Good Points: The pool area was beautiful, and the gardens were stunning.
    -awesome staff :)
    buildings were in alright shape.
    -good a la carte's.
    good mexican food.

Bad Points: Not on beach front
Lots of bee's. My husband is allergic and got stung.
    Beds were awful!
The street sellers are allowed onto the resort at night.
    not much for night life.

General comments: My husband and I arrived at Viva Wyndham, Peurto Plata, on a thurs I believe the resort looked very nice and the gardens were stunning. A young man brought our bags up and stood at the door with his hand up waiting for a tip. We had reserved a king sized bed and found that our room had 2 doubles. Both beds were in really bad shape, so much so that me and my husband could not sleep in the same bed, because they collasped to the middle. We were on the third floor and we loved the view of the gardens.
we also found out the the beach is a 5 min walk before you can even see sand, there is another hotel right in front of this resort and the beach size was very small, also the beach sellers are relentless!! Every five mins another one is walking by. If you are going for a very relaxing time on the beach...not the place to go. The night life is pretty minor, and if you are younger and looking for a really upbeat night life...this is also not your kind of resort. Also at least 4 of the 7 nights we were there the street sellers were allowed on to the resort, you could not walk to the bar with out meeting one and being asked to come see what they had. We found this rather annoying and not relaxing at all.
I am a fairly picky eater and I did have a hard time finding food that I really enjoyed. There mexican night is FANTASIC! The A la carte's are very nice as well, we enjoyed them very much, and the food and service was good.
I am usually not one to complain about my holiday, but I was disappointed in the bang for the buck. We have been trying out different resorts and this one did not rate high in our reviews.
If you are looking to spend most of your time by a pool, this is a nice place to go, if you are looking for more of a beach resort, not your kind of place.

This was my first time to the Dominican Republic, and I am ready to go back!! I went with a friend and we had the BEST time. Most of it was due to the staff at the Viva Wyndham hotel. The animation team (entertainment) and the watersports team were exceptional! The food was much better than I expected in an all inclusive hotel (the quality was very good), as were the rooms and facilities. I was sold the ticket as a 3 star, but the hotel website said 4 star. I personally would say it's well wor ...
