“54 d22 navara engine failure”

Written on: 28/12/2013 by vickies202 (1 review written)

my d22 was never used as a works vehicle, old gent up to 74k and family car with me for 3yrs taken it to 90k, well looked after and serviced loads. made a light rattle on and off a week before failing, barely audible, took it back to garage (right after service) and told its normal... bs! next call to garage was for recovery. faulty rod bearings and when they go they can be dangerous if they shoot through the side of the engine block. nissan claimed its not under recall though i quoted the… Read Full Review

“Diesel Fuel System Failure”

Written on: 15/05/2013

I bought a brand new unit in 2008. After clocking a little more than 100K kilometers the car often went into limp mode. Dealer said that it needs about US2+++ to fix it i.e. replacing the diesel pump, railing, injectors.....etc. The car looks great but very poor after sales support. I'm very surprised that despite so many complains especially about the vehicle "lost of power" posted in the internet...the people in nissan failed to successfully fix the problems. Also vibration is a major… Read Full Review

Written on: 23/01/2013 by Chinovo (1 review written)

When I bought my Navara I was never told about the 40 km/hour limit when in 4x4. Yet you canot turn corners so what good is that! My 2.5l with full options has scared me a few times in light snow conditions but finally after an accident free life (now 42) it finally spun in heavy snow. I have owned many 4x4's and this one should be checked out for a default. It is dangerous and something should be done!… Read Full Review

“Never buy a D40 Diesel”

I have a 2009 Nissan navara ST-X D40... and to date the following has occurred. Replaced complete fuel system from the tank to the injectors, every component - 10k. Then no oil pressure - bent shaft in oil pump 8k followed by turbo charger 6.5k and now just to top it all off i have a broken crankshaft estimated cost 25k. This would have to be the most unreliable vehicle i have ever owned couple the costs mentioned above with the expence of relacement vehicles and you will start to understand my… Read Full Review

“Don't buy manual version if you plan to tow anything!”

Written on: 21/12/2012 by Compweigh (1 review written)

Purchased a manual Navara D40 king cab as work vehicle to tow trailer weighing 2500Kg. BIG MISTAKE. Vehicle is way too highly geared for towing anything beyond a half empty box trailer! Need to slip the clutch whenever taking off, and have no hope of taking off on a hill with the loaded trailer. When I have taken vehicle back to dealer with trailer, Nissan mechanic told me to put in 4x4 if stopped on a hill. Waiting to see how long clutch does last. Just had to replace my dual mass flywheel and clutch at 65,ooo KM. The dual mass flywheel is not fit for purpose, to the extent that here in Ireland, Nissan dealers recommend a single mass conversation and won't fit the dual mass. They do want €1500 for it though...

Can buy OEM for around €500 + Fitting. Slight increase in vibration at tick over, but at least I wont have to fork out €7-800 to replace it with another dual mass in another 60,000 km.....

“Fantastic Vehicles”

We bought our first Navara in 2005, it was a 2002 model, brilliant vehicle, any terrain, any weather our "beast" could cope with it, never a minute's problem with it, until some hooligan stole it and wrote it off!!!! After receiving the insurance money, we bought another Navara, this time 2004, now I think it is a D22 (still trying to find out the difference between a D22 and D40, nothing on the website actually gives you the difference in one sentence)this also has been an excellent vehicle… Read Full Review

beware! my 54 plate d22 was running great till 90k miles under use as a family car, running great with 3mth servicing and all of a sudden the engine fails... there is a recall on all these for faulty rod-bearings turning the engine to scrap metal, just lost a fortune and nissan argued it wasn't under recall though i was staring at the darn letter! they didn't bother to notify everyone either, get shot of d22 or get a newer one, only some models affected but these always go at some point!

Clutches, divided mass flywheel, rear halfshafts, replacement wheels all done under warranty on a vehicle that is now just 3 years old and has done 60,000 miles. Stopped by VOSa with just 320 kilos in the buck, a Nissan spec toolbox with my usual small tools,a decent jack and with 3 up and we were overweight on the rear axle by 60 kg. Towing power is ok but cursed by the 4 wheel selection system that just does not want to drop out of low ratio despite numerous visits to the dealership. Comfy… Read Full Review

Western Australia requires a 4WD to cope with sand. This is not a good set up. Gutless in soft sand should come with a shovel. poor cheap interior finish. Brake rotors failed at 80,000Km. When cold a noticable delay to engage torque converter. Constant wheel alignments required. Will not release from low four wheel drive. I use it constantly as a 4WD. Electric windows stopped working. Bluetooth stopped working. front drive boots perished. Window wiper rubbers good for 3 months then harden up… Read Full Review

I have owned a nissan navara 2005 model D22 ZD30TDD for the last 2/12+ years which had 42000km/s on it and i gotta say i am happy with it. I did find it a bit underpowered for highway use until i fitted a 3" mandrel bent exhaust and wow what a difference. The vehicle has never give me any grief except for wheel alignment as it keeps chewing out tires, but if you keep on top of wheel alignments everything is good. “Top of the range Nissan Navara Tekna is Rubbish”

Written on: 18/09/2011 by nickhart121174 (1 review written)

Lets start with the good stuff. The Navara Tekna flies, it is a superb motorway vehicle. But I did not purchase a Navara for performance or long drives. Instead I wanted something practical and there is no doubt that these trucks are spacious. So if you want lots of room and over 180 bhp in a truck then the Tekna ticks the boxes. The Tekna however is top of the range so for that no doubt you would expect chrome that does not rust? The chrome rusts. Leather that does not peel? My leather… Read Full Review

Yes agree 100%. have always beleived Nissan to be cheap but reliable and good value for money. NOT any more...cheap and nasty would be more accurate. Poor support from Nissan main dealer. Vehicle is not cheap if you end up spending loads more money to keep the rubbish vehicle on the road. Would not even recommend to my worst enemy to buy one....next vehicle will spend a little bit more to begin with and get a reliable motor and hopefully better main dealer support.

Have just seen your post from last year. Nissan is 2004 Deisel, not been flogged and serviced every 9,000 miles. The problem stems from design fault where the oil strainer pickup is poorly fixed to the block and relies on an O ring which often fails around the 70,000 miles mark. Have had engine re-built with an adaption from engine re-builder which sleeves the O ring and holds it in position. Poor design on Nissan's behalf which has cost me a lot of money. No help from main dealer because warranty expired before engine failed. Certainly will never buy another Nissan.....pile of excrement

Hi Unfortunately would not agree with you. We have a new Navara STX Dual Cab (brought Oct 2010) and at purchase replaced the style side tray with a drop side (dealer organised) upon driving away with the vehicle our first trip was camping whilst towing boat. The Suspension on the vehicle could not handle the tow & load under 500kg and proceeded to bottom out on every driveway and speed bump however Nissan's response was 'sorry' can't help...maybe you should replace the suspension!!! You've got to be kiddin' me. If the vehicle is advertised as a 'tradesman's' ute then it should be able to handle a 'tradesmans' load!!!!!!! And to top it all off...the leather on the steering wheel is now falling apart!!! Would strongly advise against buying this vehicle!

Would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. Nissan GB told me not to worry the clutch, flywheel warranty had been… Read Full Review

Written on: 19/12/2010

I would not recomend the Nissan navarra to anyone because they have a serious clutch problem, I have had three clutches and I have only done 96000klms, there was a mod from Nissan in 2007 but I dont know what it was, however I have not found a good Nissan dealership there after sales service is rubish, they dont tighten things up, they have left off the engine gaurds from underneath and all the time blame me for problems, Do Not Buy a NISSAN.

Hi, I also have a 04 Rally Raid and have had the same con rod problem, I paid SMK Nissan Specialists in Bradford to fit a reconditioned short motor and head at a cost of £2400 inc VAT, I have since done 4600 miles and am getting worried as it has started sounding noisy in the mornings again, just like it did before it blew up the last time. I will be giving SMK a call soon to discuss what the cause might be.

Paid 11k for a Fab Black aventura 06 plate with only 28k on clock. Looks absolutely Fantastic but looks can be deceiving. Had for 15 months and have paid out 2k so far on new clutch and flywheel. Just took for service and told there is a major problem. Making a knocking noise and miss firing. Told will need engine rebuild. These pickups look fantastic but are very unreliable. Shame on Nissan for ignoring these problems and making hard working people pay out thousands to put them right… Read Full Review

Navara D40, What a complete pile of cr*p. Paid 14000 pounds for it with only 30,000 miles on it, thought i'd got a real bargain after my Navara d22 was so good. I was very wrong, 2500 on a clutch and flywheel upgrade, 250 on an ABS sensor because nissan put them in a stupid place, 550 on sensors for the gear box, 1800 on prop shaft problems, and thats the end of the line, ive just got rid of it! DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE CARS!! It'll off road quite well but if you drive through long grass at more… Read Full Review

good workhorse been good up to last week when conrod came out of the side of the block.this pickup was serviced on the dot.my advise is if you have one get rid of it.if looking to buy one please beware i am looking at a repair bill £3300.00 +vat .that is using nissan parts but a independent garage.also nissan worcester inspected the pickup and striped the down only to tell me it would not be eligable for a new engine because it was older than 5years and was a import.they were aware of both… Read Full Review

Written on: 26/10/2010

I bought a new 2010 Navara Tekna Satnav 6 months ago at £26000 inc VAT, after having owned two Navaras in the past that I have been very pleased with, I thought I'd push the boat out and get the top of the range...MISTAKE...It has absolutely no power below 1500 revs, then when the turbo finally spins up you're off like a "bat out of hell". It cuts out on the over run and continues to rev up when changing gear. Passenger window closes at a snails pace, SatNav screen rattles - gave the dash a… Read Full Review

This is a Navara D40 and was bought from new for commercial use.Nice to drive , fast and seemingly powerfull machine but reliability is a joke.Never use it to tow heavy loads as the engine/gearbox/clutch combination are mismatched and you will need a new clutch in no time.Rear wheel bearing failure requires a complete half shaft at £600! my vehicle history = 35k two new rear wheelbearings/ 44k new clutch/65k new rear wheelbearings/ 75k new turbo/ 85k new turbo..when i mentioned to the dealer i… Read Full Review

This is hard reveiw to write, my Nissan Navara D22 has been a great work vechile and perfect day to day car. The reliability has been great. I heard on watchdog the d22 has a fault were the engine dies while doing motorway driving. This has happened to me, at 83,000 miles on the clock after being serviced every 10k miles. The cam rod went in to the block and stopped the engine forever. I took it to my local garage where they said that it was a 'common' fault in the d22 where a copper cover… Read Full Review
