I have to say I am quite pleased with my new Black Panther Premier Series Snare Drum. I have the walnut finish, and love how this drum speaks when you hit rim shots! Brushes sound great and when one plays double stroke rolls this snare handles like a dream! Well worth the cost and easy to tune! I really like the snare bed and turning off the snares is a snap! I would highly recommend the Premier Series to anyone that loves a good sounding snare drum.. (read more)

If you want a really good sounding wood snare drum then the Mapex Black Panther sounds better than most I've tried (including snares costing twice as much). Excellent, well made product which represents very good value for money.
It's the best snare I have ever had and it's going nowhere!

Mapex Black Panthers are the best snares i've ever played! I went from a mid-range kit snare, premier artist birch to a Mapex Black Panther and the difference was amazing, the sounds so much sharper and warmer, its miles easier to play and rim shots sound elite. Highly recommended! (read more)
