“Worst bank I've ever dealt with”

Inferior customer service, phone service is beyond a joke in comparison to other banks. No communication with the customer when it matters, i.e. prior to there being a problem that could have been resolved much sooner. Passive aggressive attitude towards the customer on calls, it's never their fault that something has gone awry. Ridiculously uncompetitive savings and current accounts. (read more)

“BOI spiteful trained monkeys ”

Wow what can I say about the blindling incompetance of BOI and its staff. They are unprofessional and when they do asmall gesture to begin to fix a problem caused by their staff they expect you to practically grovel to them. I was left stranded in Canada with no access to ny own.money all because BOI made an error that they first claimed no.knowledge of then tried to blame me . It took them a month.and a half to get a new card to me .It wasnt untill I.called the solictiors that they even... (read more)

“Worst bank I've encountered”

Clearly Bank of Ireland doesn't understand business hours, as 10am-4pm weekday hours are totally unsuitable. The banks do not even open on Saturdays, which is ridiculous. They do not have a call centre to resolve issues with - the only method is to visit or call the branch, which might be closed due to the cushy job hours! There is no area on their website to give feedback. I only used the account to pay my bills during my residency in Ireland, and I'm glad I didn't have to deal with them... (read more)

With a doubt, in my opinion, the Bank of Ireland is one of the worst banks I have ever dealt with. Their telephone banking service is so inferior, it's hard to believe. They told me today that a Direct Debit which had been presented in the morning was returned unpaid...yet when I lodged to cover the same Direct Debit later that same day, it was paid. It really does appear to me 'that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing' when it comes to Bank of Ireland's telephone... (read more)

I have my mortgage with Bank of Ireland - After my husband has had a terrible month as a self employed taxi driver with the snow i was worried sick that i could not make the full payment - i have just spoke to a lovely guy who understood my worries and could not have been nicer - Well done!!! I cannot believe how bad this bank is. Mistakes galore and an on-line banking system that would seem to have been written by a five year old it is so cumbersome. I moved a business account recently to this bank for better terms and cannot wait to move back out again even though it has cost a considerable sum to move in the first place. (read more)

Anyone opening an account in Ireland: Do NOT use Bank of Ireland.

Firstly, they spelt my name wrong on my bankcard. This wouldn't bother me, but I thought it may affect things in the future so I alerted a cashier and she said "It will have to be changed". And so, a WEEK later, I recieved my new card. Fair enough, mistakes are made, but on my next statement I read that I had been CHARGED 5 EUROS for the new card! I found this review very helpful because...It reflect the true picture of their service, I have mortgage with them for one of my house, I don't live in that house, I asked them to do simple thing loads of time which was to change corresponds address to where I live. This still has not been done after numerous requests.
