I don't know everything there is to know about GPS units, but so far the Nav-Cam 7000 has performed with very little trouble. I've had to hard boot it one time when it locked up for some reason unapparent to me. I haven't gotten to use it on a cross country trip yet, but on several in state trips it has performed with "Spot On" accuracy. I've read some negative reviews on this unit, and quite frankly don't understand why they are complaining. So, it doesn't need MP3, and Picture viewing capabilities, but it has them so get over it. If you don't like the features don't use them. It has always locked on in what I perceive to be almost record time, like about 45 seconds. I'm accustomed to my old Magellan hand held taking about five minutes to lock on. Maybe I'm too easilly satisfied, or maybe some others are too picky. All in all I would buy it again, and am very pleased with it's performance.
