Good Points: Postcode facility is spot on .
Good clear and timely instructions for direction changes
'Speaker' is very good , not 'tinny' as on some of the other models in the TT arsenal
Decent choice of instruction 'guest voices' for free

Bad Points: The 'snap action' pad has fallen off the screen maybe half a dozen times in 2 years , but as its moved 3 or 4 times a day its not a major problem
Loses satellites in avenues of trees and sometimes 'freezes' but after an address retry its off and running again .
Have had to push the 'reset' button on a couple of occasions after 'freezing' and once had to remove the SD card to get things going .
M49 Near Bristol to the Severn Bridge / M4 seems to be a 'No mans land' where the system takes me off road while on the 3 lane carraigeway , sorts itself out by the time I get to the M4 junction

General comments: I bought a TT Go 300 about two years ago ~ I am a technophobe but even I found the instructions simple . I use the TT every working day to deliver cars all over the UK and in 99% of the cases I am at the doorstep , the other 1% gets me to within certainly 50 yards . The company I work for pays for updates even though the machine is mine .
I've installed a larger SD card just to be safe for any free additions that may become available
I have no experience of other makes but I would be more than happy to stick with what I know works rather than change

The product design and specification of Tom Tom One is very good. The only mounting cradle is the suction one that fixes to the windscreen, would be good if TomTom sold a cradle for mounting on the dashboard.

Clear screen when it works, good navigation but in my experience the sound stopped working after 6 months, battery lasts about four minutes when using as standalone. unhelpful website and back-up. Not very impressed with the customer service. I won't be buying another Tom Tom and going back to something we used for over 3000 years called "a map".

Also in my opinion the design is not very good, you put the SD card in the bottom and the amount of times it's fell out (i have lost 5) so I have to ...

Overall, I found Tom Tom One a great device which performs pretty well. Good display, very easy to use.

A great device which meets my needs perfectly (I am a Taxi driver) idiot proof. If you cant work out how to use this device you may as well give up.

Takes too long to calculate long routes ie just travelled from uk to french alps but had to calculate route in stages as tomtom was taking far too long to work total route out.
Not bad but as said takes too long to calculate long distance routes out. shame.

All round not too bad. I have the XL version with western europe map, post codes for EU countrys would be useful, In the last 18 months of use its never let me down, I will consider another TT but only after taking a good look at the others available...

I thought I was getting a quality product as it was more expensive than other sat navs. I used it 10 times in 15 months without a problem then it suddenly refused to switch on. I tried all the self help tips to no avail. I am not a happy bunny.

Do not buy one! Mine stopped working after just three months. The screen was constantly flashing with a cross. Attempts to resolve with my PC just resulted in more frustration, just indicating missing files, with no advice on what to do next. Terrible website, terrible backup service.

My wife and I deliver and pickup cars for a dealership, we have never been lost thanks to our tom toms, we got one a year ago and it worked so well we now have two, one for each car.

After looking around bought TomTom One 3rd edition. At first thought it was great but then the problems crept in. Wouldn't recognise traffic master, lost post codes and finally crashed and wouldn't store map settings. Took two days to finally get support. Was sent three pages of self fix instructions. Half way down second and 6 hours later wouldn't go any further. Another list of instructions, same again, another list of instructions, same again at this point lost the plot. Told them I wanted a ...

A good product idea, let down by implementation. You need to reprogramme (almost) everything if, like me, you are an irregular user becuase of the poor battery life. 'Shortest' routes are a joke on land - you can't drive across a field! It desperately needs a better way of installation in the car that comes as standard, and doesn't require permanent disfiguration to the dashboard.

Alternative systems are better than tomtom, not the leader in navigation. Post-Code errors, house number errors and very short battery life. Customer service not helpful, alternative systems are worth a look at for the price of Tomtoms.

In my experience, at unexpected moments the SatNav holder disconnects itself from the windscreen, and the TomTom suddenly falls onto your lap, or if you are unlucky, into the driver's footwell, which is very dangerous when you are driving at speed. Also, the Tom Tom keeps directing me to go over level crossings, where I get stuck in a queue of traffic, sometimes for 20 minutes, waiting for the train to pass. It would have been quicker if the Tom Tom had programmed a route for me which avoided ...

Love the TomTom One, the upgrades and stuff on the site is awesome. The other half fell in love with it. Personally I use a Mitac Mio for hands free but looking at getting one of these for the pure ease of use and poi.

Very helpful product - worth looking into purchasing if you struggle to find people to travel with who can read maps well! Sometimes a background of the area you are travelling in can be really beneficial - doesn't always provide the "quickest" route.

Have just bought a TomTom One prior to going on a UK touring holiday and have turned into a SatNav bore overnight.
If you haven't used SatNav before then take it from me that it's amazing. It's particularly useful when either arriving at or departing from an area with which you're not familiar. Saves time and more importantly money.
The TomTom One I've got is only for UK use, and may not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive models. But for the price it's a must-have. It will literal ...

From the short 'test' journey from the shop to my house, my Tom Tom One seemed pretty good. However, after following the instructions and downloaded the latest software and updates, it stopped working. After two hours with telephone support, I was advised to take it back to the shop and swap it - which I did, for another brand.

When I downloaded a map update for my TomTom One the unit froze and all I had was a flashing red "x" on the screen. Looking at the internet this has happened to a lot of people.
Think I will look for another manufacturer.

The Tom Tom One is easy to use with the postcode finder, however some of the features are more complicated and probably would not get used by everyone. I think that they load it on to make it look more justified for the price.
