I've owned my 106 1.1 XN Indapendance for almost 2 years now and I have to say I really do love this car. It's very fast for a 1.1 and very light since my moddle doesn't have powersteering or anything else to weigh it down. Without any mods it is pretty fast but with an aftermarket air filter it flys. Will do a top speed of about 115mph if push it and thats actualy off the clock lol. A lot of people I know have Corsa's and they aren't anywhere near as fast or as good handeling as my 106. Ofcause not everything is good about this car unfortunately. The main reason I only gave it 4 stars is because I've had a lot of things go wrong with it. Firstly my exhaust fell off and I needed a new middle pipe and back box, then it had a problem where the engine kept cutting off when it was warm which was caused by my O2 sensor, then I had to replace both drive shafts and my rear wheel barings, then I had to replace my fuel filter and then I had to replace all my brakes because something broke on my break shoes keeping them from working atall which then caused my front disc brakes to practicaly wear away. I ended up spending about £1000 to fix everything not to mention that most of that stuff went at about the same time so I did hate the car for a while but now its practicaly brand new all over it works great

I have a love hate relationship with my car when i first bought the Peugeot 106 i thought it was brilliant good looking and quite nippy, then unfortunatly the exhaust fell off after 4 days, NOT HAPPY. This was only the start, then i had to have a new clutch (not my driving)then wheel bearings started to go and then i had to have a whole new rear axle fitted so all in all this car has cost me a fortune!!! But i think i was just ripped off because when the car is in top condition i think its a bri ...

We have owned Peugeot 106's for some years now and have grown quite fond of them We now own a 12 year old 1.1 XN model in blue. The car had done 51k when we bought it and it has now done 93K.
The XN is very basic with no power steering, electric windows etc... It is still an enjoyable car to drive. There is a sunroof, which is a blessing as there is no air con. For a 1.1, the car is nippy and good on fuel. I also owned a 106 Zest 2 and found a problem in both cars, however. I have noticed that ...

The Peugeot 106 1.1 Zest 2 was my first car, it wasnt my first choice, but i have never looked back! i have owned it a year now and unfortunatly it must go to afford my VTR but has been great to own. I always thought a 1.1i wouldnt be quick, but actually its not bad, i dont care what the parkers specs say they lie its not 14.7 seconds to 60, with 3 people in the car i managed it in 11.3. the standard suspention is poor it rolls around the road like it was drunk, but i had spaX springs all round ...

For a 1.1, it is very fast. I just have induction air filter and performance back box and without it it can go quite well when I put them on.
Very quick small car very cheap to insure and petrol with the exhuast and induction air filter im still getting 48 mpg.

A great little car! The Peugeot 106 Zest 2 is stylish to look at, and has a funky colour coded interior to match. It is great to drive around town, and is economical, getting 300 miles on a tank. It is fun to drive around bends as it has great handling. The engine is small but powerful, so it's comfortable driving on the motorway, and overtaking. The engine is quiet, and the car feels strong. The standard fit speakers are also very good if you want to crank up the summer tunes!
