Good Points: Free Small download Very fast Does the things it says No silly extras
Bad Points: None I am aware of
General comments: I was really surprised to find no reviews of Irfanview. It is one of the most popular pieces of software going. It is a basic no-nonsense application that does picture handling and enhancement of the images from your scanner, digital camera or other source. It handles every kind of image you can think of and is also an mp3 player.
Irfanview will do a lot of really useful things and I can only give a few examples here.
For example, it will do batch jobs on pictures. Suppose you have twenty high resolution shots of the children and you want to send them by email to cousin Ken in Australia. The high res shots will make big slow uploads and downloads. So you use the batch resizing tool in Irfanview to make them all 640x480 and nice small files.
Perhaps you want to quickly crop the extra bits out of your pics? Irfanview does it in less than a moment.
Irfanview will make a panorama with two or more pics side by side which is really useful if you want to list something on eBay and like to be mean with the listing fees. It will enhance the colours and adjust the brightness, colour balance, contrast and azimuth.
All in all Irfanview is great. You download the two parts from Irfanview.com then install the program and the plugins and off you go!
This is truly a great item of software!
