Great value cheap runabout. I paid 4,995 in 1998 suzuki alto for a yellow one and ran it for 10 years doing 46,000 miles. It never went wrong or needed oil between services. The only part I ever had to buy was a door handle. It handles like my old mini back in the seventies and will leave a lot of faster cars on twisty roads. I'm 6 feet tall and found it big enough although a friend who is 6' 4" found it cramped when we took it to France. After 10 years I traded it for a Getz as the underside wa ...- Read Markyharley's review (115 words)

I bought my alto as a little runaround to get me to work and back. Bought it from new, within 18 months I needed a new engine as a piston broke, destroying the engine. After another 4 months another piston went. Had a year of driving problem free, and had to have a new speedo. After 16 miles the speedo broke again and have just had a new speedo sensor fitted. Luckily I had taken out an extended warrantee. Just waiting for the next thing to go wrong...... have spoken to other alto owners who h ...- Read sarahjacobs1's review (108 words)

Excellent value for money - bought ours new in 2004 for less than 5k this included metallic paint finish, 12 months recovery and 6 months road tax. Incredibly economic and with road tax at 40 per year what more could you ask for. Cruises at 75mph on motorways without any problem.
Its a fun car to drive, economical and after 4 years ownership the car has not cost us a penny in breakdown costs.- Read Guest's review (71 words)

Had the Suzuki Alto-Works about 6 months. Starts first time, the bonnet has slight discolouration but it is 7 years old. It has alloys and a CD player and it only cost me 450 pounds, so can't complain to much. Overall it does what it says on the tin and to be honest that's what it resembles.- Read L Rawlinson's review (68 words)

I owned a Suzuki Alto-works for 1/2 year. Very nice little car. Fuel consumption is amazing!
Also, acceleration is quite fast. If there's no wind and you're on a lone highway with little traffic, the performance is good.
Tends to be dangerously instable, when driving with strong wind, or making turns.- Read marmin001's review (64 words)

I have had my suzuki alto-works for 18 months and it has not let me down once, I am not looking forward to the day when I have to swap her for a newer car. The fuel consumption is amazing - my average journey is 3 miles to work and I'm still getting an average of 50 MPG, upto 57 MPG when I do a motorway run.
It is nippy enough to see off cocky boy racers in their fiesta xr2's (although I wouldn't like to try and see off a TVR).
All in all I can quite honestly say this is the best car I've ...- Read kitty cat's review (123 words)

This is an incredibly fun car to drive and if set up with the right tyre/rims combination can blow the roof off many a bigger cars in road race, being a 16v 1.0 litre engine, if any one there has succesfully modified the engine please post a comment- Read Bhupesh's review (54 words and 1 comment)

I have owned a Suzuki alto for 3 years and I will never let it go till it blows up, is written off, is stolen and burnt out etc! I WILL NEVER SELL MY BABY!!!!!!
Although she is only a 1 litre 16v injection engine, she can shift! Nippier than any other small car of equal power!
She kicks the butts off any 1.2 corsa, any 1.1 saxo any 1.3 fiesta of the mark!
A true fan of the Alto!
P.S. U should see the beauty of mine!- Read KJ's review (100 words and 1 comment)

I previously owned a Toyota Corona EXIV. I gave this car to my parents and bought a second hand Suzuki Alto from my grandmother. Comparing the two, the Alto is so much more economical and a lot more fun to drive. Handling is obviously not as good and the 800cc motor does not compare to the 1800cc motor of the Corona, but the simplicity of the Alto is a welcome sight. Parts are cheap, and two friends of mine, who also own Altos and have done for up to 10 years+, say they've had no troubles at all ...- Read Megs's review (136 words)

I own a 2002 Suzuki Alto (called Zen in India). It is a pretty decent car with a peppy performance and good mileage. Handles the rough roads of India pretty well. In fact it is one of the top selling cars in India.- Read David's review (53 words)

I am a learner driver and i use this Suzuki alto-works car in my lessons. Although i have not driven many cars i can clearly say this is the worst car to control, drive and look cool in. It has no distinctive features and plods along quite happily looking rubbish at every chance it gets.- Read arny's review (63 words)

If you want a little runabout this is perfect. Gear changing smooth and easy. Very good fuel economy Ive had 54.3mpg!! Very reliable though engine compartment a little cramped. To all the reviewers who dread having a accident in this car, what are you doing racing about anyway????
Buy this car if you want reliability or economy and low insurance costs. Don't buy this car if your a speed freak!!!- Read martymkfm's review (124 words and 2 comments)

I am the proud owner of a suzuki alto GLS, built in 1999. (Older types are not recommended) It looks like a grandma's car, but can be quite fun when the throttle is reached to the limit in sharp corners. I don't have powered steering (don't kwow how u call it) but that's not a problem with such a lightweight car.. overall a nice and cheap car.- Read Kootstra's review (91 words)
