“Very poor customer care”

Written on: 18/04/2017

We had all our windows replaced by Everest in 2014, and also the front door. There were several problems with the windows which were resolved only after us chasing them. The front door has been a continuous problem - difficult to open at the best of times, impossible on occasions, actually leaving me locked out. 'Engineers' have come out numerous times to adjust it; the door has even been replaced. After being locked out three times in one week I insisted this matter was given serious… Read Full Review

Everest's hollow promises to investigate cases for their hard done by customers who feel so frustrated that they need to voice their feelings on this site, add insult to injury.
Their automated responses just serve to show how far they have fallen in terms of customer service.

“Appalling Service & Quality......................”

Written on: 11/04/2017 by tripleglazed67 (1 review written)

Everest gave me a target installation date of 7-8 weeks from 14th September 2016, and the Surveyor Visit Report gave an Estimated Installation time of 4 days (2 Men, 32 Hours). Only by calling them in early November did I find out that they wanted to delay the installation until 21st December 2016. They eventually improved on this by nine days, and an email received on 2nd December confirmed that the installation of the windows and doors would commence on Monday 12th December 2016 and should… Read Full Review

My installation started September 2016, still not finished and like you I was left with rubbish in the garden, windows left with foam filler open to various weather conditions. After getting no where I emailed the CEO, I have a complaints handler ring me, but I've still had to chase and chase all in emails, I had 2 managers visit me on the day of Storm Doris, great weather conditions to show them my windows weren't fitted properly with the wind coming in!! They sent a team of four for 2 days and then two men for 2 days to repair the job the previous fitters hadn't done properly. It's still not finished and they should be here next week. Two months since they lasted visited I'm waiting for a replacement piece of glass they broke and a new window frame for a different window. It doesn't end there, my compensation is laughable a bunch of half dead flowers and a small hamper selection of goods!! I took out their finance through Barclays however there's an issue there too, I was told by the sales lady that the finance repayment do not start until I signed their paperwork and 30days after signature, however the payments started straight away. I didn't sign anything to say I'm happy with the windows, I refused. I had to speak with Barclays and complained to them so my account is on hold, however Barclays have informed me that what the salesperson sold me is wrong, so it's also wrong on their paperwork, Barclays start the finance agreement after the 14days cancellation period, so be warned anyone wanting to use Everest, not only is it the product but the finance. I now have a solicitor involved

Tripleglazed67, I've read some incredible reviews of this appalling company since our shocking treatment at their hands, but yours takes the biscuit.
Everest boast of their affiliation to FENSA, BSI, GGF and others. Make sure you let these organisations know of your unacceptable treatment.
Don't give up trying to get a reduced price.....remember customer service is nowhere near the top of their list of priorities.

“Everest total mess of manufacture and install wont refund ”

Written on: 07/04/2017 by PDJC1963 (1 review written)

Terrible company. I ordered windows 11 months ago in May 2016. Promised 6 weeks delivery - but it took 3 months to come up with the proper survey and drawings. Installation booked for October 2016 - as the scaffolding didn't turn up the day before, there was not enough time to install when the window fitters arrived the following day - so the scaffolding had to come down. Rescheduled install for November - this time the scaffolding came but the windows were wrong spec. Re-rescheduled install… Read Full Review

“Overpriced. Paperwork nightmare!”

Written on: 31/03/2017 by Grannyallan (1 review written)

I ordered a like for like upvc roof for a sunroom extension. After signing for the order I was in the hands of their surveyor...price doubled. The roof was leaking it was urgent I went ahead. They applied for planning permission (and charged me) for a conservatory at the front of the cottage! It was a roof at the back. They ordered a skip for demolition of a conservatory. The finished article was not the design I signed for. After 9 months of paperwork and advice from the CAB I gave up. My next… Read Full Review

“EVEREST: Triple glazing windows & doors experience 2016/17”

Written on: 29/03/2017 by MargaretYate (1 review written)

Customers be very aware as my experience & customer service that followed (until I complained to the CEO) was appalling. The whole thing took over half a year; I had to chase up repeatedly & didn't get the promised call backs etc. I'm not saying that the windows & doors don't look good now but all the promises & timescales weren't worth the paper they were written on. I came back to Everest & believed their slogan 'Fit the best, fit Everest' but they just didn't live up to it. I have spent a… Read Full Review

“POOR INSTALLATION! POOR SERVICE! POOR AFTER SALES! ”

Written on: 17/03/2017 by Steersa (1 review written)

We ordered two sets of bi-folding doors, 5.4m and 4.1m units. The 5.4m bi-folding door was installed in our sun-room, however it was not fitted to surveyors strict specifications, we asked for the surveyor to return to check that it was ok, he did not, however the installation manager came and looked and assured us that the installation was acceptable, why the design was not followed was not explained. We have since noticed that it is not correctly sealed around the external part of the frame… Read Full Review

Steersa, you have my sympathy. Everest are a greedy, dishonest company who's only interest is to sign up customers on the back of their old and spent reputation, then provide the minimum service they can get away with.
It's no consolation to you but you are certainly not an isolated case. The appalling lack of care they show to their customers needs to be brought to the attention of trading standards, FENSA, BSI and GGF by as many dissatisfied customers as possible.

Yes, well said. Everest need to be taken to task by an official governing authority.

48.8% of the ratings on the Review Centre are 1-star. That just about sums up Everest and their appalling lack of customer service.

This is an extract from the Chairman's financial summary (2016) of the BECAP12 LP fund (the holding company for Everest/Hillary Bidco Ltd.)

"Everest is expected to close its FY16 financial year ended December 2016 with positive EBITDA a little better than prior year albeit, significantly below expectations and potential, and with a much improved order pipeline going into FY17.

This follows on from a series of cost reduction and revenue enhancing initiatives launched during the year. The £6.5 million write down in Everest reflects lower than expected earnings understated performance and a weakening of market comparable ratings at 30 September 2016."

Taurus's Response to Steersa's Review

Written on: 28/03/2017

I have to say I feel like a right mug, having convinced myself that Everest were indeed the best, so happily signed up for a 'Garden Room' in April last year.

The tale of woe that started from the eventual installation date in October only came to an end in February of this year! The only 'fair' comment I can make is that when the flooring specialist we engaged once Everest were out of our lives described the state of the new floor as "a disgrace", so we did receive full compensation for the grinding down & re-screeding from Everest.

We put Everest on notice of complaint & compensation back in December of 2016, receiving an "I'm sure we can resolve this amicably" from their management. However, on all attempts to secure correct compensation to date we have been met with responses from their legal team that invoking 'Clause 5' in our contract was invalid because we hadn't sent the complaint by recorded delivery to their head office, despite having emailed it to all managers AND the CEO!

If I write much more I'll go mad, so just avoid Everest at all costs, seriously!

“Terrible company. Avoid.”

Written on: 23/02/2017 by Ellyfleet (1 review written)

Sadly for potential customers who have a right to know what an atrocious company Everest is, they cannot see my Trust Pilot review, or those of hundreds of other disgruntled customers, because Everest employ somebody to monitor their preferred review site daily and take down any negative reviews, under the pretence that they have no record of the contributor, despite them being provided with contract numbers, copies of contracts and detailed descriptions etc. This of course is much easier for… Read Full Review

You obviously haven't even bothered to read my review.
When I left the same review on Trust Pilot with my full name and order number you had it removed, as you do with all reviews that you don't want seen. In my case you claimed that you had no record of me.
So how will your Customer Relations investigate this for me if you claim you don't know who I am?
Your identical responses to every review makes it patently obvious that you have no interest in customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Ellyfleet. 1. If you paid on finance then the finance provider are equally liable for the sale of goods under section 75 of the consumer credit act; as much so as the company in question. You can make a section 75 claim if you feel you deserve more compensation.
2. The supposed discount you got for taking out their finance was disingenuous. Let me guess- they said the discount helps negate the interest you pay? They would have given you the same discount for cash if you had insisted.
3. re finance immediately. Get a settlement figure. Then a get a loan elsewhere. typically 3 to 4 % is competitive for a personal loan nowadays. Use that to pay off the finance and enjoy the MUCH lower payments you will now have.
4. Next time don't sign the 'satisfaction note' (may be disguised as something different) on day of install - this triggers the finance agreement. ONLY sign that if you are 100% happy with the completed work.
5. if they surveyed your property during the cooling off period of 7 days without your express permission on a 'durable medium' (written) or undertook any other work during this time then you can demand to return the goods within 2 weeks of delivery (fitting) under the Consumer Contracts regulations 2014 which replaces the Distant selling Laws of old.
6. Only write to them if you have a problem.
7. Use the free service of the financial ombudsman to act as your advocate as early as possible if you choose to seek further recompense.

I took out the finance and didn't sign the paperwork to trigger the agreement and Barclays still started the repayments. My installation started in September 2016 and is still not finished. The finance company informed me it's triggered after the 14 day cancellation period has passed, and the installation has started, so I have to pay I'm responsible for the debt, even though Everest have not completed, the salesperson sold the finance, but it was not in anyway how Barclays Finance loan works.

On 8th December, 2016, my 90-year old father had a visit from an Everest "engineer" to diagnose a fault with his electric garage door operator. Without inspecting the operator at all, the Everest representative told my father that the motor needed replacing, saying "These don't often last more than five years". He then got my father to write him a cheque for £1,250 ! There was no written quotation or receipt. On 28th December I inspected the operator, and found that the lightbulb had failed… Read Full Review

Please bear in mind that "Everest Limited" is effectively a trading name of "Hillary Bidco Limited", which is wholly owned by "BECAP12 Fund LP", or Better Capital.

Better Capital is a "venture capital" company, based in Guernsey. They acquired Everest in 2012.

This is from the Better Capital website :

"The Better Capital Funds are seeking to invest in portfolios of businesses which have significant operating issues and may have associated financial distress, with a primary focus on businesses which have significant activities within the United Kingdom or Ireland."

He is a director of both Hillary Bidco Limited and Better Capital.

Have a look at the latest (2015) published company report of Hillary Bidco Limited and you will see why Everest seem to be struggling.

Had two triple glazed windows and a triple glazed door fitted in the kitchen at a cost of £4455. Looked ok at first but later noticed a crack in one of the glazed units rendering it useless, the other window's glazed unit is not sat in the frame correctly and the rubber seal which should be hidden is on show by 12mm all down the right hand side. totally agree, only sorry I didn't read the reviews before spending £4455 on two kitchen windows and a rear door [triple glazed] The big window sealed unit is cracked the smaller of the two windows doesn't fit in the frame. The £2500 door is a joke, 7 inch scratch along the top and most worrying is the pathetic way the fitters tried to cover all the scuff marks with glue. Tried to phone Everest, no one available, cancelled the cheque. I can see hassle ahead.
