Good Points: * no phone cables needed
* no downtime over the past few years
* mobile, so i can take it with me
* no long term contract
* free 1 month trial, if you decide you like it you keep it or return the modem (my original trial was 100% free), second trial months later i keep the service.
* support is friendly and helpful (but restritect to peak time weakdays)
* good value for money
Bad Points: * pings are just too high as it uses PPPoE, in the range of no less then 350ms for UK, average pings to US about 600ms+, so service is no good for gaming when compared with normal broadband with pings of less then 60ms always
* connection drops frequently (possible because is idle) so i need to reboot the router and the NOW modem often when this happens and in a specific sequence
* tech support only available during peak time weekdays (where home users most likely need support off peak and weekends)
* billing system has its faults but nothing too serious (they cut me off over 1 weekend, due to a billing issue and service was restore monday when support was back online)
* as far as I am aware they block email ports so that users use their email system (the alternative is to use hotmail/yahoo/etc which are not tied to normal email ports) ( i guess this stops spammers from abusing the service to a certain extent)
* I'm 100% convinced radio waves are not very good for the brain
General comments: Other then the pings not allowing me to play games online, I'm pretty happy with the service.
only provider which can currently be considered a broadband service as i live to far from exchange, normal adsl only offers up to 256kb. Cable broadband is not available.
The media seems to indicate NOW broadband maybe venturing into WIMAX technology in the near future, at least they have been granted the spectrum licenses, the question is will they make use of them, if another provider comes my way who offer WIMAX before they do, then bye bye NOW broadband, they better move their back sides, one of such providers is freedom4.

Found Now Internet reliable and faultless so far, after more than a year. Customer service is the most rapid I've known from an ISP. And at ten quid a month why is anybody complaining? No line rental either. Gives you complete independence from evil British Telecom.Highly recommended- Read vengeful's review (51 words)

Now is not taking in any new customers. According to its outsourced customer service desk it is not taking in any new customers "while it evaluates new technology"
It is also cancelling contracts of "unprofitable radio sites", but, since it is taking in no new customers, it is creating self induced churn and then creating unprofitable.
After all, as it gets rid of customers its revenue shrinks. No new customers means no new revenue.
Add to this the fact that it is not at all cost comp ...- Read Bounced's review (99 words)

Cheap broadband with 1 bar signal when it finally does connect! I got cut off within 2mins of connection. Doesn't work in bad weather. PP Connection always Fails. Oh not to mention the flimsy aerial which could break due to wear and tear at any moment and if this does happen you get charged £150.00.- Read Hayleyjayne8's review (64 words)

If you can get it in your area, and if like me you don't have or need a home phone line I think Now broadband is a very good offer (£14 a month for 512Mb or £18 a month for 1Gb). I have had it for a few weeks now, and the service is perfect for my usage. 512Mb is fast enough to watch most streaming video etc. It's very simple to set up, and the customer service is very good (no waiting on the phone, 30 day money back period).
Initially I went for the new Now Laptop card; just beca ...- Read tonymchugh282's review (270 words)

Now Broadband is worth a look if you don't want the expense of having either a BT line or cable service. If you don't like it, just send it back!
The modem etc arrives very quickly once you order.- Read marigg's review (112 words)

If you want to share your broadband connection through a router, now broadband is a poor option. The signal is very unstable, and it goes on and off every now and then. Their account system is poor. They don't accept a Solo card for payment. My friend who only has a Solo card asked me to pay on her behalf, which I did. However, six months after she left the UK and had already returned the modem. Now broadband has charged me 150 pounds with no obvious reason. I have wasted a lot of time trying to ...- Read phrae's review (222 words and 3 comments)

Don't get tied down in a 12 month contract. If you do and you aren't happy with the service, argue that the service is not fit for its purpose and invalidate the contract!!!!

The Now broadband service offers a different type of broadband alternative, as you don't need a phone line. It connects to a signal via a wireless modem (similar to a mobile phone).
It has reasonable speeds, good customer service (answered in less than a minute), and next day delivery. It is very good. However, I'll be returning mine since I want a faster connection.- Read aaroncheang's review (93 words)
