A couple of years ago I bought a pair of Harbeths from an aquaintance. I knew he was very proud of his Harbeths so I asked what he had replaced them with. He showed me a pair of Studio 10's of which I knew nothing, although I was familiar with TDL. I found the Harbeths pleasant enough but nothing special really. I was astonished to learn that he had replaced £1100 speakers with ones you could buy for less than £100 on ebay! I was intrigued, and ended up getting a pair for well under £100... (read more)

Big size but average sound quality compared to other speakers at this price.
The bass is not deep, the quality of the sound is not remarkable. What grabs you though and is the best part of these speakers for me is the stability in the sound coming from the huge size of the speaker which makes the sound very soothing particularly for classical music, but for rock and pop, much better elsewhere.

wondering what sort of set-up you are using with your speakers as i certainly have found no problem with the excellent bass response these speakers produce. i have found on occasion these kicking out so much bass that i could feel the effects through the back of my couch at the opposite side of my living room approxiamately 12 feet away!!

overall these TDL Studio 10 represent excellent value for money. i thought perhaps the bass would overpower the rest of the sound but was pleasantly surprised at the clarity of the mid and top end. stereo imaging is excellent and there is ample power for most. these speakers seem to be equally comfortable playing a wide variety of music and can quite happily perform at low or high volumes. don,t place them too near a wall or corner as then the bass seems tu become boomy. i believe now... I purchased these TDL Studio 10 speakers from Richies of Colchester about 2 years ago for £119.
They look great are realy well built and HEAVY so you dont get any
vibration noise.
They produce a superb all round sound with a great bass and theres no worries of popping the cones if you like it heavy.

Very detailed focused sound and massive bass if bi-amped
Really like the TDL Studio 10 speakers- just need the amps to really shine look very attractive in a room
Cabinets could be better,a bit hollow and could be spiked or mass fillable for stability
Even women i know seem to lke em (bonus!

The TDL Studio 10 are a lovely looking deep black plate surrounding the high end bits along side the 3 incorporated 6" woofers. I couldn't be a happier chappy with my lovely pair! The only bad point is that they're the other half's reason for most of arguments! (read more)

The TDL Studio 10 look and sound great. Nice rumble through the floor boards, clear mids and tops. Well made too. Heavy and rather larger than I wanted, but well worth it if you have the room, and neighbours who don't mind the occasional earthquake in their living room. Highly recommended. (read more)

Bought these from richer sounds for £110 which is a bargain. They are massive!
These speakers come with what looks like a gloss black isolation plinth but this in reality is just a slab of MDF so wont do much isolating at all, it's just there for looks. The bass is great, nice and tight. Can be a little on the boomy side if placed too close to a wall but this is normally what happens with all speakers with backwards facing ports.
These were bought to replace a rather weedy sounding set of...

TDL (Transducer development limited) Studio 10 speakers:
Purchased these from Richer Sounds (£120) with some trepidation, as another reviewer had already commented, they have had mixed reviews if you do an internet search. On opening the very large boxes, a giant smile spread across my face, they certainly looked OK to me!-
Dimensions per speaker:
109 cm tall (!)
33 cm deep
24 cm wide.
I purchased the beech speakers, which have an integrated plinth in black gloss. This looks like MDF so if...

Bought a pair of TDL Studio 10 stereo speakers for £120, ran them in for 8 hours at fairly low volume and now sound fantastic!
Bass can be a bit over the top but can be fixed.
Sound better than my fostex pm 1 monitor speakers.
Highly recommended for people who want a good pair of floor standing speakers for just over £100.

TDL Studio 10 are very powerful speakers with exceptionaly powerful bass wich can be over boomy sometimes. Vocals sound nice and smooth along with string instruments, they create a very powerful, big soundstage and the stereo image is good too. For the money, they're excellent budget speakers (read more)

Wolfburgman's Response to Duncamax's Review

good review and i echo your final words. i have owned a pair of these for many years and have never looked back. the positioning of these speakers is important as is the case with so many speakers. i have auditioned many different speakers, many far more expensive than these which i bought new for £200. i believe they were originally priced at £400. i can,t find any others so far that would tempt me to part with my tdls. so enjoy your speakers, you have certainly got yourself a bargain. well done
