Recently taken over the running of a CMS site but within a few weeks there were problems with PHP which was becoming not compatible with the latest technology. There was a genuine interest in all the support staff who looked at the issue, whether you contacted them by phone or email. I have been with UKHost4U for about 3 years and have had probably 1-2 problems during that time. Each time I contacted their customer service team my problem was 100% resolved by the end of that day if not much sooner. I've always had polite emails from their team and never any SPAM. I have never had any website downtime. They are incredibly cheap and offer a lot of unlimited services in their Cpanel that normally incur extra charges from other hosts. Signed up with UKHOST4U for their starter web package. Entered my domain name that I manage myself and completed the checkout. Confirmation email stated that I had not told them my domain name at signup, so if I wanted to change this to the one I chose there would be a £10 admin fee. Frankly outrageous. Poor customer service. Rubbish backend management (skinned down version of ClientExec). Avoid these guys! (read more)

They boast on the "About Us" page of all their partners and that they have a "multi-million pound" network. So, how can a sole trader based in Fife afford to have their own multi million poound network you may ask? The truth is they do not. UKhost4u in my experience as an ex-customer should not be trusted. Moreover, whatever you do, do not transfer or acquire any domain name through them, if you have a web hosting package with them. They can hold you to ransom, especially if you find that you have a genuine complaint against them. I cannot undertand how the U.K.s premier web hosting company - which is how they describe themselves on their website - is in actual fact just a sole trader?
Why does any "company" - as it is not a limited company at all - with 250,000 customers as stated on their website, not seek the advantages of being a limited company. One answer might be, that its financial details would then be public knowledge.
My advise would be to be very cautious in dealing with any organisation that somehow "seems too good to be true" and which hides behind the status of sole trader when all logic suggests it should be a limited company. But then, perhaps their accountants - who also just happen to give the first customer testimonial as to how good the company is - should be asked? Personally, if I was a practicising professional accountant I would never provide a client with a testimonial. Why? because it is so difficult to avoid the suspicion that the testimonial is given as a favour for work referred to the accountancy practice!

When I ran into problems trying to renew my domain name with a really unhelpful company I called UKHost4U. They weren't able to do anything initially but still offered helpful advice and helped me understand the system better. (Name removed) may be a good guy but the rest, in particular the owner, are not good guys. I would not trust them with my credit card details. If you have given your credit or debit card details to Ukhost4u make sure you check your statements carefully. Thye use automatic renewals but don't tell you in advance that they are going to renew your domain nmes, web hosting packages etc.
Why don't they tell you in advance? Yes, you've guessed it is all part of their "excellent customer support", or, is it in fact because they don't want to give you the chance to find a much better web hosting company.
Read the poor reviews on this site and elsewhere on the Internet and don't be fooled by the glossy website is my advice.

Fortunately, I was only a "customer" with UKhost4u for a short time. I wish I had never been a customer of the organisation. I made the mistake of accepting a recommendation from a web developer - I thought I could trust. So, lesson number 1, never accept a recommendation from a web developer to use a web hosting company. They are probably a reseller and will get commission or reduced fees for their own web hosting activity.
Lesson number 2 - never have your domain name registered with the same company that provides web hosting fro that domain. Again, I made the mistake of doing this with UKhost4u. I transferred my domain name as I thought it made sense to have it mamaged by my web hosting company. It does not make sense to do that and I would recommend that anyone who has such an arrangement with Ukhost4u should immediately arrange a transfer of the domain name - especially if they are just starting out in business and have not yet built up their Sales. Otherwise, if you do have a major problem with UKhost4u - like I did - you may find it very difficult to extract yourself from UKhost4u.
Lesson number 3. Do your research before you select a web hosting company. Ukhost4u describe themselves on their website as The U.K.s premier web hosting company. In my opinion, that is a total mis-description. Indeed, I doubt very much if UKhost4u are the premier web hosting company in Fife (where they are based) yet alone the U.K!
Lesson number 4. Don't believe some of the positive reviews on this website. If Ukhost4u are so good, how come, they don't let all their "satisfied" customers leave testimonials on their website? My view is that the testimonials are selected by the owner - to only show the good points. Don't be taken in by those testimonials.

This comapany are terrible my site nationaltrades.net has been down once or twice a week for the past 6 weeks I now have to change hosting comanies when I wrote no manger no reply so now I am going on every hosting review site to let others know. Our site has been down all weekend, and all day yesterday. It's now tuesday and the only response I've had will be it'll be done when its done (rebuilding a server). This is totally unhelpful, and now not only are my sites down, my clients sites and my emails.
I have no idea when my sites will be back up and have no idea when my clients sites will be back up. Their twitter feed has been dormant for hours.

How you we know that these are not being written by members of the company? Do we know it's a company at all? Is it a one man band? All went well until renewal time. The renewal price was not competitive so I decided to move.
They denied me access to my web-files so I would be unable to port my sites to new hosting. They stated unless I paid for a renewal that they would not give me access.
Communication got quite nasty and I ended out never getting access and had to rebuild my sites without it.
Nasty people whom I hope I never come across again.

Okay okay, some things arnt always configured correctly straight away, like static IPs. But these guys know exactly what they're talking about and help really quickly. I'm really happy with the service I've had from UKHost4U, hosting 4 or 5 different accounts for different customers. Servers are always fast and easy to use.

They offer a tempting hosting package, but fail miserably at customer service. They also make it as difficult as possible to cancel hosting accounts. With a need to confirm, and re-confirm time and time again, first after completing an online survey followed by an email later that day asking you to re-confirm you do want to leave them. They will charge your account if you fail to do everything they ask to cancel.

They lost our DB with 5 years of data, emails always going down, site offline for hours on end. When you ask for some explanation you never receive any?
They NEVER backup servers in case of emergancies. For the purpose of punctiating my next statement; they don't give a flying **** what you think!!

I have been with UKHost4u since 2004. I have nothing but praise for the company. I am highly satisfied with the help I receive from the support team, they are very efficient both by phone and email. My site has only been down twice in six years and both times they were down through fault of my own.
I can't think of anything negative to say about UKHost4u, my six years experience with them has all been positive

I have been a customer of ukhost4u now for a number of years. Sometimes I can be a little needy as a client but the support I receive from the guys there is always prompt and gets me moving again.
Over time I used other hosts and quickly came to realise that when choosing a hosting company, support has to be way up there in your list of priorities.

As someone who was new to websites and hosting, I did find 'start-up' somewhat of a challenge. I did initially experience a number of frustrating problems that questionned my use of UKHost4u. However, all problems have been promptly resolved in a professional, friendly and efficient manner.

I've had 3 different websites with them and have recommended them to friends who have also had flawless experiences with them, except for 2 people - both who had Windows hosting and both who have been plagued with problems.

I sympathise with you Jon. You are right everyone should avoid them like the plague. I am sad to say that someone hosts their domain ukhost4u scotland -cogent which allows them to use Pulsant's Blue Square Data Centre in London. Please, whoever you are that hosts that domain, pull the plug on them like they have done to me!

I believe they have been known to fraudulently post lots of positive reviews about themselves. UKHOST4U are horrendous. No customer service. I get the impression It's a popup shop where someone thought they'd 'give hosting a try'. TERRIBLE. AVOID.

No, they have been going for years unfortunately. No doubt relying on resellers - especially website designers - to promote them for commission! I used to think that the banks were the worst organisations I had come across but ukhost4u.com are as I have said elsewhere the pits!
