We have a 92 Isuzu trooper s with 215k miles on it. We just purchased the troop in New Jersey and imported it to Canada and it passed our Toronto emissions test at the lower end of the scale with only a change of spark plugs and new muffler and tailpipe which I believe were original [actually no tailpipe was there]. We do have valve train noise and I'm trying to find a non invasive option for that. I installed new aftermarket pads and rotors all around. I want to do new seals on the calipers. Rear calipers did not work well. Pins that run in blind holes seize and are hard to take apart, fronts were ok. As far as I know alt's motor, rad are original. I think trans is getting tired [5 speed]. It's due for a throwout bearing, clutch ok [clutch was done at 70k miles]. I do have wind up in the drivetrain which i'm trying to isolate. I'm actually surprised that the 4 wheel drive works but I do feel extra vibration when 4 wheel drive is in. Any info on finding good technical advice would be appreciated. I'd really like to find a mechanic or mechanically minded person who works on troopers and would be willing to share information. So if troopers are expensive the older ones do last Interior is very good bodywork is still there and a fairly thick layer of paint seems to be there. Fuel economy does seem to be less than spectacular. I can't yet rate the vehicle until I've had it for a while.
