Good Points: Classic games imported from MOM such as Ram Ray, a new and improved version of Name that Tone now pumping on your stereo, incorporates CITV shows such as Finders Keepers, Spongebob and is presented by the fantastic duo Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern. There is also a choice of cartoons as it is broadcast on the CITV channel as well as ITV1.
Bad Points: The set. There is no in-studio audience so it loses a lot of life.
General comments: Holly and Stephens Saturday Showdown was first aired on January 7th 2006 as the New-Look Ministry of Mayhem. The format had been radically adapted to a boys v girls show where points were earned throughout the morning playing games such as Ram Ray, Rays Tiny Tiddlers, Pumping on your Stereo, Dodge Dollys Balls, Scratch's cupboard and the grand finale Celebrity Window Cleaners. The very first show was full of guessing games apart from the highlight of the morning which was Supermarket Sneak. It was rubbish. The features suddenly converted back to MOM style and Supermarket Sneak was dropped. Ram Ray made a welcome return as did a visit from the Doc. Studio performances were re-introduced debuting with Girls Aloud- Whole Lotta History. The camera crew can be heard again with their reactions so overall, the new show doesn't seem like a new show anymore. It seems well wore in, a good format to follow and very entertaining. This show is getting better all the time so will soon be a ratings winner again. Catch Holly and Stephens Saturday Showdown on ITV1 & The CITV Channel at 9.25am on Saturdays. Extra follows on the CITV Channel at 11:30.
