Lan Airlines removed my new combination lock within 25 minutes after check-in and did not put it back on my suitcase. Their customer service in Lima refused to allow me to file a claim and has not responded to email communication for replacement. Their customer service is unfriendly and unresponsie, the planes are cramped and uncomfortable, service on board is unfriendly, a thoroughly unenjoyable experience I do not plan to repeat.

I'M A FREQUENT FLYER AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN AIRLINE THAT TREATS THE PASSENGERS SO POORLY BOTH AT THE CHECK IN COUNTER AND IN-FLIGHT SERVICES. THEY OVERCHARGED US FOR OUR LUGGAGE AND THE "CUSTOMER SERVICE" DEPT. IS IGNORING OUR REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. WHEN CALLS ARE PLACED THE PHONE RINGS WITHOUT ANY ANSWER. I am reading through a lot of negative reviews for LAN airlines. Perhaps it's just the Peru portion of the airline that has such poor service. I've flown LAN numerous times between Quito and Miami, and the service was fine. the flights were on time, the seats were very comfortable and the food was good. I'm flying soon to Buenos Aires on this airline, so it will give me a chance to compare.- Read terrizosia's review (76 words)

Cannot get hold of anyone at their toll free number 866-435 9526. No one answers. i have been on hold with music playing for over an hour - no indication of anyone being there to even answer questions. This happens with no matter what choice you make on the telephone system, even if you punch the "make new reservation" option. Absolutely great!!!!!! Flying with this airline is like being packed in a sardine can. The seat are very uncomfortable; they do not recline very much. First Class is no one sitting in the middle of three seats.
The customer service at check in is unfriendly, the supervisor's explainations defied logic. We were forced to check our bags whhich we normally carry on and actually carried on in the first leg of the flight. The attitude of those working for LAN PERU and dealing with the customers has become overbearing and arrogant. LAN has hired without evidence of training employees in Customer Service.... A normal person gets a position and they think they have power - give them a uniform and they can command. NOT.

I've visited 44 countries around the world, and LAN airlines has gotten distinction of worst in class. I pity the poor workers at the counter, having to put up with management that must be very serious about ruining the tourist business in Peru. The complaints the workers have to take because the flights get cancelled all the time, the information given out changes from minute to minute, the procedures to handle complaints are non-existent. Customer service did not exist. We had no help at all and when we asked what to do with some souveneir walking canes we bought, the representative told us all we had to do was wrap it in the plastic wrap, after going through the ticket lines, then the security lines, they even told us to put the canes through the scanner... then someone walked up to us said that we couldn't take them on the plane. LAN Airlines is HORRIBLE - Uncomfortable. and clearly staff is SELFISH with no idea of how to make passengers happy or comfortable. When we checked in, front desk woman was clearly good at her job, but offered no consolation in getting our seats. We asked her for seats, she said to ask at the gate. Typically you can get them at the counter. We were 2 hours early! we had submitted all appropriate paperwork. but apparently that's just how they do things. Lan Peru is the worst! Me and my children went a humanitarian mission to help children in Peru...The LAN Airline agents were rude and acted like a mafia to to treat us as bad as possible in the airport... I have greatly enjoyed my flights with LAN. They provide great meals that come with wine and coffee, clean blankets, earplugs and sleep masks. I greatly enjoyed the perk of having my own t.v. consul with a wide variety of movies, games, and shows to select from at no additional cost. When my plans changed and I wanted to add an extra week to my vacation, I only had to pay a $75 dollar fee to change flights. LAN airlines is one of the worst airlines I've ever been on. I've flown a total of 3 times to south america with this airlines because they are the only airline that offers non-stop service from LAX. The crew doesn't want to hear any complaints so be careful if you have a complaint. I've never experienced such bad customer service in an airline. My experience with LAN airlines has been disgusting. I am a frequent flyer (taking about 20 flights a year), and this has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced. After going on a ONE hour flight, LAN airlines managed to lose my baggage. The baggage they lost contained only new items that were just bought since I was moving to a new city. I have spent months emailing(as requested) and calling LAN Airlines in hope of receiving a refund of credits or cash value without luck. I get difference responses every time from the customer service reps. I was told earlier this summer that I could buy back my credits for $300, and given a reference number. In my experience, worst customer service EVER. Customer service reps did not know anything. Everything I asked them was a no. example: I asked for a route change at LAX. I was told I could not do it. Went to the airports lounge and changed it online. After I changed it, they said, oh yes you can change it. For them, it's never "the customer is always right" nor "the customer is sometimes right." it's always "LAN is always right. until proven wrong". LAN Peru is probably the worst. I would not recommend you fly with LAN especially if you ever have to deal with their customer service. I cannot even begin to describe how appalling the service was. I spoke to at 6 representatives, everyone was as bad as the next.- Read Guest's review (79 words)

Flight LAN800 NZ to Santiago, delayed, then cancelled. No information given to passengers by crew about extent of likely delay, nor when the flight was to be resumed. They put us up in a hotel overnight but only paid for a 3 minute phonecall, the hotel charged me $4.50 per minute thereafter. After a 26 hr wait in Auckland plane left for Chile sans moi, I had missed my meeting by then (the point of the trip) and simply returned home to Australia.- Read ggag's review (90 words)

I tried to reserve on 3 different occasions and failed to do so because of the apparent lack of respect and customer service. They are the least expensive airline flying to Ecuador but I'd rather pay more and know that I will be taken care of.
There is no miami office, so I was always transferred. I spoke to 3 different sale peoples and they each seemed rude to me and unwilling to help. This airline was good to a point but I do not recommend anyone flying LAN.- Read Guest's review (95 words)

Overall, the airline is excellent. I am based in Santiago, and frequently fly to Argentina and Brazil. Absolutely nothing compares to LAN for these destinations, and the few times I have chosen a different airline, I haven't been satisfied. When I fly to the USA and Europe, LAN is my first choice when flight times and destinations permit.
