I bought a Citroes C3 sxi (2003 model) in June 2007, with full service history, 23K on the clock and knowing the previous owner (family member) knew it was reliable with no problems. How wrong that turned out to be:

Fuel Injector - failed within 2 weeks. The garage where it was originally bought decided not to tell me that it was a known fault, a washer had caused the injector to malfunction, only after lenghtly research on the net/ denial by both the garage and citroen and standing in their ...

Pleased with my citreonc3 1.4 sx car at first cheap insurance , low tax , good on fuel and a nice comfortable driving position especially on long journeys . Then after 2 years of ownership the problems started . Front spring collapsed on pasenger side . Then car started losing power with a cracked number 4 injector . All the others were caked up really bad . Seals were also damaged causing deisal leakage and what a rip off by citreon got them for a third of the price from ford .
To top it off i ...

Looks like a common problem with Citroen C3 1.4 SX be aware!

Same happened to me my engine light came on and the car cut out, another garage fixed this and got me going again but within a couple of days the car cut out again. I took this to a citroen garage and they fixed injector number 4 it had corroded with the rain as apparently there is no seal on the injectors to prevent this! and set me back £260. Here I am a month down the line and the engine light has come on again after a night ...

I had a real issue with my Citroen C3 1.4 SX. The engine management light came on and then the nightmare started. The car kept stalling at low revs (below 2000 rpm). Took it to a small garage who couldn't work out what was going on. They kept following the error codes reported by the CPU with no progress. They tried looking at the electrics and found "pulsing signals" instead of clean signals? which affected injector number 4. They decided it was the CPU and sent it off to a specialist who said ...

I bought my C3 04 reg brand new, it is now 5 years old and has under 25,000 on the clock. Last December I had my first problem when I returned to my parked car and found that the front had collapsed. AA took it to a garage and said passenger side coil spring had snapped. In January, engine light came on - fuel problem £300 bill. Last week I was driving on the road, heard a bang and car collapsed again - driver side coil spring. Lucky it wasn't on a busy road as I couldn't move the ca ...

Bought my C3 1.4HDI SX 92bhp 53 plate brand new. Has got 77k on clock now. Had to replace all four Coil springs, all four Brake Pads and Discs for first MOT at my expense. Reported to dealership after a year that there was a problem with suspension but never did anything, Brake discs when picking car up from new were rusty. Warranty checks and service were a waste of time, they didn`t seem to want to know. Poor dealership. Both dip bulbs blow every winter. Another coil spring gone again! Great ...

A nice well equiped car in sx trim, handles well and is very very
smooth indeed on a long run, cheap on fuel and tax (HDI)
The Citroen C3 1.4 SX's tyres brakes etc last a long time.
However certain aspects of the care seemed poor, there were lots and lots of bits of plastic in the engine bay that rattled and broke
The suspension spring breaking seems more common than you might think (there was a recall to fit a cup to retain the spring
should it fail). I think they should have replaced the spr ...

I have suffered the same problems as many other people. I bought the car in 2006 when it was 2 years old and had only done 6,000 miles. Before long the CD player and fuel injectors had failed (luckily the was still under warranty or it would have cost me in excess of £300). Most recently the engine throttle has failed. As it is no longer under warranty I do have a bill for £300 this time. Having read the other reviews I afraid that now my car is 5 years old and has done nearly 40,0 ...

I bought this car for my wife at the end of 2003. She is still happy with the car and so I am. In city driving and when I prefer economy over performance I also use this car. And as a very tall guy I should admit that it is the best car for driver in its class for big size. So far we have not lived big problems. Just the materials especially plastics used inside are very low class and feels cheap. But I saw that new models quality are upper. I really recommend this car to anyone who is consideri ...

Own 52 C3 1.4hdi exclusive with 68k on the clock.
So far coil spring went at 4 years, various sensors are going off (had to disconnect bonnet sensor).
Latest is the engine management ECU is now u/s. Citroen have had it for 3 days for diagnostic checks to no avail, and now assure me faithfully that a team of French Citroen specialists are looking at it.
Its a pity because its quite a nice car, although I will be looking to trade it in.

Some style over substance but a good value buy. Flimsy interior, limited rear leg room and sluggish performance (especially with an auto). Question mark over reliability and certinally not a drivers car.

I have had my Citroen C3 exclusive for 5 years and had no problems with it until last year. Problems started with the car having what can only be described as a cough when cold. After having this cough which usually happened when accelerating into third it ran like a dream for the rest of the journey. Dealer said it ' s the fuel pump that's £900 thank-you very much. About 4 months later same problem. Dealer said turbo hose came off put it back on job done. Took car home same problem next ...

Since we bought the Citroen C3 in 2004 it has given us noting but problems. Now 63 000km later the feul injectors have gone and the deal wants to charge us R20 000.00 to repair. If you want to buy a C3, think again. What a waste of money.......
I wish I had read these articles before I bought in 2004!

I first reviewed my Citroen C3 in November 2004, now 3 1/2 years later it has done 89,000 virtually fault free miles. After reading the various horror stories about other C3s I realise that I have probably been very lucky with this car as I've spent very little on it. I have done all its servicing myself for the past 2 years, it has been backwards and forwards to Spain on many occasions and has never missed a beat. When it has done 100,000 miles I'll probably get rid of it.

Like many of the other reviews I have had problems with the engine light. Which started with me needing a new coil pack and then a new injector. Still having problems, and dread that light coming on again, which it does occassionally. My car is only 5 years old with small mileage, but I have been told I am best to get shut.

We bought a 52 Citroen C3 last tuesday (18/03/08) from leaving the garage 5-10 m ins later an engine warning light came on, which worried us, the car was jittery and stuttering a bit nut hjust thought it was cause it needed a good run. the garage came to pick it up the next day to take it back to check it over, brought it back later that day and have booked it in to the Citroen garage for tomorrow to have the settings altered or something, but after reading all these reviews im thinking it might ...

If anyone is prepared to take their problems further, then I would be happy to join them. It is not good enough!I have given this car an average rating as - on the whole - it is a good car. I just find it totally unacceptable that a component can fail and put the driver and passengers in potentially extreme danger.
