I have owned my 710/.270 for five years, in that time i've killed gopher, deer, elk , antelope, and many a beer can. I've had successful shots on antelope at approx. 300 yards. This is a fantastic rifle. you will hear people say it's muzzle heavy. My opinion is that most synthetic stock guns are, but it's a HUNTING RIFLE. The gun is going to get laid on rocks and stumps, why would you scratch up your fancy wooden stock.

I own a 710/270 and love mine. Ive herd alot of people putting it down as a cheep starter gun, but i dont look at it that way. It`s just a great gun all around. Only thing i changed about mine was the scope. I up graded to a larger scope for way longer shots. Besides that i dont see why alot of people put this gun down, and even the ones who put it down still love the shooting group it leaves on a traget. I own alot of guns new`er and older, but when deer seasons in the 710/270 is sitting there… Read Full Review

I own a rem 710 270 i bought mine about 9 years ago and i have killed alot of deer with this gun. Great starer gun for someone who is learning to hunt good distance i shot a buck at 170 yards. Only thing i dontlike about it is that it dont have barrel sights. Not a good brush gun cause not barrel sight and the bullet. But like i said i would buy another one if the price is right for my child for when he stars hunting i want him to have the same advantage i did. Now my 270 is in my cabinets… Read Full Review

i bought my 270 used from a friend with a lower end bushnell 3x9 scope and it performs just as accurate as my friends high dollar wood stock winchester 270 with $1200 leopold scope. i love the rifle all the way down to its low recoil. although i did find it a little front heavy so when u sling carry it on your back the barrel wants to move from side to side making it a little annoying to carry down a long dirt road… Read Full Review

I have the exact same rifle, its and all around great gun.
I'm 23 year's of age and plan on hunting with my Remington model 710..270, for a long time to come. Before I purchased my model 710. I thought that you had to have the 7mm or 300mag. I always told others the 243 and 270cal Rifles were'nt worth having, that they did'nt have the power or accuracy that these bigger cal rifles have. I come to find out that I was wrong. I would not trade my rifle model 710 for any other rifle on the… Read Full Review

I've had this rifle, bored in .270 by the way, for many years now and it's never given me any problems except for the clip. It can be a bit of a pain to put in, but other than that, it's great. I've used this for hunting deer for many years and have dropped every deer I've shot at on sight. Just this deer season, I dropped a great sized buck from 60 yards, no problem. I have a Bushnell 3x9 scope on mine and with it, my shooting is dead accurate. All-out great gun. Nice and light, decent amount… Read Full Review

“In .270 cal, I have a wonderful gun for the money,...”

Written on: 06/11/2009

In .270 cal, I have a wonderful gun for the money, first thing was to have the trigger jeweled and the pull is now at 1 1/2 lbs, replaced the 3x9x40 with a DOA 3x12x40 and am able to shoot out to 600 yards. Winchester 130 gain Silvertip Ballistics are within 1/2 inch MOA at 100 yards in a quick 3 shot grouping. Considering these changes make it a "custom" rifle to me and I will take any shot at a pig or a whitetail with anyone...300 yards or longer is not an issue, it isn't the rifle folks… Read Full Review

I am a gunsmith for the United States Army. I purchased a Remington Model 710 300 Win Mag. from Gander Mountain in Canton,Ohio back in 2007, I love the gun! I hear a lot of bad things about them but it's a know fact that if you maintain your firearms they WILL NOT fall apart and WILL perform when you want them to. I have maintained mine for the last 2 or 3 years keeping it oiled and cleaning it very frequently. The gun performs far beyond my expectations. It was purchased for $350.00 out the… Read Full Review

Written on: 05/03/2009 by EAGLE EYE 086 (1 review written)

The Remington Model 710 chambered in 270 is a great all purpose rifle! I have compared some ballistic charts to the 30-06 and taken both to the field ,and the 270 has a greater range in my opinion. Not taking anything away from the 30-06, but I like the 270 better! They both are great rifles! So go out and get one, you won't be sorry!… Read Full Review

Written on: 15/01/2009 by Grey Board (1 review written)

I purchased this Remington Model 710 caliber 270rifle in .270 after my other hunting weapon was stolen. With a kid in college, I could no longer afford a Browning or a Ruger, so I took what I could get. I have been a shooter for 40 years, reloader for nearly that long, and I find the gun shoots fine. Truthfully, I don't understand the negative press on the rifle. Don't buy it and expect a custom built look or performance! I don't buy a Ford expecting to get a Lexus! I took a very nice… Read Full Review

i like the factory setting on the trigger you know when it is goin to go off.
