Recently bought a Nokia 5510 on ebay as I wanted one when they were first released but couldn't afford one at the time.
Nowhere near as big as I remember them. Radio and music player are really good, and the rest of the menus are laid out as every other Nokia has been. Would be considered a brick compared to the phones available now, but I really like it.

I purchased the Nokia 5510 quite a while back, in red. I was really excited when it arrived, but that's when I realised I made one of the biggest mistakes in my phone career. I couldn't believe the poor size of the phone. I could barely fit it in my pocket, and when I could I couldn't get it out!
This phone is pretty much the 3310 but with sideways keypad. If you use your phone a lot, and carry it arond with you - I suggest you do NOT buy this. This phone should be marketed for first time...

The Nokia 5510 is a decent phone, good features. Only the bad points let it down.
But seriously, it's a good phone.

OKay, my Nokia 5510 was second hand, and i bought it in the summer (03). It looks great - always draws attention because not many poeple have got it - and the mP3 player is good (if a little limited in memory by todays standards). The QWERTY keyboard allows you to txt quicker, but only when you've got used to it (which takes time). One of the only REAL problems is that the earpiece seems to be in an awkward place for some people - but only some. Oh and the back cover is a bit flimsy...

I got my nokia 5510 a few days ago. I got it for a price of 899 DKR (86,34 pounds).
For that price it is a great phone. I bought it for the Mp3 player. And was happy to find out it worked great!
I can use my own headset so i dont have to use Nokias little junky headset. But you need to use the adapter that comes with the phone .. but that is a good thing so you wont break the socket on the phone (having a normal headphone plug in the phone, in your pocket, would not be good for the...

I ordered the phone from a catalogue without thinking about the dimensions lol but i wanted something unique & thats what i got, it may be a little different but then again that reflects my personality, the mp3 system is great, the texting is cool, tjhe games are hard to play but overall it ROX!!!!!!!! Almost everything about this phone is better than it seemed apart from playing games. The controls are extremely hard but once you work it out it can get a bit easier. I have never been able to text faster unless I go to 02's website! The space key and the shift key make it really easy but still not cluttered. This is my 3rd phone (Nokia 7110, Siemens SL45i, Nokia 5510) and it's the best by a margine. Everything works flawlessly on it and is overall an excellent phone. (read more)

This Nokia 5510 is my 3rd phone i have purchased (Nokia 3210, 3310 and 5510) and this one has to be the worst one out of them all!! The QWERTY keyboard makes texting HARDER instead of easier. There is also no composer on this mobile phone, unless it is a flaw with Nokia, i'd say they'd rather you wasted your money on the SLOW WAP service and and download them, or you get ur m8 to compose one for you, and send it 2 you. I payed £230 and i am quite disappointed in this phone. I thought that... (read more)

When the Nokia 5510 was first released in New Zealand, the going price was $900 (that's about 1800 euros). When I went into a shop recently, I noticed that they are now down to $260 (520 euros). When I questioned why the price has dropped so dramatically, the sales assistant told me that they had bought all of Nokia New Zealand's stock at a huge discount. It makes sense; the trendy young people at whom the 5510 is aimed would never be able to afford to spend $900. However, at a more... (read more)

The only reason DSE are selling this handset so cheap are because Nokia have discontinued this model due to a number of issues with the handset.

And the user interface is not good. It's the usual boring interface Nokia have on most of their phones. It's getting really tedious. I'm glad the new 7650 and other models have a different interface for a change.

Alastair hasn't been reading his exchange rates, NZ$900 is about 450 Euros, not 1800 Euros as he states (1800 Euros would be about NZ$3600 - making one expensive nokia!)

When i got this phone I though it was totally fantastic. It is basically a 3330 with the ability to play mp3s. It has a cool design that I totally love, but I'm sure Nokia could have made it a little smaller. You get bored of the games real quick, as they are the same ones Nokia has been using since the 3310. By all means buy it, but later you may find it impracticle. Once again, the music player RULz!!! (read more)

The phone is great in many respects. The music quality is outstanding and it comes with really good software to download music and stuff. The FM radio is also cool. 5510 is a great mobile phone as it keeps me entertained when commuting. However this is its only good point. NAM is the WORST software I have ever used. Song transfer is SLOW and in most cases crashes half way through. After using the Nokia 5510, I was asking myself how I would be able to use another mobile phone again after being spoilt by the complete QWERTY keyboard and built-i MP3 Player and FM Radio. If you are the type who listens to music while waiting for the train, this mobile phone is for you. If you are a POWER TEXTER who has average-sized fingers, then this phone is for you. This Nokia 5510 mobile phone has served me well for a number of weeks. Only a few minor problems encountered, as outlined above. I'd recommend this to anyone who is a lover of music, and let's face it, that's nearly everybody.I won a Creative jukebox for my MP3 pleasure, but the 5510 has taken over as my primary source of music, because of its smaller size and radio function. DO NOT BUY!! I had my Nokia 5510 mobile phone for two months and sold it. Its keypad was very awkward to use and keys were too small to type anything that made sense, it weighed a ton, wouldn't fit in pocket, the phone casing creaked and groaned when used, the back cover fitted poorly, the front cover is fixed and cannot be replaced , battery life is ridiculous - it uses a smaller battery than 3310 which is bad enough but it has so many extra features and the battery does not support it very... Good phone, very easy to use, easy to use software. Sound quality is amazing and it has a equalizer too. With many of the phones you will be bored after playing 1 hour of Snake 2 or bantumi. With this one ... NO, because u can do a lot of things: listen to fm radio or to your favourite mp3's while playing snake 2, or check your phone book for some friend's phone number. The headphone and mic are seperate for a reason, so you can connect your own headphones but still use the Nokia mic. In the car I find this is awesome. I have the Nokia mic attached to my shirt and the sound playing thru the car stereo. I listen to MP3s and incoming calls thru the stereo. Unplug the handsfree mic and the phone mic is good enuff to let other passengers in the car talk to the caller too, just like an in-car conference call.

I use Nokia all the time because of it's user friendly software. I have used Nokia 2110, 5110, 3210, then this 5510. The shape is indeed too big for a mobile phone, I have difficulties bringing it everywhere, and it's not pocketsize. But I love the mp3 player, very fast downloading files, and clear sound. Also the AAC format is smaller than MP3, but has quality as good as MP3. The first mobile that can record from FM radio or other devices directly. Wish it's shrinkable ! (read more)

The Nokia 5510 is the best innovation done by Nokia this year. The mp3 player works very good and the audio quality is very good. I can hear MP3 songs all day long and there remains still enough capacity in the battery for phone calls. The FM radio has very good sensitivity but lacks of RDS.
