Good Points: handling, refinement, quite quick

Bad Points: might be squashed if you are tall
    rear seats small for adults
    rust?

General comments: the Rover Metro 1.4 is more fun than a mk4 golf gti seriously

I drove around london and back in the golf it did its job but no fun
Drove the metro the last 4 miles home, and I came alive and so did the metro :-)
Mine was a 5dr gta 8v with 5 spoke alloys
fun round corners, lacks grip in wet but its fun to slide (controllable)
when it came out in 1990 it was similar to ax , 205, in road tests a bit less spacious but more refined
i dont think any car impoved on its handling in its lifetime 1990-1997 unless 106 ??
    ride smooth
    rear seats small (for adults)
boot is deep can fit a bike in if take a wheel off

Cheap insurance group 5, quite quick, ok at 70mph on motorway

only sold it as i needed a bigger car
my mileage was from 30000 to 60000
i bought iwhen it was 5 years old
not much went wrong in the 7 years i had it from 1999 to 2006
suspension pump up £30, heater motor £20, water temp gauge £20 (caused engine to idle at 2000rpm)
new handbrake cable and adjuster £100
and new rear suspension arm ( my fault I never greased them ) £100 thats all.
It had rusty rear wheel arches but not serious (buy one thats been kept in a garage)
bought it for £3000 sold for £300
only red car ever ? not to fade ?? Paint was laquered
    future classic

I have had a 1.4 1990 Rover Metro family car since I passed my test a year ago and its great. I can burn off all my mates (ha) and it handles well although it lacks grip in the wet. Lovely car, better than a saxo etc

I had a K reg Rover Metro for a while. Lots of money spent on repairs. Dont bother repairing if you have one because as soon as that starts, everything needs replacing. It would be cheaper in the long run to get a new one.

I've run this 1.4 auto Rover Metro for a year, and it has been the most reliable car in engine terms that I have owned. I was warned off the Rover CVT 'box, but after a change of valve (caused by a blocked exhaust) the car's performance has been exceptioal for its age and engine size, CVT gives plenty of 'overtaking' power, and is handy for doing the 'Nova Boyz' off the lights!

Rot is a major enemy, car can go just about anywhere, have had trouble with front footwells and rear wheel arches, ...
