Good Points: Extremely durable, excellent sound quality,no bugs/errors, good performance with extended battery (mn-6120......1200 miah), excellent display, extremely reliable.

Bad Points: Size is relatively big compared to new phones, heavy weight, no vibration.

General comments: Well, what can I say? Poeple have been blaming me for being so attached to my gh-688 phone (most of them are nokia users),but the only thing I can say is that it`s a real phone, a very powerful communication tool (at least at the time it was launched) Most of poeple I know (if not all)have upgraded to newer, smaller models and I still have my gh688!!, most of my friends had thier old phones broken, stolen or became full of errors but my ericcson is still working fine with NO ERRORS, low maintenance and 100% reliability.
I`ve been curious to buy a new phone lately and keep my gh688 as backup but it didn't take much time to come back to it, as I got an ericsson T66 phones and sold it after one week (poor reception, very poor battery) then I got a T100 samsung and although it`s a good phone, it`s not good enough to reach the gh688 sound quality!!.
POEPLE AT SONY ERICSSON:PLZ REMAKE THE T39 COZ UR NEW SONY ERICSSON TOYS ARE NO WHERE NEAR THE GH688 OR THE T39.

My first mobile 'phone was an Ericsson GH388 and I bought a second-hand Ericsson GH688 from a friend who was upgrading. This was over two years ago and I still have, and use, the GH688. I have had two other model Ericsson mobile 'phones since purchasing the GH688 and the GH688 always comes to the fore as my trusty backup 'phone. As mentioned in the Bad Points section, the screws came loose probably from my using the vibrate accessory attachment. I (wisely) had an Ericsson technician tighten them ...

A basic mobile phone with enough functions to be useful, while still being easy to use. The extended/high performance battery is an useful upgrade.
The phone exudes high quality, including charger and connectors.

I've had this phone for 2 years now after serveral nokia phones and must say it is very well built. Ive dropped it several times and there isn't mark on it. Call quality is excellent too.
The nokia phones seem to have a better menu system though.
