“I had van insurance via Evan for 12 months, renewed...”

written by on 26/01/2014

I had van insurance via Evan for 12 months, renewed with another company when due again the following yr, Evan took it upon themselves to automatic renew the insurance leaving me with dual insurance. Rang them to explain this & to cancel what I had not authorised they told me they would refund the monies asp.. it took 2 months for the refund and many phone calls of which I now realise is a premium rate line. Steer clear of their traps...

“This has got to be the worst insurance company ever...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Moneybagsthatswotevanthink on 08/10/2013

This has got to be the worst insurance company ever and will not be using them again!!! You send all relevant information which they lose and then they have the cheek to threaten to stop your insurance when it's their fault! They also gave me 20 minutes notice that they were cancelling my insurance which was very inconvenient. I am then told that I have to start a new policy which is now another few hundred pounds. They shouldn't be able to get away with extorting money from their so called customers. Think it's time to let the Office of Fair Trading and Trading Standards and Insurance Ombudsman have a look at some of the reviews on this site. I will definitely be reading the reviews before I buy insurance again. Missing field??? YOU DONT DESERVE ANY STARS!!!!!!!!! Where's that option?!

“Cannot operate as an insurance company properly”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/07/2013

After being with Evan for 8 months this policy i purchased a new van yesterday ( ex demo with 1200 miles) This is a bog standard transit van delivered yesterday. Great I thought looking forward getting behind the wheel. After going on line and checking into my evan account I thought a few minuets and i will be on the road how wrong was I . After trying to change my vehicle details from my old van to my new one which incidentally is for the record a transit 125 T350 LWB TREND AWD. I found that Evan did not have this van listed on their drop down menu . Next move I had to ring their compulsory £1.50 from a bt landline number as I'm not bt but talk talk I will no doubt be receiving a hefty bill. I could not believe what I herd from the Evan operative who after keeping me waiting with long silences ect so they can make more money from each call who said that as my vehicle was not on their list that they could not insure me and my policy would be cancelled at approx 10am yesterday and I would be charged a cancellation fee of £70 which will come out of any refund due I have looked on their terms land conditions and I cannot see anywhere that if they as a company cannot provide a service being the insurance contract that they can cancell the said policy and charge £70 for the privelige. Incidentally I rang around a few other insurance companies and some did not have an up to date list of vehicles like Evan But all these companies said they could insure me no problem. I think it is very wrong that a company like Evan can get away with ripping people off when they want all due to the fact that they cannot provide an Iup to date vehicle listing on their web site. This was an Evan fully comprehensive policy

am currently also up against a brick wall to stop increase from £29 p.m. to £110 p.m. full comp. inc recovery. sent emails to ask reason for this, no reply. did a new quote and discovered vehicle too old for recovery hence rip off increase. so applied for t.p.f.t to reduce cost. bingo £30. excluding recovery. sent new email to change from full comp. to t.p.f.t. was messaged to resubmit on policy changes did that expecting worldpay invoice for £30. but no bloody £110 again for just one month, the van is only worth £500.

“Terrible!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/07/2013

All I wanted to do was add on a temporary driver to my insurance for the day, so I emailed and got a reply saying fill out the contact form by clicking on the link. I filled it in but it wouldn't submit as kept saying it had filed larger than 6mb. I tried on my laptop and ipad, but had the same message on both. I then called their ridiculously priced premium number, and got a message saying I do not have access to that number, and it defaulted to Orange?! I emailed again, explaining all this and did not get a reply, hence I couldn't insure my friend for something really important and it was a nightmare. I will not be renewing with them this year.

Just wanted to up date my address simple!yes NO, contacted them three times to no avail, there customer service email address does not exist. I will not phone the number at £1.05 per min just to change my address. I have tried to update my policy using multiple changes but does not let me get past the quote page. Trouble is now I want to cancel my policy but my no claims is going to go to my old address. Next step is to contact Trading standards to get rig of companies like this.

“Probably the worst insurance company in the world!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by onlyfooledonce on 10/05/2013

Please do not ignore this review, and steer clear of this Company. You will not be able to cancel the policy, and payments will continue to be made via Futurepay. I cancelled three months ago, (online as this is the only way) when the monthly charge increased fourfold, and they are still sending me documents, and taking payments. I've had to call my credit card company who have charged the last three payment back to my card. I've also reported Evan to Trading Standards. Don't try to phone Evan, as you will be charged £1.02 per minute, and put on hold. I'm just glad that I did not have to make a claim during the time I had insurance with them. 1. You would probably be unable to communicate with them. 2. Would you be insured? I'm just glad that it's all over. I hope!

i took out a policy with evan & unfortunatly had 2 convictions which i did not now the precise dates of so i guessed,it was only going to be days out ! when i sent in my driving licence they tried to charge me an extra £200 as the dates did not match even though i was honest with the codes & convictions, this was a hike of one 3rd of my premium ! i wrote to them after being ripped off on the phone by them @ £1 a minute to just be on hold ! you will just go on hold & they will take your money ! after i wrote to them to dispute the absurd figure they just IGNORED me & kept on with demands for £200,they left me with no other choice than to cancel my policy as they were well out of order ! forced in to a corner to leave them ! they then tried to charge me a cancellation fee even though i was effectivly forced to leave !they then passed it on to a litigation company to chase thier demands for money ! THIS IS A VERY VERY VERY BAD COMPANY !

“Evan Hike Premium to Double Once you are a Customer”

written by on 23/04/2013

I have been with this company a few years. Suddenly without warning my insurance premium went from about £800 to over £1600. No accidents or traffic offences Tried emailing them because last time I rang them it cost £30. They did the same thing to my brother in law last year they just hope you won,t notice and it will auto renew. Re quoted with auto trader and out of 41 insurers none were higher than £880 with the lowest being £452 EVAN well would you believe £3250 before my no claim discount. Don't deal with this company they are unethical

“PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 06/03/2013

If you are considering using Evan please don't do it....they have been useless from start to finish during an ongoing claim I have with them. Customer service is none exisitant, premium rates numbers to call if you have a problem and you will be lucky if anyone does answer and when they do, you will wish they hadn't. Fraudsters is the only word I can use without using profanities, they have continually lied about everything, all correspondance from them tells you different information and you will be passed from one department to another ( whilst draining your credit). I have challenged them several times about incorrect information in letters regarding my claim and all they state is the letters are "standard" jokers! I know they are cheap and times are tough but cheap terrible service is what you get...paying hard earned cash for a policy that isn't worth the paper it is written on. WASTE OF TIME.......

“Total joke if you need to contact them! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/02/2013

Yes they are cheap but thats there only merit. They are impossible to contact. They dont reply to emails (apart from pointless automated replies) to phone them costs £1.02 per minute and when they send you a 'contact us' form (via automated email reply) that wont work either. Read this and the rest of the reviews and make your mind up before you hand over your money! The people writing the better reviews could not have had the displeasure of trying to contact them! I only wish I had read the reviews and so glad I only had 1 year with them! Good bye evan (whoever and wherever you are !!)

“E-van is a CON!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/12/2012

Where do I start? They use a preminum rate phone number which cuts off after a minute, their prices will be the best, because they state they do not recieve your documents and then cancel your policy! I bought insurance through E-van and paid £450 for my policy which was easily £100 cheeper then the next brand. Cover seemed good, company apeared legitimate. Then once I paid the problems started. First were the persistent requests for documents. They need both your proof of no claims and copies of your driving license and counter part. No probs there both sent. Then the e-mails start requesting one or other or both. Inspite of my sending them 10 times by email and fax, my policy was cancelled without them responding to many of my e-mails. When they did respond it was from diferent e-mail addresses which when you e-mail back, come back with an automated reply saying "We do not respond to e-mails at this address, please use our contact form". The 'contact' form is an automated online form which leaves you with no proof of sending so no evidence of a complaint. E-van a subsidery I believe of Asda Money is a con. If you value your sanity, avoid at all costs!!

So familiar! Sent documents which were acknowledged. So many emails from them requesting documents again which we resent and which were acknowledged followed by requests from them for documents and demands for large sums of money as they haven't got proof of bonus! Even if you are brave enough to spend huge amounts on trying to phone their premium number you can't get through. Useless is the polite term.

Just there ourselves ....Several months in then get a letter to say they are going to cancel if we don't respond to a mid term adjustment...Had no idea what they are talking about as we paid for the insurance in full when taking it out. We haven't made any adjustments either...Was lucky to find a direct Tel No for them and not the stupid premium one at £1.02 a minute and OH my what a nightmare. They say taking into account we started this insurance in Oct 2012 that they didnt have our "No claims Bonus" confirmed and in actual fact our car insurers said in the beginning of Nov 2012 we were still insured with them. This is a van we have insured with Evan...And when we chased it up with our previous insurers for the no claims back in Oct we obviously cancelled the policy ....Again it was an insurance we had paid in full so nothing to pay for canceling and no refund due.
Anyways according to Evan they say they had emailed us for the details which they hadn't and yesterday was the 1st we knew about anything and even then they don't explain what its about and again not clear when you log onto the site ...So messaged them and wrote to them and no response of course..Today we rang and got a very robotic service adviser who basically didn't know all the ins and outs ....We chased up with our previous insurers as well who were amazingly helpful and good on ya SAGA for having proper nice staff that you can talk to without feeling your temperature gage going up. Bottom line letter comes yesterday the 7th and on Monday 11th at 23.59.59 secs our insurance with EVAN will be canceled so much for the 7 days LOL so Saga are happy to talk to these guys to sort it...Best of it is I rang Evan back to give the Tel No with Ext for this lovely chap at SAGA and another Evan service adviser who was more approachable than the previous at least explains that our "no claims discount" had been reduced to 0 Zilch....What the hell and so i rang SAGA again and they said its not a valid reason and we haven't had enough notification to rectify the situation....Now I await for an update on Monday 11/02/13 but in the mean time I will do some serious letter writing over the weekend to FSA and will keep track of the letter already sent this morning to Brightsidegroup the company that Evan/Ecar and so forth fall under

“still waiting for refund!”

written by on 16/11/2012

Got the insurance 7 weeks ago. Cancelled after 12 days. emailed to request refund, automated reply. Called premium rate line to ask, said they would sort it out. Waited 2 weeks, called premium line again, told it would take up to 30 days. Waited the full 30 days, called premium line AGAIN, they said sorry and we will forget £75 charge as we are late. That was 2 weeks ago. STILL NO REFUND!!! VERY BAD BUSINESS. 1. ONLY HAS PREMIUM RATE NUMBER FOR CONTACT 2. CUSTOMER SERVICES DO NOT TRANSFER AT ALL AND KEEP REPEATING THE SAME THING 3. AUTOMATED EMAIL RESPONSE IS LEFT AS THE MAIN RESPONSE FOR TOO LONG 4. DO NOT PAY BEFORE LEGAL 30 DAYS
