I brought this product as wanted a bit of a tan ready for a friends wedding. A friend had told me how good it was and it was on offer in Boots so I thought I would give it a go as couldn't really afford to go for a spray tan! Initially all was ok applied the moisturiser after a shower and started to see a change in colour the following morning. Repeated the next evening again all was fine. This is the first time ive used garnier's gradual tan after being recomended it by family! I love it! I used the darker one (im fair skinned but the lighter tans never go dark enough for me) i have tried johnstones previously it made me orange in both shades and a few others but this is by far the best! I love this product, used it before bed, expected it not to go very dark but was plensently suprise by the colour in the morning !!! Gave me a wonderful healthy glow, no irratation what so ever and i suffer from most products with rashes and cracking skin! I applied this last night all over my body after my bath. I have suffered from mild eczema all my life which meant I would sometimes have a red rash on the creases of my leg. I am 15 and have been eczema free for over a year so I decided to use this product after wanting a tan. This morning I woke up with a fabulous tan- I was very impressed. I used a garnier product very similar to this one, original intense no streak bronzer lotion. At first I was amazed at how well the colour had come out and the no typical tan smell after! Shortly after my skin would dry out and rash up in the creases of my arms and become like eczema which I've never had in my life!! It's also caused my neck to itch like mad!! i've used more than a few gradual moisturiser self tanners in my life, and by far this is the best. the smell is so yummy! smells like apricot yoghurt :) very good as a moisturiser as well! most self tanners dont really moisturise very much. garnier body summer is great! to all the people complaining about rashes etc, i'm not to sure what you're doing with it to make "blisters" etc. my advice for gradual self tanning users would be to exfoliate (cirular motions here people) once every... I bought this product to build a gradual tan ahead of our wedding day not wanting to have a spray tan and risk any of the colour running on a hot day. I saw Garnier product on offer alongside Dove and thought as this was a bigger bottle i'd get more for my money... what a mistake! I never get a rash from creams....NEVER. Be very careful of this as as well as thousands of others writing reviews online did get a rash from this. It was nasty above my belly button and behind my knees and blistered. Shame as it gave a lovely colour and smelt divine. Mine is now in the bin! (read more)

I picked this up to give it a go. Never have used fake tan before...to be honest I didn't really even think it was a fake tan as it is more a moisturiser. Anyway, I started noticing after only a couple days of use, that my arms were really darkening...more so than other areas I had applied the lotion to. I have been using this product for a few years. Its best to apply it at night as it works overnight! Have a nice hot bubble bath and exfoilate, apply the lotion over your whole body... And re doing arms and legs with a little bit. Go to sleep! And wake feeling golden and ready to face the day! I bought the new Apricot fragrance lotion. I am a sun worshipper who has never really got on well with fake tans, I always come out in a red itchy rash on my inner elbows and I HATE the smell which stays on your clothes, sheets etc forever! I never used any fake tan products before, but am glad to have gone for this particular product. It is the best I could go for.There are no side affects and my skin looks better than ever.I started using it and in a couple of days I was ready to show my legs in a skirt.(I applied twice a day morning and evening after shower). I've never ever been a fake tan user, as I find it too dark, and not attractive. However, I really wanted to get my arms and legs out for the good weather! I tried this after the adviser in Boots recommended it and honestly, I will never look back. I bought this to start a gradual summer tan. After applying it and leaving it overnight I woke up to a red rash over my neck, body and arms. I had a shower to rinse off the lotion and cool down, and I took 2 antihistamines to try to stop itching my skin. Just in case it was a coincidence after a week I applied it again, using a lot less, and have come out with the same result, itchy red marks. I would not recommend this product to anyone. (read more)

i cant stress enough how much you should stay away from this product. google allergic to garnier summer body and read the blogs. i didnt and paid the price, soft tissue areas like neck chest and inner arms a very angry rash blisters like bad excema, all i am allergic to is nickle which begs the question what is in this product. this has happened to many and today reporting them to the british skin foundation this rash is sore itchy and if you put anything at all on it it makes it worse. if... I've never been allergic to any fake tans before and I've used many! I applied this one and came out in a horrible itchy rash! I thought maybe it was out of date or whatever and threw it out and brought another one to check if i was actually allergic, once the previous rash had gone. Gradual, they said. Sunkissed, they said. LIES! After one application I looked less sunkissed and more like a sunburnt oompa loompa. Put it on in the evening and when I woke up in the morning I was blotchy and orange, and I haven't been able to get the colour out of my hands and fingernails for 3 days now. Everyone noted how nice I smelt, but how I also looked like I had stepped off the set of Jersey Shore. If you're looking for a GRADUAL moisturiser, don't buy this. (read more)

I bought this for the start of spring as I was sick of being so pale but was reluctant to use a full on fake tan. I was recommended it by a friend on the basis that it didn't have that 'biscuity' smell that is so synonymous with fake tan and tanning products. I went for the darker version of the product as I wanted to see a real difference. I bought this product as it was on offer and it read really well. If only I'd done my research. It smells lovely when first applied then it smells like stale biscuits after it dries. The "tan" its supposed to give you not only makes your skin look like you have used a tea bag and wiped it over yourself but you end up with a nice rash. SO P****d off!! (read more)

I bought Garnier body summer because I was struggling with dry skin mostly on my legs. The first thing I noticed was that the moisturiser was excellent. The tan is a bonus but it is a lovely natural looking tan. Not orange. I just love it. Using it all over my body now. (read more)

I'm 25 and have NEVER been allergic to anything in my life - I even checked with my Mum. I've always been quite pale and freckly, so use instant Rimmel tan when I go out. But was speaking to my friend last week and she said she's started using this new Garnier Summer Body gradual tan and said it had a really nice fragrance, unlike most tanning products. My housemate and I have been using Garnier Summerbody (The Fair one) for over a year now, and I absolutely love it. The smell is quite pleasant, although after it wears off there is a slight fake-tanny-biscuit smell, but I found that applying a strong scented body butter after the summerbody has dried helps aleviate the smell issue. It gives me a subtle glow and makes me feel more confident, would definitely recommend! (read more)

I really think that this product is great! I've been using it for about a week and I'm realllly brown which is exactly what I wanted because sitting in the sun, for me, is a complete waste of time because I just burn!
Brill colour and at a fab price! I got a big bottle from Superdrug for only £2.99 which beats the £30 for St Tropez like some of my friends are paying. I highly recommend this product!

ive also had the same angry ,painfull ,itchy rash especailly on backs of knees ,two of my friends from work have had the same reaction ,one of them has had a steriod cream from docs ,ive been useing an antiseptic cream ,but so far it hasnt cleared up , any ideas how too get rid of it or is it a trip too docs ?

Used it a couple of times so far, 48 hours apart, I can already see a lovely light colour. But it makes me itch like crazy and the itch doesn't go away until I wash. Also I found a small eczema-like spot on my left forearm - all dry and brownish, itches as well - and that kind of breaks the deal for me... Nice colour or not - it obviously messes with the health of my skin. You can see how one sort of trumps the other. (read more)

Was quite impressed with this product for the price, can be a little greasy but give it plenty of rub and its bearable, after a couple of days i was really impressed with the colour. Used it continuously for 2 weeks and all of a sudden developed a rash on my legs which i couldnt believe as i was really pleased with the colour, first time this has happened with any tanning product i've tried, guess you cant win them all (read more)

I've just started using 'Garnier Summerbody' and was thrilled with the value for money I got. It was supper easy to apply smelt very nice. It moisturies extremely well and dries instantly but is a little greasy. I wanted a really nice tan on me, but i was a bit reluctant because I didn't want streak marks or stains on my clothes. So this is really my first time using a self tanning product. I brought Garnier Summerbody Moisterising Lotion at the weekend instead of my usual Dove tanning Moisturiser and I am really happy with the result. It isn't as thick as Dove which is great because Dove can feel quite greasy. I found that it is really easy to apply and the scent is really fresh and fruity. This must be one of the best Fake Tannners I have ever used. I came back from Spain with only a light tan, as I do not sit in the sun. I will walk in it, but it is too boring just sitting in it. Been using it for a while and often get asked where I've been on holiday its very natural and gently gets darker the more you use it, about 3 days in a row is dark enough for me, then the fake tan starts to look fake!
Easy to apply, wash your hands afterwards or at least wipe between your fingers otherwise it can be a dead give away.
Love it, and recommend it lots, and I like the smell.

same thing happened to my skin - such a shame!!
I freaked out on my boy fiend as he'd been camping for the weekend and i had used the fake tan on saturday night, to look glam for his return on sunday, by monday i was itching had small bumps on my sin though he'd brought back some creepy crawlies from camping!! boiled all his clothes and our sheets and towels.
Put some more fake tan on and was scratching like mad at my skin!!! i felt so bad, had to make a special dinner to say sorry.... he thought it was funny but very sweet got me e45 bath soother and covered me in e45 and wrapped me up in bed after our dinner!
