Reliable car, but once she let me down. Therefore, I shoot one ball, a week I repaired the rear axle. The SUV has a good cross, large capacity, good handling. Now I drive a different car.

“Low on power ”

★★★☆☆

written by Craig469 on 11/04/2016

Truck will drive ok for a week , then have moments of loss of power , bad enough to pull over out the way off other road users. Switch the truck off ,then start it back up again seems to reboot it , three or four times a day sometimes ,

“D22 2013 Rust problems”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Munrotv452 on 20/08/2014

My new Navara D22 with 11500kms on the clock is have rust issues. After searching numerous sources, have found 5 other owners of the same model/year ute with rust in the same place. Since found surface rust on top of rear passengers door, spots all over the rear tray (when I brought it i put a tonneau cover on it straight away). Going to the dealer today, if no luck there, then off to Nissan Australia and if no luck there fair trade. To much of a coincidence with all these owners I have communicated with to be a one off.

G'day,
I purchased my D22 STR brand new in 2012. I'm having big dramas with rust issues. Already been fixed once ( cost nissan $7500.00 ) I'm still trying to get my money back as the rust has come back.
If anyone has the same problems ring me.

“Very good and reliable little truck.”

★★★★☆

written by on 16/07/2014

We bought it new at 2004.It`s a d22 petrol 2,4 litters. We own it for 10 years now and we have no thought of changing it.It has been loaded nummerous times for work ( alot of them even 2 tons of load) and it never gave us any problem.Good offroad capability (we use it a lot in visiting tv antennas and wind genarators , in remote mountain locations)and most of the time loaded. After 10 years and 128.000 km the only thing we changed is the cluch. We do all services in time in our own establishment (better than 90% of shops out there) and we never a problem with it.The reason i gave it 4 stars is mostly is because it is a fuell hungry(petrol , compared to other brand petrol vehicles of the same time) and when you have turned the wheel at its end and go over a bump or something a big sqeek sound is made.I`ve changed the finish bolt(that is what fails and makes the sound) twice but it just keeps curving downwards. All and all very higly recomended.

“54 d22 navara engine failure”

★☆☆☆☆

written by vickies202 on 28/12/2013

my d22 was never used as a works vehicle, old gent up to 74k and family car with me for 3yrs taken it to 90k, well looked after and serviced loads. made a light rattle on and off a week before failing, barely audible, took it back to garage (right after service) and told its normal... bs! next call to garage was for recovery. faulty rod bearings and when they go they can be dangerous if they shoot through the side of the engine block. nissan claimed its not under recall though i quoted the recall letter in my hand and didn't notify everyone of the flaw either. replacement engines of the same model or refurbs from nissan are useless as it too has horrible tendancy to blow as soon as 15k miles, only way to fix it is with private engine recon companies who are used to fixing the fault at a cost of average 1700, well less than half the nissan quote. brilliant car except too light on the back, fishes in snow and bounces everywhere with a trailer on and won't pull much without a slip of the clutch... although it was lovely to drive normally i will never ever buy nissan again, just not reliable enough to be worth it, though i understand newer models have fixed the fault.

“Diesel Fuel System Failure”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 15/05/2013

I bought a brand new unit in 2008. After clocking a little more than 100K kilometers the car often went into limp mode. Dealer said that it needs about US2+++ to fix it i.e. replacing the diesel pump, railing, injectors.....etc. The car looks great but very poor after sales support. I'm very surprised that despite so many complains especially about the vehicle "lost of power" posted in the internet...the people in nissan failed to successfully fix the problems. Also vibration is a major issue. Mine never got fixed. I have to learn to live with it. Who ever plans to buy this car, please type "Nissan Navara Engine Problem"...or what ever problem you need to know in the google search engine.... and read the postings. Then you can make your decision.

“No good in the snow”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Chinovo on 23/01/2013

When I bought my Navara I was never told about the 40 km/hour limit when in 4x4. Yet you canot turn corners so what good is that! My 2.5l with full options has scared me a few times in light snow conditions but finally after an accident free life (now 42) it finally spun in heavy snow. I have owned many 4x4's and this one should be checked out for a default. It is dangerous and something should be done!

“Never buy a D40 Diesel”

★☆☆☆☆

written by samcor on 13/01/2013

I have a 2009 Nissan navara ST-X D40... and to date the following has occurred. Replaced complete fuel system from the tank to the injectors, every component - 10k. Then no oil pressure - bent shaft in oil pump 8k followed by turbo charger 6.5k and now just to top it all off i have a broken crankshaft estimated cost 25k. This would have to be the most unreliable vehicle i have ever owned couple the costs mentioned above with the expence of relacement vehicles and you will start to understand my frustration with this vehicle.

“Steering Wheel Rattles when driving over bumps!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 24/12/2012

When ever going over a metal drive way or paddock the steering column rattles (goes clonk clonk clonk) I spoke with Nissan Whangarei and they told me all the navaras do it. Nonsense! Also dash had to come out due to speedometer rattle amongst other things.

“Don't buy manual version if you plan to tow anything!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Compweigh on 21/12/2012

Purchased a manual Navara D40 king cab as work vehicle to tow trailer weighing 2500Kg. BIG MISTAKE. Vehicle is way too highly geared for towing anything beyond a half empty box trailer! Need to slip the clutch whenever taking off, and have no hope of taking off on a hill with the loaded trailer. When I have taken vehicle back to dealer with trailer, Nissan mechanic told me to put in 4x4 if stopped on a hill. Waiting to see how long clutch does last. Vehicle is rated to 3 tonnes but I wouldn't like to be the one attempting to tow this, nor would Nissan want to know you when your clutch quits.
