I took out a car in Tenerife south airport. Literally 10 minutes later on the motorway, the tyre blew out ON THE SIDE WALL without me hitting anything. I was with my 2 children in the car I was able to pull over and out my hazard light on despite there being no hard shoulder. I called AutoReisen and told them the situation. They advised ME to change the tyre in myself and take the car to the other airport to get the car replaced. I did so and then I was told I had to pay €90 for a new tyre. The tyre was quite clearly old and blew out on the side wall. As all I did was leave the airport, it makes it impossible that I scrapped or damaged it on a kerb etc. AutoReisen are not the company they used to be before Covid. They used to be good.

I hired a Citroen C3 from AutoReisen for a week’s holiday on Fuerteventura at a cost of €159.92. Nobody at the collection desk remembered to tell me that the car they’d assigned me wasn’t the model I’d ordered but an ancient jalopy covered in dents, scratches and scuffs with 123,000 on the clock. I can’t say for sure whether it would’ve passed a British MOT but there was quite a lot of ‘play’ in the steering and because the gearbox was shot to pieces, it was difficult to engage any gear with confidence. Fortunately, the traffic was light and the country very open, so I could anticipate well in advance the need to use the spongy brakes. After I’d got used to the car’s idiosyncrasies, the journey to El Cotillo was accomplished without incident. For the next two days I explored the village and the coastal paths near El Cotillo and didn’t try to use the old banger. On my third full day on the island, I filled up with petrol (€58) intending to spend the remaining four days of my holiday exploring the island. On the way back from Corralejo that afternoon, the car developed a fault and I was unable to use it again, although it did make it back to the AutoReisen compound at El Matorral airport with a tank of petrol 7/8ths full. The staff at the Auto Reisen airport desk didn’t think that I deserved a refund and weren’t inclined to be apologetic or even sympathetic. On my return to England, I tried to persuade AutoReisen to make a partial refund to cover the days when I was unable to use their car and for the petrol I bought them. They wouldn’t budge and there doesn’t seem to be any consumer rights or fair-trading organisation to which you can appeal when you’ve been on the receiving end of this kind of treatment - they know they can get away with it. All I can do is warn others against using them.

I rented a Citroen C3 from July 19 to August 2 2021 in Tenerife. The brake pads were worn out, I could hear the typical sound of it. I could not return or call them that very evening, I was in a hurry, but I tried to call them the next two days - nobody answered their phone or read the messages. After 10 days the brakes finally broke completely, fortunately without consequences, as I was very prudent. When I finally succeeded reaching AutoReisen they sent, indeed, a replacement car. Just a couple of hour wasted, but imagine what could happen on the slopes of that island! I tried to just post a review to this effect on their website, with all the data for identification (full name, contract number etc.). After 24 hours, it does not show up there - they prefer, of course, the best reviews. AutoReisen, never again.

Picking up a 7 seater car at the airport to be told there is no car, apparently broken down.. real truth is they sold it too cheap and realised and gave the car to someone else. Go to Fuerteventura 6 times a year, won’t be using autoreisen again. Disgusting, not even a sorry.

I used this company last month. I left my mobile phone in the car when I returned it at the airport. I realised 1 hour 15 mins later what I had done and returned to their desk to get it. They said the car had gone and didn't know where it was. I had to get my plane back to the UK, when I arrived in the UK I emailed them a number of times and rang them, they were not helpful at all and kept repeating that I shouldn't have left anything in the car when I returned it. This is correct and it was my mistake but I can only conclude they stole it from me. Will never use them again.

Have always used Autoreisen at Arrecife Airport and no problems whatsoever. Once they didn't understand that as a 70 year old I had a new plastic licence which said "Provisional" as all such say when your teeth fall out. Stood my ground and showed my paper licence which did the trick. Good thing is that the car is completely insured with no rip off after sales features so if it has a scratch to start with and a dent when you return it there is no extra charge.

After waiting 1.5 hrs at Fueterventura airport in line to collect car after reserving we were confronted by card put in front of us stating windscreen and wing mirror not included in car insurance. We were aware tyres fines keys etc were not included , but never before have we been confronted by this! We are regulars customers with autoreisen and frankly very disappointed with this company now. Emailed the company following morning to raise the complaint and did not have the curtesy to reply. We paid the additional insurances( which should have been in the small print) for windscreen and wind mirror cover to ensure trouble free holiday but will choose another company next time without the very long wait to collect.

Tenerife Airport South - Go with Cicar for a couple of euro more. Was so called 'upgraded' to an absolute bin of a 1.6 petrol picasso that should have been resigned to the skip years ago. The steering wheel rubber came apart and stuck to my hands every time I drove it it was so worn. There was no power to the car and selecting gear was like stirring treacle. I had read about this so called upgrade to a picasso before on these forums before and should have been prepared to argue however when just gotten off a flight with young kids from the UK you are arguably tired. I should have returned it but honestly could not be bothered driving back to the airport. Never again will I rent from auto reisen. There's no need for renting this rubbish in 2016. HArps back to the bad old days of being ripped off. Garbage!!

I wanted to explore Tennerife on holiday so I paid for a category F car which should have had a decent size engine. I picked up a car at the airport and was told I had been given a free upgrade to a category G car which was a Citroen Picasso which I was of course pleased about. I was given a car key without a "fob", unusual nowadays, but I was not too concerned and so I went to collect the car. It was blatantly obvious that it was an old car and when I examined the car I was worried by the amount of scratches and especially the rip in the rear seat, so I stopped at the "drop off" office to report such problems and they could not have been more disinterested. I struggled right from the start with changing gear as the gear shift was so loose and sloppy. There was a constant smell of the engine, the window wipers barely touched the windscreen and were useless, the steering lock was dreadful and the engine was so "gutless" that on the slightest incline I had to drop down a gear to get it to climb the hill. IT WAS RUBBISH and I had deliberately paid for a good grade car in the first place. NEVER AGAIN will I use Autoreisen as the added insult to injury is that they were not actually the cheapest choice in the first place. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH and if I could mark it as a minus I would.

I would never rent a car with this company. When your car breaks down and you miss your flight because of this problem, they are not willing to help you (although they say they will) . They don't have a phone number that is reachable 24/7, at all. So between 11pm and 7am you are on your own. The women at the service desk of top-car autoreisen told us to book another flight (of 1052 euro for 2 persons) and just send an email to their adress and the money would be refunded on my account. (So not all the employees know their own company rules) This never happened i had to call them multiple times and just 15 days later i could reach somebody in charge. And his excuse was, you should have taken a taxi (which is not allowed on their contract terms). They offered me a ridiculous 30 euro's to solve the problem. So if you would like to have a descent rental company without problems, don't use top-car autoreisen!

After reading several positive reviews of AutoReisen, I was shocked by the worn and damaged state of tyres of the first car hire we picked up at Las Palmas Airport. We had to spent the first morning of our holiday driving to the AutoReisen office to pick up another car. Guess what, it also had worn and damaged tyres. I can't believe that tyres like this is are legal in Spain. We certainly didn't feel safe driving on tyres like that. I was unhappy that although I requested to pay in the Euro, this request was ignored and I was charged in UK pounds. As my credit card has no overseas transactions fees I am better off paying in Euro. I also thought that the Toyota Yaris we were given was a smaller car than an equivalent to a Citreon C3

As timeshare user we visit Tenerife every year for last 6 years. Up until this year we had been very happy with the quality and age of the car from Autoreisen TFS - However, this year we ended up with a 130,000Km Seat Ibiza that was appalling. I complained about this to the Admin people but was told this was all they had despite the fact that there was at least 60+ cars sat outside. No upgrade or anything offered despite being a returning customer. This car developed a fault so had to take it back only to get another Seat Ibiza with 138,000Km on the clock. It smelt of damp. I don't drive cars with these miles on at home why should I have to pay for substandard from a rental company. Will not use Autoreisen again as my assumption is that the low mileage better quality cars go to Europeans who a used to driving on the right hand side - not taking into account I lived in Germany and USA and I'm quite capable of driving on their side of the road. My recommendation if you want on airport parking is go to either Avis or Cigar as they had never cars - Sorry Autoreisen - you have lost my business and I hope you improve your service otherwise you should lose more.

We are at the loss of 200€ cash taken by Top CAR AutoReisin Fuerteventura, who have never returned the money. We had a phone call from them practically calling us liars and shouting their way on the phone. Their customer service is appalling.

On receiving car from Top Car Autoreisin in Fuerteventura Airport,Canary Island,we were asked for a cash 200eu deposit as we were waiving our excess insurance rights to damage such as Flat tyres, damage to rims ,filling up with wrong fuel, damage to underneath of car car and wing mirrors,if I were to purchase this it would cost qpprox. 50eu extra on top of the rental payment, which I felt was a rip off,so I declined. We paid the 200eu. cash deposit to the female representative, who also had our Visa credit Card details. When we got home after 2 weeks I checked my Visa card and saw that I was also charged 200 eu on my Visa card for the same excess waiver. The 200eu taken out of our Visa card was returned, the cash so far has not.

Just returned from a holiday in Tenerife, where we had the missfortune to use Autoreisen for our car hire. We were expecting a Citroen C2, but on arrival were given an old model Ford Fiesta. Externally it looked clean from a distance, but had numerous dents and knocks. The internals looked worn and had ground in dirt. Our journey to our resort was interesting, in that there was a consistent rumble from the wheels at all speeds and the smell of hot engine oil and gasoline in the cabin. I then checked the mileage and found it had 144500 KM on the clock. On returning the vehicle and complaining, I was advised that they do not know why the boss keeps this vehicle in his fleet. I have to say that I would not consider purchasing a car with those number of kilometers on the clock so why on earth would someone have it as part of their rental fleet. perhaps just to rip you off!!!!!!!

My wife and I have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Tenerife. We ordered an economy car with air conditioning, our experience was as follows: Car 1 - Seat Ibiza - Air con inadequate. Only blowing warm air. Car 2 - Another Seat Ibiza - Air con only working on top setting and again only blowing hot air. Went to put our first supermarket shop in the boot, sadly unable to as boot was full of rubbish and filthy - back to Autoreisen Car 3 - Citroen Picasso - Air con working - hooray ! Fine for running around in locally, but on our first major excursion it became obvious that the crunching brakes needed attention - back to Autoreisen. Car 4 - God no, another Seat Ibiza - Thankfully this time air con was fine and no other problems. WHY DID IT TAKE 4 TIME CONSUMING, VERY INCONVENIENT VISITS TO AUTOREISEN TO FINALLY OBTAIN AN ACCEPTABLE VEHICLE. Not one word of apology from any staff member!!! In our opinion this was a second rate experience and one we have no wish to repeat, will go else where in future.

I hired a car from TOPCAR Auto Reisen, for 3 weeks in Aug/Sept 2011. .I returned it cleaned out , all but some sand from the towels. For this I was charged £60 which was taken from my account without permission. I was informed that it was supposed to have been removed from my £200 deposit that they have newly started to take from your account on collection of the car. (A new rule I was informed). However they took the 200 plus the 60. I have now sent them 7 emails and they have not returned either my deposit or the £60.I rang them and they advised that I check with my bank which I had done daily.THere customer service is extremely poor and trying-to find a person to deal with is impossible. When I previously hired a car from them it was dirty , wet , and the y advised me that the tank was full , in actual fact it was 1/2 empty. but had i returned it in the same way they would have chrged , but again , nobody wanted to listen or assist to this Beware of this company.!!! You may find that if you require assistance to resolve any issue that you will be talking to a brick wall...

I hired a car at Lanzarote Airport for 9 days and during the period, it so happened that on one of the island roads, I hit one piece of steel that was on the road. On handling the car back to the company, I informed the man at reception of the accident and that one of the wheels was damaged. I was told that this was due to abuse from myself !!! I could not believe it and the man started insulting me. I was then charged for the cost of the wheel to my credit card, without my permission. I was VERY disappointed by the attitude of this company. Clause 13 of their contract says that "the insurance does not cover the partial or total rupture of rims and tyres, due to abuse". This was an accident and I´m still fighting with the company to get my money back.

I have hired a car from Autoreisen for over 10 years and have recommended them to all my friends who have taken up the offer, I have never had reason to complain before, the quality and price could not be beaten UNTIL this year 70,000K on the clock The car was old, damaged with filthy interior and stained seats, when I complained they were unable to offer a similar car and was told if I waited they would clean the car again, the stains and state of the car would not improve on cleaning, and declined. I have tried to contact them by returning my booking form with my comments but after 3 weeks have not received a reply I have tried numerious ways of contacting them direct, but have been unsuccessful. I would prefer Autoreisen, but maybe next year will consider alternative car hire companies, VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THEM THIS YEAR

staff were rude at the airport and unhelpful. The car was filthy, old, rattly and mechanically unfit. We complained at the desk but no one took any notice. We were prepared to upgrade the car, that is paying more but were told that is what we get.
Our holiday was fantastic but the car ruined it. My family were very disappointed as we have never had such a terrible hired car before.
I would not recommend autoreisen and will never use tham again.

I had same experience in Dec 21 to start of Jan 22... Awful cars, awful customer service and they filter reviews on their website.
