Good Points: Robust vocals No-nonsense song writing Effective lyrics
General comments: Canadian artist Tim Bertulli (http://www.timbertulli.com) doesn't produce country music for wimps. "Movin' On" will probably be tagged as "Americana", simply because it doesn't condescend to the artificial polish of Nashville. Then again, there's just as much classic rock in Bertulli's sound than country. The bluesy kick in "Break It Down" is enough to make any roots poseur give up their cow chips.
"Movin On'" brings back the storyteller tradition in country music. Bertulli wrote the lyrics himself; there's no group of faceless song writers hiding in the background pulling the puppet strings.
The record chronicles intimate moments in a person's life, from the acceptance of a loved ones death in the title track, to breaking up bitterly on "Don't Wanna See You." It's honest and hard as nails country served up without the sugar.
