Good Points: Great setting 10min walk from Chenonceaux close to Amboise and all the main tourist atractions of the Loire helpfull owners and good staff

Bad Points: hort water tends to get a little cold at peek periods

General comments: Le Moulin Fort is a great site with great standards and very helpfull owners who do not tolerate lager louts, noisy campers or anti social behavior (if you want to booze till 04.00am go to the Vendee) and if you would not want to go back to this great site- good you are probably not the type of person they want or many people would want to camp next to.

This is a great site for children and if you like a little bit of Britain abroad. Only a few other nationalities here. The location is second to none. So much to do close by. Contrary to another review we found quite few friendly campers at night time, although there were a lot groups and they tended not to mix very well.
Most other campers were there to enjoy their holiday but we were sadly confronted by a Brit who didn't like children running round (in the School Holidays). I'm not sure whet ...

This is a small family run campsite with excellent facilities. The shower block is very clean and the grounds well looked after. The shop is well stocked with the basics should you forget anything and they offer bread and pastries (which you order the day before). We didn't try the restaurant as we preferred to explore the nearby villages.Although we can't recommend this campsite enough, part of us wants to keep it a secret!

We stayed here in 2004. We had a reasonable time visiting many of the towns and villages in the area. The French people were cheerful, happy, laid back and accommodating. The proprietor of Le Moulingn Fort was anything but. He seemed to be constantly on the prowl for people who transgressed any of his personal standards.I found him to be rude and patronising and not too tolerant of the people we became friendly with who did not share our British culture.I would never stay at this camp site again ...

It upsets me when I see hurtful comments from people who only know one side of the story. The owners work very hard whilst trying to raise a young family, the youngest is only 18 months old. The man in particular works from early morning until late at night and it is quite clear when the bar opening times are, in high season it is all day. I find both extremely nice people who work hard to look after their guests.

The owners are picky, rude and treat their staff abysmally.
I felt extremely sorry for the poor girls working there Unfortunately their attitudes and rudeness does not end there, however is extended to their clients. We cut our visit sort because of this.

We stayed here in 2005 and the location is absolutely fine. I agree with the review about leaving the bar early. I found some staff to be fussy. We were on holiday and we did not want to be treated as if we were at school.
Perhaps some of the staff have their own opinions of what they want to achieve but when you pay as much to stay as we did then we would expect to be treated a bit better.
    Won't go back again.

We visited this site in June 2007 and expected to be blown away with the service given the other review we read on this website. We must say we were disappointed. Being asked to leave the bar because the owners family was asleep in the top of the house was ridiculous and he was not very subtle in asking us to leave. We are in our 50's and it was the first time either of us have been asked to leave a bar in Europe before 4.00am! We were much better treated at a French run site in Jard su Mer the ...

We spent 4 weeks at the Loire Valley, Le Moulin Fort site in August 2005. John and Sarah are great hosts, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The campsite is one of the cleanest we have been to. Everything was immaculate. Very picturesque, peaceful and an absolute joy to stay at. We were so impressed we booked again before we left for this year for another 4 weeks. If you want somewhere to stay that is not full of hustle and bustle and noise this is the place to stay. The weather ...
