“I just mounted a set of Michelin Power Pilot 2CT's...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/04/2010

I just mounted a set of Michelin Power Pilot 2CT's last week and put 150 miles on them so far. These break loose incredibly easy from a dead stop on the street, especially when crossing painted stop lines in town. I just dropped my bike after the rear tire broke loose and spun out while crossing a painted stop-sign line in my neighborhood, going into a left turn. Tire was fine, hit the paint and immediately broke loose, sending the rear swinging around. As I ride a heavy sport-touring bike, there was no catching it to prevent the fall--I now have nice scratches on my previously pristine side case, and boy am I p1ss3d. I've put 45,000 miles on this bike in 3 years, I'd previously always ridden Avon Azaro's or Storms without any such problems but bought these after reading good reviews. Wish I hadn't, I'll either go back to Avon or try a different brand--these are rubbish! Maybe they'll break in to be better, but I'm pretty unhappy with them right now--avoid these like the plague!

I found this review not helpful because it sounds like a classic case of a poor workman blaming his tools!

I've got the telephone number of a good opticians. Would you like it?? You clearly need to book an appointment as you seem to have trouble staying away from painted WHITE lines on the road. Seriously, whenever i started using these, i stopped using all others. They are phenomenal. I am a fast all year round road rider. I have used these babies on an '04 ZX10R, a GSXR1000k5 and GSXR1000K1 to name but a few and have never had cause for concern. Awesome rubber.

By his own admission only 150 miles on the tyres as of today?

I know the general rule is at least 100miles break in period, but i for one dont get to 100 miles and then to get my elbow donw casey style.

Perhaps the combinaiton of a new tyres and white lines caught the rider out.

I had these on my zx6r and found them way better than Bridgestone standard fitments.

I am just having them fitted to my daytona 675 which has Pirelli SuperCorsa SP fitted, ok but not as good in the cold and wet of a British Winter i feel.

I'm sorry to tell you that you are completely wrong in your approach. Try to cross painted stop lines with other tyres and the result it will be the same...
This tyres are very good and give the rider lots of information. Don't blame the tyre for your bad luck, it's just not right to do it.
