“POOR INSTALLATION! POOR SERVICE! POOR AFTER SALES! ”

Written on: 17/03/2017 by Steersa (1 review written)

We ordered two sets of bi-folding doors, 5.4m and 4.1m units. The 5.4m bi-folding door was installed in our sun-room, however it was not fitted to surveyors strict specifications, we asked for the surveyor to return to check that it was ok, he did not, however the installation manager came and looked and assured us that the installation was acceptable, why the design was not followed was not explained. We have since noticed that it is not correctly sealed around the external part of the frame… Read Full Review

Steersa, you have my sympathy. Everest are a greedy, dishonest company who's only interest is to sign up customers on the back of their old and spent reputation, then provide the minimum service they can get away with.
It's no consolation to you but you are certainly not an isolated case. The appalling lack of care they show to their customers needs to be brought to the attention of trading standards, FENSA, BSI and GGF by as many dissatisfied customers as possible.

Yes, well said. Everest need to be taken to task by an official governing authority.

48.8% of the ratings on the Review Centre are 1-star. That just about sums up Everest and their appalling lack of customer service.

This is an extract from the Chairman's financial summary (2016) of the BECAP12 LP fund (the holding company for Everest/Hillary Bidco Ltd.)

"Everest is expected to close its FY16 financial year ended December 2016 with positive EBITDA a little better than prior year albeit, significantly below expectations and potential, and with a much improved order pipeline going into FY17.

This follows on from a series of cost reduction and revenue enhancing initiatives launched during the year. The £6.5 million write down in Everest reflects lower than expected earnings understated performance and a weakening of market comparable ratings at 30 September 2016."

“Terrible company BreachofContract and kept Deposit for...”

Written on: 10/03/2017 by Zuneid (1 review written)

Never use Everest not only are they amateurish they do not give a damn about their customers, I wrote a letter of complaint to their CEO, I received a reply from their Head of Customer Relations advising that someone will look into the complaint and get back to me. My wife and I must have contacted them on a dozen occasions but to no response. After about 12 weeks although they were breach of contract they just refunded my deposit of £2575.00 which they held for almost 6 months without a… Read Full Review

“Terrible company. Avoid.”

Written on: 23/02/2017 by Ellyfleet (1 review written)

Sadly for potential customers who have a right to know what an atrocious company Everest is, they cannot see my Trust Pilot review, or those of hundreds of other disgruntled customers, because Everest employ somebody to monitor their preferred review site daily and take down any negative reviews, under the pretence that they have no record of the contributor, despite them being provided with contract numbers, copies of contracts and detailed descriptions etc. This of course is much easier for… Read Full Review

You obviously haven't even bothered to read my review.
When I left the same review on Trust Pilot with my full name and order number you had it removed, as you do with all reviews that you don't want seen. In my case you claimed that you had no record of me.
So how will your Customer Relations investigate this for me if you claim you don't know who I am?
Your identical responses to every review makes it patently obvious that you have no interest in customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Ellyfleet. 1. If you paid on finance then the finance provider are equally liable for the sale of goods under section 75 of the consumer credit act; as much so as the company in question. You can make a section 75 claim if you feel you deserve more compensation.
2. The supposed discount you got for taking out their finance was disingenuous. Let me guess- they said the discount helps negate the interest you pay? They would have given you the same discount for cash if you had insisted.
3. re finance immediately. Get a settlement figure. Then a get a loan elsewhere. typically 3 to 4 % is competitive for a personal loan nowadays. Use that to pay off the finance and enjoy the MUCH lower payments you will now have.
4. Next time don't sign the 'satisfaction note' (may be disguised as something different) on day of install - this triggers the finance agreement. ONLY sign that if you are 100% happy with the completed work.
5. if they surveyed your property during the cooling off period of 7 days without your express permission on a 'durable medium' (written) or undertook any other work during this time then you can demand to return the goods within 2 weeks of delivery (fitting) under the Consumer Contracts regulations 2014 which replaces the Distant selling Laws of old.
6. Only write to them if you have a problem.
7. Use the free service of the financial ombudsman to act as your advocate as early as possible if you choose to seek further recompense.

“Dubious practice ?”

Written on: 22/02/2017 by CobraWires (1 review written)

On 8th December, 2016, my 90-year old father had a visit from an Everest "engineer" to diagnose a fault with his electric garage door operator. Without inspecting the operator at all, the Everest representative told my father that the motor needed replacing, saying "These don't often last more than five years". He then got my father to write him a cheque for £1,250 ! There was no written quotation or receipt. On 28th December I inspected the operator, and found that the lightbulb had failed… Read Full Review

I can only hope that Trading Standards and other authorities note the number and nature of complaints on these kind of sites and put pressure on Everest to start treating their customers with respect.
Only then might you start to get answers to your questions CobraWires.
In the meantime, you, me and many others have learned the hard way never to use this company again.

Please bear in mind that "Everest Limited" is effectively a trading name of "Hillary Bidco Limited", which is wholly owned by "BECAP12 Fund LP", or Better Capital.

Better Capital is a "venture capital" company, based in Guernsey. They acquired Everest in 2012.

This is from the Better Capital website :

"The Better Capital Funds are seeking to invest in portfolios of businesses which have significant operating issues and may have associated financial distress, with a primary focus on businesses which have significant activities within the United Kingdom or Ireland."

He is a director of both Hillary Bidco Limited and Better Capital.

Have a look at the latest (2015) published company report of Hillary Bidco Limited and you will see why Everest seem to be struggling.

Equally unsurprising is that 90% of the reviews Everest choose to fool the punters with on their own website are 5 star and the rest are 4 star.
Not an unhappy customer in sight.
If only they were as good and honest as they would like you to believe.

Since having our windows and doors fitted just over two years ago we have had no end of issues with Everest. We are currently waiting for our front door to be repaired which doesn't seal properly. We reported this issue back in early November and have had minimal contact from their customer service department. “Appalling Insallation.”

Written on: 08/02/2017 by michaelgfay (1 review written)

Had two triple glazed windows and a triple glazed door fitted in the kitchen at a cost of £4455. Looked ok at first but later noticed a crack in one of the glazed units rendering it useless, the other window's glazed unit is not sat in the frame correctly and the rubber seal which should be hidden is on show by 12mm all down the right hand side. The door is by far the worst of the three scuff marks and a big scratch on top left side which had been cunningly disguised until you turned the light… Read Full Review

totally agree, only sorry I didn't read the reviews before spending £4455 on two kitchen windows and a rear door [triple glazed] The big window sealed unit is cracked the smaller of the two windows doesn't fit in the frame. The £2500 door is a joke, 7 inch scratch along the top and most worrying is the pathetic way the fitters tried to cover all the scuff marks with glue. Tried to phone Everest, no one available, cancelled the cheque. I can see hassle ahead.

“EVEREST are the "Worst Ever Experience” I have ever had.”

Written on: 26/01/2017 by Chrissyhsmith (1 review written)

Like some before I have no choice but to give a 1 star but would prefer to realistically give zero stars. What can I say but "Do not use Everest" they are not a great or good company, and definitely not the "BEST" as they state. We have had continued issues with our double glazing since the day it was installed back in 2015. One of our Bi-fold doors as damaged by the Everest engineer when he came to fix them, as they had slipped. This was in September 2015. Still to this day we have had nothing… Read Full Review

“Guarantee is a JOKE and FENSA registrations are wrong!”

Written on: 19/01/2017 by LarissaScott481 (1 review written)

The "10 year no quibble guarantee" - WRONG! It is not a guarantee on the product. It is a warranty that has to be bought! Also, check your FENSA registration as doors that have less than 50% glazing do not fall within the remit of FENSA, and so are VOID! Everest are incorrectly registering these - presumably to give you the perception of more false cover! Very poor Everest!… Read Full Review

“Prioritising new business over rectifying problems”

Written on: 17/01/2017 by JimandAl (1 review written)

Firstly let me say that if I could rate as a zero I would do!! I would echo the sentiments of many others in that Everest prioritise new business which generates revenue rather than customer aftercare and repairing the shoddy work already carried out. “Worst Ever Experience”

Written on: 08/01/2017 by Jag944 (1 review written)

Absolutely the worst experience from a so called professional company I have ever encountered. The salesman did not have a full knowledge of the products. The installation was poor - I was left with a front door that was so stiff it was impossible for anyone apart from myself to operate. The advice being it would ease up ! It took a further six visits for a supposedly competent firm to fit a front door to some sort of reasonable standard. It is still not correct after over a year however… Read Full Review

Adelow's Response to Jag944's Review

Written on: 15/01/2017

I agree totally. Top prices, appalling customer service, installation 'engineers' that don't know what they are doing, even 'top' engineer brought up from Herts. He has caused more problems to add to the 40 visits in 2 years. He replaced leaking windows(+scratched glass) at last, but hasn't fitted them properly. They are draughty, blowing heavy blackout blinds when closed & dust blows in when it is windy. He refitted patio door & lock (5times), now we have a huge gap around top of frame- probably source of all the draughts we have been experiencing and giving good view out into garden, where frame should be - so presumably not been correctly measured. Installation manager told me I was out of order to be cross, when I asked him when were Everest actually going to get it right, which made me more cross, especially as I had had to put myself out to accommodate him! - not to mention the other 39 times! Top installation engineer also cracked all tiles on roof & cracked render, which he claimed he had noted on remedial report. All communications stopped when I sent them report with NO mention - because it was a (nother) lie!

My nightmare with Everest began in September 2016. I am including a quick synopsis of the work carried out by Everest below but the reason for this review is the attitude of Everest towards compensating me for the quality of work and the time it has taken me to get the work done to a point that I can live with it. The current CEO of Everest.

I emailed him last week, He never replied or even his PA, it was given to someone in Customer Services. Who does answer my calls and does answer my emails. However, she can't fix my problems with the installation which started in September 2016, a Branch Manager should have attended today, but cancelled again and rescheduled for tomorrow...
This is the third manager to visit. Last week they supposedly sent their BEST TEAM to sort my windows and doors, they sent the wrong colour trim, again, so the installers went away.

Complain to Watchdog, Trading Standards, everywhere you can, we are all having the same sub standard service from Everest, it's a disgrace

Thank you for your automated response.
If you were an efficient and conscientious company you would have a long record of meetings, appointments, phone calls and letters that Customer Relations could “investigate”.
Please see my letter of 20/11/16 (reference: 32/WT2063AU) which led to him recommending an offer of compensation. Or as you call it: “a goodwill gesture”.
I continue to await a call with a realistic and proportionate offer.
