One of the last MG TF's made in the UK before production stopped. This car has been 100% reliable and provided many moments of leisurely fun and even some excitement. I'm also a motorcyclist so finding a car that puts a grin on my face is a bonus. So far I'm getting really good fuel consumption with mixed motoring and have used no oil or water - the timing belt's just been done as a precaution. Bad points? Well, it's a two seater with a small-ish boot, that said I will be off to on holiday in… Read Full Review

Had it a week and had to spend £400 on new hubs, brakes and thermostat housing. Looks good on the drive when its not in the gargae but noisy when driving, thirsty and uncomfortable to sit in on journeys of more than 30 minutes.
Perhaps I'm not being totally fair as sold a Freelander to buy this and have been used to a comfortable drive and taking for granted that you will reach your given destination.
In saying this hubby loves it and will tell you its fun to drive ( I couldnt agree less)… Read Full Review

The only people who like MG TF's are mehanics, they'd never own one but rub their hands together as they see you being towed onto theire forcourt!
Reliablity: say a prayer every morning before you turn the key and maybe half way through your journey just to be on the safe side, and don't forget to thank the lord IF you arrive at your dstination. I was warned about the head gasket so wasn't suprised when that blew, but then then the exhaust, brakes, electrics... on and on....
The only reason… Read Full Review

The 2005 car illustrated is mine. With the improved head gasket, low water level warning and glass rear window it answers several complaints above. The car has been totally reliable over 42K with only a worry over the fragile trim. Spend the 50p on the sunvisor flaps and all would be well.

Although I have scored this car (MG TF 135 2002) low above, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, I would however caveat that there are a number of things you should be aware of:
1)Head gasket WILL blow at some point, mine went at 35k miles and I was lucky, make sure you keep a regular check on your oil & water.
2)The rear plastic window will get scratched and go milky after the years, making visibility poor, keep the window unzipped when you do have the roof down.
3)Any engine problems… Read Full Review

I was attracted to the MG TF 135 Sprint after test driving what I consider to be its oppositions (MX5 & Z3). The price was similar to the particular cars I was looking at. The TF took pole position in all aspects, and I forked over my hard earned cash for a year old car that had done less than 6000 miles.
With my work I drive all over Scotland to very remote coastal places, in good weather and very bad weather, and I have had no problems with the car what-so-ever. The only money I've spent… Read Full Review

MG TF - I bought a new '05 TF 135 in April, exactly one week before MGR went bust. I actually consider myself lucky that I got one of the last TFs made, as this has been my dream car for ages. The new '05 model year has a hugely improved suspension with a glass rear window and lots of extras as standard. It looks beautiful, and with the Grenadine and Alacantara interior it looks as stylish on the inside as it does on the outside. The optional (and good-value) chrome pack also complements the… Read Full Review

Ive had my MG TF for 2 months and I love it. However as with all MG's there seems to be the general consensus on the build quality. As Clarkson put it"if they had just spent that extra 50p"..I think you get the idea.
But saying that it does exactly what I wanted in a car and you do get the looks from people as thought you were driving a Lambo or a Porsche.
Wouldnt change it except for another… Read Full Review
