I have been trading with them for some time now, and in that time I have lost a lot of money. Reading others people's review I totally agree. The final knife in the coffin is their new bet financing costs. You NO LONGER RECEIVE any positive carry as they hovered it up with their haircut. You can no longer hold positions over the medium to long term as they will just hover all you cash up. Even trying to scalp is challenging with them as you wonder where the hell they are getting their... (read more)

Been using these guys for about 12 months, regular platform updates, which is good, much more advanced features than ig, city and capitals, was recommnded by a friend, not sure why so many reviews on here are so negative. Customisable platform, easy to use and 0.7pts on EURUSD, though you don't always get it. One piece of feedback is their platform is not for scalpers, I use MT4 with alpari or fxcm for my EA's which is perfect for couple of pips in and out with decent risk/reward. CMC is... (read more)

There are so many things I hate about CMC that I'd feel better writing what I like about them. 1) They have a nice colourful platform (CMC NextGen platform) 2) Their staff is polite - at least, more polite than other brokers' staff. Of course, they are also very condescending. I am a professional trader. I KNOW all the stuff about technical analysis, money management, position sizing, stop losses, etc. I make money when I trade via regular brokers. I opened a CMC account to hedge - eg... (read more)

CMC markets are bad news. They have forced all onto a new trading platform. The graphical package is weird. Saved charts default without warning. The system logs off by itself just when you want to bet. . There are no fractional bets on the spread bet side so some minimum exposures are £20K , other £200. Worse of all they have no arrangement for technical people to call to sort out problems. . just customer service who shrug their shoulder at techncial issues. (read more)

I'm usually pretty sceptical about reviews, but unfortunately, the ones here are accurate. I've now had three instances, where the CMC spread suddenly jumps without any correlation to the underlying markets. For me, the use of stop loss positions is vital to managing risk, but you simply can't use them with this company for fear of these sudden price jumps. (read more)

What ever you do, Do not join cmc, if you want to lose your money then cmc are for you. I have been using CMC not for a few months and use there chart with other chart at the same time. I went into a trade on the spy and was looking for a small move for a scalp. so on the other chart I seen the market move in my favour and was happy as i was in the money. I went into cmc to take my profits off but it wasnt to be. the system had a 20 - 30 sec delay and funny enough i got stopped out. looking... (read more)

They have no clue any of their team , why would they work for a company if they are that good at predicting the markets , it makes no sense to me . As the other reviews state ,I have also had weird going ons that move in their favor , spikes that do not happen on the real market chart seem to happen when the money you have on is 500 + , Do not use !!!!!!!! I have never received anything when I have gone short they charge you if your short they charge you if your long. BUT their platform is one of the best. I would use their charts and trade with another provider for best value for money. In fact if you trade with CMC markets you are complete mug i would know I have traded with them for 4 years. If you are currently using the Market Maker platform they will try to trick you into changing and increase your spreads and your fee's ignore them... (read more)

Have been trialing the new system from CMC and have a few concerns:
1) where do you get your cash commodity prices from, they are very different to exchange prices
2) why do you restrict clients to small tiket sizes, even for liquid stocks?
3) why do you not offer any futures bets?
4) where are all the smallcap and aim stocks that you used to offer
5) why are your financing charges so high on commodities
6) why are your spreads so wide?
7) all stop orders seem to get slipped on the... (read more)

Just to let you know that the dealers at cmc market does manipulate the spreads and margins when the market is busy. I confront them many times and they are unable to answer my questions correctly because they are lying. The last discrepancy was an order not fill when their chart show the price was met. The dealer explanation was the chart is not always accurate. I have been trading with them for 3 years and know for a fact that the order ticket and chart price is always the same since the... Very basic platform, ideal for amateurs, whih I guess is the client type CMC are after as they tend to have the highest proportion of client losses
Their spreads are still wider than everyone elses out there, and as everyone knows the spread is the clients biggest cost. City, IG and particuarly Worldspreads are far cheaper than CMC
Have worked in the markets for 25 years and still can't work out how they price their cash commodities - Beware!!!

I have been using CMC for 5 years. Their Market Maker platform is one of the best in the Spread betting world. It has real value for money considering professional prop traders have to pay desk fees if their independent traders of around £1,500 per month.
I managed to turn £2,500 into £110,000 in six weeks - verifiable - and then hand back £90,000 in the next six days! The more winning days I had the harder it became to trade, the fills were horrific! Some times up to 1 min then you were... (read more)

Just been on the new CMC platform, looks fantastic and is really easy to get to grips with, only the charts need some work and they don't have a lot of stuff to trade. I've been told they are adding in new features soon which could make this system worth checking out. I've not seen a platform like this from the usual spread betting bucket shops, im quite impressed but only time will tell its if really something different. (read more)

I have just spent the last week playing around with the new CMC demo platform. It's a massive improvement on the old Marketmaker platform. I have traded several s/b companies over the past ten years and found CMC to be about the worse. The education is good but the spreads tend to be wider than IG, GFT and Tradefair - all of which I use. Where other companies (especially IG) have improved service CMC have stood still and even gone backwards on chart software. When it was deal4free the platform was much better than it is now. 1. The daily chart data is wrong so often that CMC charts have become a fiction that JK Rowling would be proud of, especially Sundays and Fridays. On most charts at least once a week there is a massive difference [100 points frequently and 400 points sometimes] between the high on the Bid chart and the high on the Offer chart, sometimes it is the open price that is 100s points difference and sometimes the low price. It is impossible to know which chart is right. Consequently indicators... (read more)

I have an account with CMC, my advice to you people out there: stay away from this business.
My reasons for such harsh review:
-platform (web one) is extremely unreliable. After 15 min it slows down, prices stop updating and you can't close/open positions.
- When you place an order takes ages to get executed, and in today fast changing markets this is extremely unpleasant. Imagine buying ftse at 4002 and getting it at 3986 (happened to me)
I close a position close to end of day, market... (read more)

I opened an account with CMC spread betting recently. Yesterday I thought I would give it a go. I was doing OK by shorting FTSE100 since I thought the market would go down to 3500 again soon. I didn't place a stop loss. This afternoon I was surprised to learn that my position was stopped out just before the market turned around to go down from about 4000. I've been persevering with CMC for nearly 5 years. They used to be ok, as spreadbetting companies go, but the past 12 months have been an absolute nightmare with requotes sometimes lasting up to a minute, site freezing and just general mayhem. When I place an order their system it often requotes mainly when if it seems to be in their favour and not mine. Yes CMC is good for Spreadbets and CFDs - just make sure you make really good use of their ordering system. Its easy to place limit buys and stop losses and you can pay a little extra on entry order if you want "guaranteed" stop losses. Just watch the units as £1 per point = 100 shares for companies. You can easily place order for tens of thousands without realising. Also you can trade the indices and sectors very easily with enormous values thanks to the minimal margin - used to be £50 for...
