They had my camera for almost 3 months. Always having to chase them up. Promises made, I was let down all the time. Told it would be ready in 2 weeks, again let down. Needed another part, had to chase them up again to be told panasonic have pulled out and no one is there to fix my camera. It could be months till they get some other people in. Collected my camera now, its not been touched after almost 3 months. So upset and disgusted with them.

Bought a brand new pair of binoculars online. When I received these, there was evidence of wear. Blemishes around the body. Instruction booklet had a fold in it. Eyepieces were dirty. These should never been sent out in this condition.

This is a review of the shop on the Strand. Really helpful staff who take their time and don't pressure sell at all. Good selection of new and second hand equipment. I would always go here as my first choice and highly recommend.

This was for LCE on The Strand in London. Was looking for a mid range (up to £350) pair of binoculars. They spent time talking to me to find out what I knew and what I wanted - so the advice that I got back was pitched at the right level. I felt that they respected my knowledge (as little as it was). They didn't up-sell - once they know what my limit was they didn't do an estate agents job and push me up another 20%. I didn't feel that I was pushed to get the staff's favourite - but something that was right for me. I know you can spend a lot more on Bins but £350 is a lot for me. They gave me good information about what they had in stock and what they didnt, and They offered (and were clearly prepared to) to get other stock in for me if I wanted to look at anything different. I had great confidence that what I was being told was correct. Now of course that might have been just good salesmanship. But I reckon they know that the person who makes a first purchase this week could be their next, regular customer. Good advice now might be rewarded by more sales in the future - which is how it should be. The price I got was very competitive - about £30 under the average price I could have got "online" for the same product and I reckon the advice I got was worth at least another £20 so I think I got a bargain - and didn't spend up to my limit.

I was a bit worried after reading all of the negative feedback.. However I was after a specific lens which LCE had in stock in their shop in The Strand, London... I spoke to them on the phone, very helpful, confirmed they had 2 and would put one by for me.. turned up, very friendly chap with a beard served me (the same guy i'd spoken to on the phone).. very professional and even gave me extra paper copies of the receipt for submitting a cashback claim .. he even made SURE the serial number was clearly displayed.. Shook hands on completion of purchase etc.. wish more shops were like this.. maybe people only post reviews when they have a bad experience, so I want to post an excellent experience

I bought a Hahnel remote shutter trigger and they charged me £24.99, however when I got home I found the RRP from Amazon and Currys and most other vendors to be only £15.99. That's a price hike of £9 for such a small item, ridiculous. I'll be spending my money elsewhere in future.

Staff unfriendly and not particularly helpful. Left the shop feeling that because I wasn't a professional photographer and willing to spend thousands of pounds that I was wasting their time. Salesman actually carried on a conversation with one of his colleagues whilst serving me. My advice would be decide what you want and buy elsewhere.

I expected good after sales service from London camera exchange Bristol depot, but when returning a faulty fitting that had failed , the response was very negative ,I suggest better staff training, I will never use that store again/

I went into the chesterfield store to spend nearly £2000 on a camera i walked through the door to see a member of staff with a set of binoculars looking at something through the door up the road!? The cameras and equipment are over priced. Was offered just £550 for both my camera and grip on theyre website the have the camera at £940 with 40,000 more shutter actuations than mine then the grip a further £120. So would be making an extra £500 from the sale of my camera in part ex (i put the camera on facebook and it sold in a couple of hours for£900 minus the grip). The staff like to think they know what they are talking about, i would say after ten years in the industry there knowledge is very poor. Save yourself time and money and by from calumet.

Quite simply the best! They are knowledgable and patient and willing to work on price, plus they have stock with which to try different lenses.

You have to buy equipment using the phone and despite repeated phone calls there's never anyone capable to deal with your purchase. Back to e-bay I guess!

Bought Canon 600d body from them online. Competitive price and prompt and safe delivery. Follow up call to check if all OK and if I wanted any further accessories. Will probably use them again.

I have persued my photographic hobby since my retirement. To do this I have purchased and exchanged camera equipment of all types. I have used The London Camera Exchange in Colchester. They have proved to be ideal. They are fair with their prices and above all else supportive. Time is no object and they try to ensure you achieve your objective - a good crew.

Very expensive, and rude service. I was going to buy from them, but when I went in was put off by their attitude, lack of product knowledge and price, I walked out again. Saw a bag for camera - which was marked half ticket price - ticket price £14.99 - so I figured around £7.50 o.k i'll have that. Member of staff said it was a mistake and 14.99 was actual price, their mistake not mine, and refused to sell/honour the price!!! I believe they have to honour their pricing errors. On the whole, all products quite expensive....

I was looking for a compact digital camera. I knew what I wanted, and I wanted to purchase offline so I could try it out first.
I realised it would cost more, and I was allowing for around £50 more than online.
I phoned the London Camera Exchange in Gloucester, and they had the item. They then quoted over £100 more online. When I asked if they could match another high street shop (Jessops), the man was extremely rude to me, and said "the cameras will be gone by the weekend, so your loss", and hung up!
If this is how a small franchise tries to compete with large cheaper high street chains, no wonder LCE Gloucester's prices are high, as I would imagine they have very few happy customers!
