I bought my XS79 from my local dealer for about £100 with roughly £60 of extra stuff including a really decent scope, mounts, extra CO2 and wasp pellets.
This is my first air rifle so i cannot really compare it to other rifles, however i was VERY impressed, i expected an in-accurate glorified BB gun for £100 to be honest however i was pleasantly suprised.

The rifle is EXTREMELY accurate, i managed to annihilate a vodka bottle in one shot from about 20 meters away with the first shot i ever fired from it without really trying. I have barely missed anything i've been aiming at.
    Very impressive.

The whole bolt action thing is very satifying, it feels pretty cool to pull the bolt back each time and it makes a pretty awesome noise too.

Its heavy, but not too heavy.
All together very nice, im pleased with my purchase and i'd recommend it to anyone who is looking to get an air rifle for the first time.

    The only bad points i can think of are;

-You have to buy CO2 which is a bit of a bummer, but it lasts a while.

-the bolt on mine is a bit heavy to push back forward.

    other than that its perfect.

If your a first time buyer, GET A XS79.
    You wont regret it.

My friend spent over £400 on a BSA break barrel rifle and my rifle is more accurate and does more damage.

ALSO XS79s are EXTREMELY customisable, search "QB79 Bullpup" on google images. that looks fun ;).

I just picked this SMK XS79 rifle up today expecting a utilitarian weapon with paint applied by a monkey and machining done by a man who hasn't had the use of his eyes for quite some time now. Do not buy a B2 rifle and expect the rest of the smk range to be like that. This is in a different league! The action is smooth (ish), the trigger beds in surprisingly quickly, and it sits very well at the shoulder. It is very well shaped and sized for a medium sized person (5' 9"), although the cheek pie ...

It's a very good rifle, it's small, light, powerful, very accurate, and the co2 canasters last surprisingly long, been hunting three times with the only one and still hasn't run out.
have had no problems taking down rabbits, pigeons, and pheasants even at 70 yards. Bolt action, user friendly, good rifle for beginners.
No bad points about this rifle, (in my opinion).

I have the .22 and i love it, great 2 build on. The SMK XS79 is a great all round air rrifle. After about a month of use one of the barrell mount screws fell out. They need to be checked frequently but this doesnt cause a problem.

If you want a budget gun that looks good is solidly built these will do the job of guns costing 3 times as much happy hunting i know i do with all of mine.
Good finish to metalwork and stock but i have latest versions power in my .22is 10.9 power in my .177 is 10.4 which i might add is exactly the same as my new s400!and the gun is just as accurate i have 3 of these and absolutely love them they are great inexpensive guns you will not get better for twice the price i have deluxe in 22 standard ...

Excellent value for the money , good and accurate as it is but with only a little work can be truly excellent . If you are reasonably handy you can take the workings out of the stock and Tidy it up . I would heartily recommend the upgrade from T R Robb , especially the trigger kit , it's easy to follow the DVD and the improvement it truly excellent . I have also modified the stock to fit me , if I can work out how to upload the photographs I will do so as it is very basic joinery but has made a ...

A good accurate gun, plenty of power for small game and it can be made into a little gem with a performance valve kit.
It can easily be upgraded with a 9oz canister( see good points).

These comments are for the .22 version.

Overall a rather good little rifle. The first one I bought leaked badly at the connector valve O-rings and at the main seal. I took it back and the exchange one was fine. I noticed that the replacement had a larger, brass connector valve fitted. The leaking gun had a smaller aluminium one; perhaps a mod to cure a known problem?

The gun holds it's pressure. I find it next to impossible to fire off in a single session the whole 250 shots that the larg ...

I've had my gun about 4 months now. I've done a lot of mods to it including changing the gas source to a 9 ounce paintball bottle from the states. I've fitted a tuning kit from tr robb airgun specialist (look on Google). I have also had the barrel shortened by 4 inches and the stock by 2 inches. I've got a Tasco 3-9 x40 scope on it along with the SMK silencer its amazing. I just wish they made a silencer for it, even if it was a home made one I'd use it.

This rifle is accurate, about as accurate as you will ever get for a rifle for this price range (Brand New). Very cheap, great bargain. I have used this rifle for plinking a lot with various pellets. Some were in-accurate but the majority were very satisfying. At 20 yards, you will get a good grouping of around 1". I found that Bisley Magnums were good. DO NOT use the iron sights, they are sh**. Buy a scope for it, you will be much more satisfied, even with the little added weight. I've used thi ...

This is my first co2 gun and i would recommend it to all, especially beginners in co2 guns. I was using some Milbro jet pellets with the gun at first, and the accuracy wasn't that great, they were going all over the place. I was advised by SMK to use MILBRO SELLECT pellets, as they had the best results in the tests. So i bought a tin, and had a go, i thought they might help a bit, but i didn't expect much difference to be honest. But i was amazed with the results. The where all hitting the red d ...

As i put i will not hear a word said against this gun, I've had it for 6 months and had 30+ rabbits and more pigeon's who ever says don't go rabbiting can't hit the target i find it more easier an consistent than a mate's BSA Lightning no kick more power and nicer to hold. As a introduction to co2 air rifles i can find none better!
