I liked the card and its benefits (BA miles) until I found I was being hit for two foreign currency conversion charges everytime I used my amex card in Europe. First convert Euro to US$ and then convert the US$ amount to GP Pounds. Each conversion hit me at 2.99%. Sounds like a 6% double dip to me... The exchange rate was also not necessairy set on the day of the transactions... so future surprises are possible.

Am very disappointed as can not exchange money or get money out of cash machine s abroad with my BA AMEX card. The whole point of getting it was so I used it when I travelled abroad. Am definitely thinking of changing it for a VISA or Mastercard credit card.

I have the premium plus card, it's great as you only need to spend £10k in a year and you get a free flight for your companion. This year we are travelling first class due to a BA Miles offer. Great card - only issue is not everywhere accepts AMEX as they charge more than other cards.

Now need to spend £20,000 in a one year period with British Airways AMEX Credit Card to get companion ticket which is a change from previous year. Having had several companion tickets in the past and using them for long haul holidays, I've now just missed the required spend and have to start all over again. Without the companion ticket the card is poor as it is not accepted in enough places.

The British Airways AMEX Credit Card is a great card! I love collecting the points on the card, and I always pull out my BA Amex card and use it to pay - only some places don't accept Amex - and companion ticket is great.

I don't understand the grizzles here about it not being accepted everywhere - it's an AmEx card, and I find it's accepted anywhere any other AmEx card is. I also don't understand the whines about interest rate - do you people really pay interest on credit card borrowings? You need to sort your finances out!
Finally - the miles accumulation is great. I get a free companion ticket every year, so every year the two of us get a free trip to the USA, Japan, or similar. And we usually get upgrade ...

BA Amex card have just changed the rules on the companion ticket which means that you HAVE to use it in a YEAR or LOSE IT! Amex were allowing you too extend it past a year - but they won't now........ --------------

If you have a direct debit setup and you decide to pay off the full balance by cash or cheque, American Express will still take the full amount from your bank account by direct debit. So basically, you make a payment to them twice. Which makes no sense at all, and when you try contact them to get them to refund your money, they are not very helpful.

Apart from the air miles, the British Airways AMEX Credit Card is a rubbish card, because no one accepts it due to its high charges.

Rather than collecting points on other cards, we have made a big effort to use the Amex card whenever we buy something and it has paid off. If you don't use the British Airways AMEX Credit Card for everything. Don't bother, as you will never amass enough BA miles.

I have had a personal BA Amex for over 3 years and have used it for business expenses. Some places do not accept Amex which means I have to cary a Visa and Mastercard just in case. Some currency exchanges will only accept corporate Amex.

The interest rate is not the best in the marketplace but this is balanced by getting BA miles and if you use the card to book BA flights you gain double miles

Amex will always call you if you miss a payment which I find a great help.
