    Good Points: Cheap
    Good signal strength
    Nice looking
    Single LED for easy use

Bad Points: Cheaply built (not as solid as my dwl-650+)
    Original software didn't work correctly

General comments: I bought the SMC Networks SMC2635W network card at an auto show here in Toronto, and to be honest, after I paid I had my doubts, but when I got home and plugged it in I was wrong. I had to reload my Compaq with Windows 98SE, but I did get it working.

The original software that it came with wouldn't hold the WEP code after rebooting, so I had to download the version 2, but it was worth it. It fixed that problem and hasn't caused any trouble since.

I wouldn't recommend this card to anyone, for the simple fact that you can get a much better one for just a few bucks more. I would say this card is only for more advanced users that know what they're doing, just on the simple fact that the software isn't that great. If you get version 2 and have it setup, it will hold your settings. You can have different profiles based on where you are (I have one for home and school, and it's easy to switch between them). Just keep in mind that if you have problems with this card, try upgrading to an OS that is at least 98SE or higher, and that you have version 2 of the drivers installed (20Mb download).

This card is well worth the money, but there are other cards on the market for a better deal. I'm sure that for 40 - 60 Dollars you could get a Dlink or Netgear, or something else. Also, for that amount of money, you'll get a warranty and a receipt. I didn't get either with this card because I bought it from a car show vendor. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for.
