A good suction with a 2kW motor but after 4 years one motor winding burnt out so it no longer works an A spare motor seems to cost more than a new vacuum. Motor Brushes were only about half used in this time. On/off plastic cover broke when getting the motor out. Very feeble plastic restraint pins (read more)

Had this Miele S5210 Cylinder cleaner for 18 months, and it has burnt out. I bought Miele as I expected good quality and durability, but this was neither. The bag full indicator permanently jammed, the tool opening cover was flimsy and kept popping open, the tools are awkward to position correctly to close cover, the suction is OK with a new bag, but the bags fill up and block very quickly. If you re-use a bag it is tricky to empty and performs badly. Bag capacity is low so you really... (read more)

most expensive and most frustrating vacuumcleaner i have ever bought.
when cleaning the thing tows behind you like a heavy shipsancor, very heavy on its "wheels" that are obviously not doing what "wheels"should do, and the cleaner itself is very heavy too.
the pro-side is, it makes vacuum cleaning like a real work-out and will build you some muscle.:))
for the 140 euro's i bought it for, they surely also could have added a longer electric cord, since we have a pretty large home, the cord...

Excellent vacuum cleaner and has been great over the last 3 years however I am very disappointed as the handle has just broken. The plastic curved piece between the metal pipe and the rubber pipe where the hole is to increase or decrease suction. It seems it is obviously an issue with the product as there is a metal wire underneath for support. The piece should really be made of metal. I have spoken with Miele and they have told me it is £35 to replace as it is not covered under... (read more)

I have used a few cleaners in my time but the Miele S5210 takes some beating. It has a powerful suction function with the option of several different suction 'strengths'. It is a very durable machine which is stylishly designed as you would expect from Miele. I have had this machine for two years now and it is as efficient now as it was when I first bought it. This a surprise on a very well engineered machine in every other respect, carbons are still nearly full length and armature windings and commutator look really youthful, if those connectors had been just a millimeter or two fatter I would never have seen them and the machine would still be running!
Do Miele S5210 make their own brush assemblies or do they buy them in from the far east?

The Miele S5210 is a good all round cleaner, very powerful. Suction hoses stretches very easily so take care not to pull it around too much, once this happens the hose then collapses, causing no suction and overheating, it will cost you £15 to replace. Other than the hose stretching very good. (read more)

I would recommend the Miele vacuum as it is a well built quality product though a little expensive. Powerful suction and easy to use and store. (read more)

I'm well impressed with this Miele S5210 vacuum. It just oozes quality. The hoses clip together positively, the accessories are all tightly engineered heavyweight plastics, and even the cable feels stronger and more flexible than most peers. It's easy to maneouvre, it vents air out of the TOP of the hoover so you can still use it while it's stood on its end. It's very quiet compared to cheaper models even on full power setting (which is quite powerful - it'll easily clamp the head to your... (read more)

This is one of two Miele's in our home, the other being the Cat & Dog TT 5000, another excellent cleaner. We also have a Miele washing machine, a Miele dishwasher and likewise a new Miele chest freezer. Whilst Miele products are not cheap, they are without doubt built to last and just ooze Germanic qualities of understated engineering. Back to the cleaners, for best results, always use the genuine dust bags. Have tried pattern bags and whilst performance is still good, the genuine bags last... (read more)

This is one of the better vacuums available that I have tested. Firstly it looks beautiful, the black and silver colour scheme is very modern. The build quality and 20-year reliabilty is better than Hoover or Dyson could ever dream of and is only rivalled by Numatic, Sebo or possibly a Swedish made Electrolux.
The sheer suction power of this machine is stunning! with a 2200watt motor theres not many vacuums on the market that can out perform the S5210. The suction is too powerful for most...

This vacuum cleaner by Miele is of excellent quality, its sturdy and robust and the pipes and tools are quality and not plastic rubbish. It sucks right up to the bag full and I vacuum everyday and it lasts me a month on one bag and you can buy them cheaply enough from e bay and you also get the filters with the bags which ensures that you change them regular.
I cannot fault the S5210 at all it is well worth the money I paid for it. TOP QUALITY.

The Miele S5210 vacuum cleaner comes standard with regular attachment tools, 2 bags, extendable steel extension wand and changeable main brush head (carpet and floor). I am very impressed with the build quality, and nothing appears to be cheaply made. The power (2200 watts) is extraordinary, and you must actually reduce it on carpet or it will pick it up!
Suction power is adjustable via a dial on the canister for varying conditions - you can crank it right down for economy vacuuming or...

My 18 month old Miele has, just this afternoon, burnt out it's motor. Fortunately still under warranty.
My 13 year old Dyson, that has never missed a beat, shall stand in until a repair is made.
