I have been trading with them for some time now, and in that time I have lost a lot of money. Reading others people's review I totally agree. The final knife in the coffin is their new bet financing costs. You NO LONGER RECEIVE any positive carry as they hovered it up with their haircut. You can no longer hold positions over the medium to long term as they will just hover all you cash up. Even trying to scalp is challenging with them as you wonder where the hell they are getting their... (read more)

Been using these guys for about 12 months, regular platform updates, which is good, much more advanced features than ig, city and capitals, was recommnded by a friend, not sure why so many reviews on here are so negative. Customisable platform, easy to use and 0.7pts on EURUSD, though you don't always get it. One piece of feedback is their platform is not for scalpers, I use MT4 with alpari or fxcm for my EA's which is perfect for couple of pips in and out with decent risk/reward. CMC is... (read more)

There are so many things I hate about CMC that I'd feel better writing what I like about them. 1) They have a nice colourful platform (CMC NextGen platform) 2) Their staff is polite - at least, more polite than other brokers' staff. Of course, they are also very condescending. I am a professional trader. I KNOW all the stuff about technical analysis, money management, position sizing, stop losses, etc. I make money when I trade via regular brokers. I opened a CMC account to hedge - eg... (read more)

CMC markets are bad news. They have forced all onto a new trading platform. The graphical package is weird. Saved charts default without warning. The system logs off by itself just when you want to bet. . There are no fractional bets on the spread bet side so some minimum exposures are £20K , other £200. Worse of all they have no arrangement for technical people to call to sort out problems. . just customer service who shrug their shoulder at techncial issues. (read more)

I'm usually pretty sceptical about reviews, but unfortunately, the ones here are accurate. I've now had three instances, where the CMC spread suddenly jumps without any correlation to the underlying markets. For me, the use of stop loss positions is vital to managing risk, but you simply can't use them with this company for fear of these sudden price jumps. (read more)

Have been trialing the new system from CMC and have a few concerns:
1) where do you get your cash commodity prices from, they are very different to exchange prices
2) why do you restrict clients to small tiket sizes, even for liquid stocks?
3) why do you not offer any futures bets?
4) where are all the smallcap and aim stocks that you used to offer

1) take futures and discount them (get rid of interest and cost of carry)
2) because there are no requotes
3) cause spot commodities allow a perpetual chart and there is no factual rollover
4) too expensive and limited hedging for broker
5) because you are used to futures - they are "hidden" in futures and it feels weird to pay finance charges for them
6) because commissions are included
7) i dont know - dont have experience with them
hope this helps

1. The daily chart data is wrong so often that CMC charts have become a fiction that JK Rowling would be proud of, especially Sundays and Fridays. On most charts at least once a week there is a massive difference [100 points frequently and 400 points sometimes] between the high on the Bid chart and the high on the Offer chart, sometimes it is the open price that is 100s points difference and sometimes the low price. It is impossible to know which chart is right. Consequently indicators... (read more)

My reasons for such harsh review:
-platform (web one) is extremely unreliable. After 15 min it slows down, prices stop updating and you can't close/open positions.
- When you place an order takes ages to get executed, and in today fast changing markets this is extremely unpleasant. Imagine buying ftse at 4002 and getting it at 3986 (happened to me)
I close a position close to end of day, market...

Yes CMC is good for Spreadbets and CFDs - just make sure you make really good use of their ordering system. Its easy to place limit buys and stop losses and you can pay a little extra on entry order if you want "guaranteed" stop losses. Just watch the units as £1 per point = 100 shares for companies. You can easily place order for tens of thousands without realising. Also you can trade the indices and sectors very easily with enormous values thanks to the minimal margin - used to be £50 for...
