Good Points: Fantastic food if a little expensive, and a lovely pub full of character. Very pleasant and welcoming staff - nothing was too much trouble.

Bad Points: The rooms were a little shabby and my quilt smelt of sweat. Could do with a good lick of paint and modernising. Our radiator in our room would not work, and the room was freezing. Also, as we were at the back of the pub, we were above the kitchens and opening the window was not an option, due to the smells coming out of the ventilation.

General comments: Four of us recently stayed at the Fullerton Arms in Ballintoy and had a lovely stay. The pub was lovely, full of character and olde worlde charm. The staff were extremely pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. The food was extremely good, if a little limited. They did not inform us when we booked that the restaurant was only open during the summer season, but normally the full menu was still available in the pub - except when we were there, as their chef was off ill, so the menu consisted of eight choices both for lunch and dinner.

What food was available was extremely well cooked, and there was plenty of it, and I have to say my steak was one of the best I have ever eaten. The Irish stew was also very good.

I do appreciate that we visited out of season, but the rooms took a lot to be desired. They were old fashioned, could have been cleaner and our quilt stank of someone else's sweat, which is not pleasant. The radiator in our room would not work, and despite the help of the barman, unfortunately we could not get the thing to work - we were freezing all night, thankfully we were only staying for the one night.

All in all we had a very good visit both to the area and the pub, but I do think they need to update their accommodation somewhat. Staff could not be faulted, and the food was excellent.
