I got a really nice car from them price was ok but when came to paying got told was t allowed to use a cheque by cheque I Kent cashiers cheque that was the first problem second problem was the locking nut they told me that they had misplaced it but what was the case was they had lost it but they told me the next day they would bring me my locking nut but they seemed to think that I wasn't there and they could ignore me and after spend time riniging them they told me that they were going to get me fitted a new one and because of this I had to drive to them to get it fitted and then I had to drive to them to pick it up because they said they had to check it fitted but fitted now they gave me some diesel as compensation but in only if this the customer service that I have meet face to face was amazing the hand over team was not and that was what let it down.

I went to The Car People in Ashton over the weekend, no hassle as I browsed the cars but found it a little pressurizing the sales person stood outside the car whilst I sat in it, I didn't feel I could have a proper look at the car. Again hassle free once I took the car for a test drive and wanted the night to go away and think about whether this was the best deal for me. However, things declined from here and this is where the hassle started. Two missed calls and a voicemail in a day followed by a text message the next day asking me to call. I had specifically said I wanted time to think... so give me time to think. Keep ringing and texting me is making me a hell of a lot less likely to return and I am now considering going elsewhere, where they do truly offer a hassle free service. Unfortunately, you have let yourselves down as I was quite prepared to buy a car from here, at my own pace.

I was very interested in a Ford Mondeo estate with automatic gears as I have just had a knee operation and was finding it very difficult driving a manual. The staff were very helpful and I was not pressurized at all after my test drive. I bought the car, but was amazed that they didn't have a delivery service. I live near Brigg N Lincs which is a good hours drive away from Sheffield. Last year I bought a car of less value from Sturgges of Leicester, they delivered it free of charge. Anyway couple of weeks later, we broke down in Bedford, we ran out of fuel, the AA said it was a faulty fuel gauge sender. So we then had to take it back to The car people at Sheffield to get it accessed ( no collection ) and book it in again the following week once the parts had arrived, another journey. My wife had to come with me to bring me back as they couldn't provide me with a courtesy car with auto gear box, in fairness they did offer me a manual one, but that's no good to me. A day later yet again my wife had to take the time again to drop me off to collect the car. The job had been done, and I was given the key without even an apology for all of my inconvenience. I was expecting them to of at least washed the car for me, but that wasn't done either. They could of done so much more, like a discount on the next car I buy. Well needless to say I am one disgruntled customer, and next time I'm in the market for buying a new car, The car people will be way down at the bottom of the list and Sturges will be way up at the top.

Saw a car on line, travelled to Wakefield to see the car. The salesman I dealt with was very good and helpful. Made the experience very enjoyable. Signed up for the car went to pick it up the following week, paid by electronic transfer on the Friday sent remainder by electronic transfer sat morning but the funds didn't reach them in time. The handover guy said the funds not received, so obviously couldn't let car go. (Fair enough)!. Wasn't told transfering money on Saturday would take longer. Handover guy didn't seem interested in helping. Was passed onto a manager who did help. Very pleased with car so would use again. Just make sure money is transferred in week not sat.

Not as good as expected. Very pleased with the car it has been well looked after by the previous owners, this car was my sons 1st after just passing his test he is 18 The car we purchased was at the Wakefield depot and we live in Sheffield, after putting a deposit on the car we where asked to return to collect in 2 days time, when we arrived to collected the we where told that it could have been delivered to Sheffield depot. This would have saved a 50 mile round trip. Wasn't told that they would put some petrol in for us (at a cost) until we collected... my son who has little 'real' driving experience had to search the busy streets of Wakefield for a garage to put some fuel in. You would think that after spending over 5k on a car the least they could do would be to put some petrol in to get you home? All cars have a 90 day warranty but if you purchase the 'extra cover' warranty you do not get this. We spent £600 on a 2 year warranty only to loose the 90 day one, as the 2 year policy started as we left the forecourt. Although it says on the car info it has a full service history the service handbook had not been stamped since August 2014. After paying by bank transfer 2 days before we collected the car I was asked twice at the hand over how was I paying. My son was never shown how to operate the controls etc, we had to fathom this out ourselves, not a big issue though.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback and sorry to hear about your experience. This is not up to our usual high standard of service and we take such feedback very seriously. We are struggling to find your details on our system, so would be very grateful if you could, if you haven't already, contact us with your details so that we can investigate this further. Thanks again.

Was going to write a rave review about Car People until I got the Log book for my new car. I now discover that my car was previously owned by a company who lend out cars to people who have been in accidents - hardly "one careful owner" material. I am concerned that my warranty with Ford may not be valid now.

We're sorry to hear about your disappointment with your new car. Many nearly new cars are bought from hire companies and are maintained beyond the manufacturer's specifications so we can assure you that you have bought a high-quality car and that the manufacturer's warranty is intact. If you'd like to discuss this with someone further please get in touch through the telephone number on our website. Thanks.

I have spoken to numerous staff in the manchester dealership; at least 6 times i have been promised that the deposit i paid would be refunded and had been processed and yet i still have not received it! When i initially paid the deposit i was told it would be paid back the day i collected the car. Over two weeks ago.. I have even spoken to managers and yet it still has not been resolved.
Written on: 09/05/2016
We understand that your deposit was refunded on the 4th May and can take up to 5 working days for it to show in your bank account. We appreciate your frustrations and offer our sincere apologies for the delay in getting your deposit back to you.

staff obliging but gave wrong information about a car I was looking for cost me a 60 mile journey when I bought a car they were very obliging could not do enough when collecting the car the work they were going to carry out was not done to my satisfaction and had a week to complete it took them just 30mins to complete while I waited upon collecting the car told I had a 90 day warranty read the small print I took mine back with a tracking problem after a week and was told 72 hrs only on steering I thought the problem was a sticking break and left it a week to see if the problem would clear big mistake over 72hrs and you are on your own not happy with customer services common sense is not there strong point I think after my experience the car people will be off my list of future purchases
Written on: 15/03/2016
We deeply apologise for your experience and are in the process of resolving it after it was raised to our attention on Twitter. We try to be crystal clear over what the 90 day warranty covers, including what is covered in the first 72 hours, which is listed first on the document we give our customers at handover. We understand there is a lot to cover at handover, so anything that was not made clear to you will not have been intentional, so again we apologise for that and hope we can resolve your issue swiftly.

the car people got in touch with and I took the car back to the dealer I got the car from not the branch nearest to myself and the matter was resolved to my satisfaction they were very apologetic and while I was there a small paint job had been overlooked they loaned me a courtesy car and the paint job was done also so sorry to the car people and thank you for a job well done common sense is still used by the car people and thanks once again

We visited the car people on a Sunday afternoon, found the front of house team (Sales Staff) very helpful and allowed us to browse hassle free. Also they were very happy to us to test drive two cars of our choice so we could make our mind up. We found this a great service with no issues, until we actually wanted to buy the car. We bought our car on finance and had to wait up to 48 hours for a call in regards to this to see if had been accepted. I rang them the first day to see if everything was ok, who advised me they were still waiting which wasn't an issue. Promised a call by the end of the next day but had nothing, had to ring myself at 4.30pm that day. To be advised they required a bigger deposit before they would submit it, i was then promised a phone call back at 5.30pm no call, rang them to find they had all gone home! After numerous phones calls and chasing, we finally got a an answer the day before we were due to pick the car up, 4 days in total waiting. It was a rush to get everything sorted for the handover the next day. I found the whole process pretty stressful as much as i am happy with the car, i am doubtful i would go back. The handover, the car was ready and cleaned when had arrived, we arrived 15 mins earlier as requested. The staff member as first seemed to know what she was doing, was helpful when she showed us around the car, however when it came to the paper work she was patronizing and seemed to not quite have a clue what she was doing. We were sat waiting for around for quite a while, while she went looking for "paperwork" then told me they had lost my deposit, then thought i'd paid twice.I was just about to finally drive off in the car when i was brought back in, to sit and wait for another piece to sign! Overall, as i said before. Lovely car, great front of house sales people. However, shocking lack of communication and organisation, i've never known a car sales to seem so uninterested in selling a car.

This is the fourth car we have bought from the Car People, and always felt they had been upfront and honest with us - also recommend to family and friends because of this! On this occasion they were only willing to offer £4500 for our trade in claiming that the car had to go to auction. Despite us believing it was worth more and trying to negotiate an improved offer, they were adamant that they could offer no more. So we were shocked to see our trade in on their forecourt at £6000, seven days later! This has raised questions about their honesty with us and has made us believe we should look else where in the future!

Hi, really sorry to hear about this. Please could you provide the reg number of either the car you purchased or part-exchanged so we can pass this onto senior management for review? Thanks
Written on: 18/01/2016
We would also like to make it clear we are never intentionally misleading. On cars over a certain and age and mileage we do value them at auction disposal prices due to the fact that our pre sale checks are so demanding. There are occasions when these cars meet our criteria and we are able to retail them.
We are sorry this has happened in your case but please feel assured that the price offered will be higher than any independent Car Buying Service and we certainly did not intend to mislead you.

first of the car I bought is fine and what I wanted my complaint and the part that spoiled the whole car buying experience when asked about when viewing the car it was night time and wet I asked if any scratches or marks was told if a scratch is visable at one meter it will be loged and told about secondly when aske about the mot was told it passee all great no scatches no problem with mot so I liked the car and baught it cash went home sorted insurance and tax as I picjked car up next day could see lots of scratches and the mot had an advisery the hand over manager had really bad attitude and was very patronising on my side I felt I was pushed into a corner as it would have ment me cancelling insurance at a cost and loosing six months tax so I went ahead and baught the cat if I wpld have been told about these issues I may not have gone ahead with the purchase

We'd like to apologise for the disappointing experience and that the car was not prepared to our usual high standard. If the valet bay is closed, we often, on request, allow customers to check over a car inside if it's wet, so that they can pick out anything we may have missed and improve it. Regarding the MOT, the car already had more than 6 months MOT when it came in to us, which is our minimum standard, however any advisories are checked over and rectified if they haven't already been by the previous owner. Also apologies for the attitude of the handover manager, this has been raised to senior management and will be reviewed.

After contacting the customer service manager at our Manchester site, he informed us that your car was given a complimentary revalet on the 2nd November. We also checked the stone chip on the windscreen (the advisory in question) and found it too small for repair and shouldn't be a cause for concern. The site manager was already made aware of your complaint against the handover manager when you gave our customer contact centre feedback, and again when you provided your review here. Should you have any further queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I bought an Audi A1 from the car people. The service was ok and I was not hassled whilst browsing the cars. There was always someone there to speak to. Only down fall was that they were all giving me different figures on what profit they were actually making on the car, one guy said £90 the other said £30 and another said £20. Obviously no-one falls for that as we all know that no dealer/car shop sells a car to make £20/£30/£90 profit and if they are going to try and convince people on this then they all need to stick to one story. I part exchanged my ford KA in for the Audi and was loriginaly offered £550 for it in the condition I had explained it to be, once I got it to the car prople to be inspected they tried to knock me down to £300 saying that the car was not in the condition I had originally said, when in actual fact it was the sales man who had not wrote the details down correctly, this resulted in me only getting £475 for my part exchange due to the sales mans negligence so just be aware of that when you part exchange. Now I've had that little moan I can say that overall the experience was pretty decent apart from that little hick up and I can honestly say that they are the best priced car dealer around. I am very happy with my new car.

the environment is very nice to buy a car from and they are very helpful and not pushy... However after you've bought the car they don't want to deal with you I have a very small issue with my car I have rang them 3 times and not had an answer on the 4th I finally got through to someone and we booked the car in but it's 3 weeks away for them to even take a look at the problem...

after looking around i found a car 1.4 Seat Ibiza and was approached by a friendly sales agent, after looking around the car i asked has it full MOT and he then answer yes.. so i decided i would have it and payed a deposit to secure of £200, on pick up day i signed for the car and payed another £1300 and then was given keys manual MOT certificates. i then discover it has 6 months and a few days ( anything below 6 months they automatically renew it to 12 months ) i phoned up and they was very unhelpful, wouldn't do nothing as it was above 6 months even tho i was inaccurately given false information all i wanted was it to be MOT with 12 months as i was told on the first visit i made ( Wakefield ) as it shows its fully functional happy with the car looks nice and price was ok just not with customer services as they was very keen on not helping

bought a Honda civic from them the sales staff who went through the sale with us was a great lad very pleasant and have since spoke to him and was the same very good customer service. However the after sale service is rubbish, had a problem with my power steering which kept failing two weeks after purchase went to see the service team and the best they could do for me was three weeks later "because I needed a courtesy car". so the service manager told me I could take car to halfords for this sorting through my warranty package!! BASICALLY they don't want to know you when you have purchased and I have recommended them to family which I will now be putting family right and telling them not to bother. I have also have had to go back today to the service desk and found the manager on the desk arrogant and not very polite!!! I will be using Halfords for any problems I have with the car if any in the future SHAME ON YOU CARPEOPLE

Sales staff were great, bad points on handover, two chips in windscreen, not seen on test drive because green sticker in window covering it, did fix it, but can still see it. Both me and my wife were picking up cars on the same day, wife happier than me.

I purchased a car off them during the week and since it has been nothing but a nightmare with them and their finance company, I had to drive 100 miles to sign a form after driving 100 the previous day in a mad rush after work. Today the finance has all gone through however they are unable to sort the handover out until Tuesday, meaning this weekend whilst I'm in Manchester no longer gives me the opportunity to save on driving. I will have to drive an additional 100 miles. I would have thought for the money spent the car would be ready to pick up at my convenience. Not no hassle, further out of pocket than necessary and stresses. won't buy again or recommend. sorry

Bought a car last week at Wakefield and had it shipped up from Sheffield branch when trying to contact someone to gain some information I kept getting told they would call me back because the person a needed was busy after 3 phone calls by my self to carpeople someone eventually called me back . Yet i did have a phone call whilst waiting , from another department try to sell other products to me ! I have bought of these guys several times before and they were great but I do feel things have changed since last purchase I made , more emphasis seems to be on the add ons now

The salesman who dealt with me was very good. However on receiving my paperwork through the post i read that my deposit was acceptance of the cars overall condition. Even though it was raining when viewed. I went to collect the car as arranged to find one panel covered in overspray. This had clearly been prepared and legt in this condition. Although it was put right, i had to wait another half an hour. After driving the car for a few days i noticed a loud vibration gtom the engine bay. As the car was still under it's manufacturer warranty, i took it straight to vauxhall. They confirmed a faulty turbo boost component. my point here is that these two items should have been picked up before putting it on the forecourt, not by myself. It's a real shame too because the whole buying experience was relaxed. However i have spent more time sorting their faults than actually enjoying my new car. I also asked what service had been carried out so i knew for future reference in terms of requirments. The salesman just said service he would supply a copy of the record of service. I read this when i returned home. It was totally useless as it just pointed out that the box was ticked, but not that any parts/ filters etc had been fitted. Would i buy from them again. Yes i probably would. But i would be less trusting and more demanding on what i should have been asking for. Records etc.

When I customer's visit has been logged, our contact centre will attempt to contact you the next day just for some feedback on the service provided.
