    Good Points: Fantastic picture and audio! I have owned the Yamaha DVD-S796 for just about 1 year and love it. Never had any problems with scratched disks, skipping, pixelization, etc. Remote is very easy to navigate (even in the dark) once you have spent a few minutes with it. I have all Yamaha components in my Home Theater and this fits perfectly with everything else I own.


    Bad Points: Price was a little much. I paid close to $500 (excluding cables). However, it does everything I want it to do, so I can't complain too much. Oh, and if listening to burned disks are important to you, this one doesn't do it.


    General comments: The Yamaha DVD-S796 is a great DVD player! Rock solid on audio and video. If you want a machine to play burned disks, mp3's, etc. then look elsewhere. If you want to watch movies theater style, then this yamaha is for you.

    The Yamaha DVD S796 should have some more features (such as 5.1 decoding on-board) to be the perfect DVD player.
