Bought second hand at approx 50k miles. Renault's after sales service was inadequate and incompetent They said they changed a track rod when I complained the car was unsafe to drive, but I couldn't tell the difference afterwards.Having palmed me off till the warranty expired, R then invited me to spend lots of money replacing "warped" brake disks (which are still perfectly true 40000miles later) when the real problem was a buckled wheel (which they had switched to the rear when I complained abou ...- Read Guest's review (382 words)

I owned a 52 plate 1.9 Dynamique Sport Tourer for 18 months and recently traded it in - not for another one though! It had 52k on it when bought with 1 previous owner and FSH (not all stealership though). The car was in mint condition when bought and overall I drove it for 26k servicing it at 9k intervals not the suggested 18k..- Read yorkie67's review (129 words)

Owned 3 of these Renault Laguna 1.9DCI cars, all second hand, latest has 124000 on the clock and pulls like a train. I have towed our caravan all around France 2 years running and the car has not missed a beat. I firmly believe that if you service at correct intervals using the correct fully synthetic engine oil these engines will not fail you. It is important to note that Renault do fit remanufactured turbos and charge the same price as a new Garrett unit so just because a car has full service ...- Read siteman223's review (196 words)

I like the look and lay out of the Laguna, but the reliabillity is terrible.....Do not buy this car...I have based this on owning a 1.9 dci 120 bhp and its the 2nd 1 ive owned, yes like a tit I fell for it twice hoping the second low mileage car would be different, but low and behold it let me down 2 days after buying it. My laguna came with full service history and 61k on the clock and the turbo failed, when the turbo goes on these little puppy's it throws oil into the engine causing it to rev ...- Read terry turtle's review (159 words)

The only thing that still works in my Renault Laguna Sport Tourer 1.9dci 120 Dynamique is 3 ele window. Everything else has gone at some point, spring broke, turbo blow, steerlock, ect, had it 5 year, been off the road for about 1.5 year on and off, cost about 2,500 a year to keep on road, that not tax and insurance ect, this is all extra and most off the time it has it go to a renualt dealer- Read strong's review (74 words)

Looks lovely, lots of kit, very modern, clearly designed recently, designers have clearly thought about the interior and making the owner feel special (Aston Martin-esque Start/Stop button, opening tailgate glass, huge sunroof).
Have a look at Parkers and Honest John's forums before you even consider buying a Renault diesel (Laguna/Clio/Megane/Scenic). It's a design problem they aren't doing anything about but are aware of.- Read Guest's review (102 words)

Bought my Laguna Grand Tour 1.9 dCI 120 in March 2002 specifically for autobahn driving (my then job required it) - so far 210,000 km. The equivalent VW or Audi models were considerably more expensive. Wonderful for autobahn journeys. Has always returned good consumption and has been generally very comfortable.
Generally very satisfied with performance. I drive a lot less now, so am not looking to replace anytime soon. The game plan is to drive this car until it 'drops' - I hope another 5-6 yea ...- Read Guest's review (154 words)

If you buy a bad Renault Laguna Sport Tourer, then that's tough luck. I bought a really good one from Marks Tay near Colchester for £4,500 over a year ago, it's black, pretty, rides firm to hard, but then again it is a sports version so I would expect that anyway. I can throw this thing around like it's got Araldite tyres. I defy anybody to try following me around the lanes in a Ford Focus without first-hand knowledge of ditch-life. Maybe my one has been re-mapped because it goes more lik ...- Read pimpmyhide's review (415 words)

2002 Renault Laguna 1.9 Dci Sport, had nothing but trouble with the car from day one, ripped off bonnet open catch when looking at the car at garage! Front springs sheared, rear bushes competely worn, loosing water, no air con, no heat at all, squeeky seats, general rattles, tyre preasure electronics not working, sunroof leaking and pleases its self if it opens or not, electric windows please themselves, track rod ends worn, ball joints all replaced constantly, two new sets of tyres a year, card ...- Read andyJ's review (203 words)

I never use Renault service thus saving tones of money for not-frequent repairs. Keep your car service history just as same as with official Renault service by asking your non-official Renault service for receipts and notes. I drove VW for years and after this nice experience will never return to a German car, not comfy, and basic cars, unless loaded enough to by a beemer or a Mercedes. If properly maintained, a Renault should be as reliable and satisfiable as any other car.- Read mmladen's review (107 words)

If you are thinking of buying one, think again, or add 3 grand to your budget, as that is the least it will cost you to put right the now apparent and inherent problems with this car.- Read Skintagain's review (69 words)

The Renault Laguna Sport Tourer 1.9dci 120 Dynamique is really good value. Avoid all models with pointless toys (tyre pressure gauges are a waste of time, Sat Nav is in your eye line so irritates) as they can go wrong and are expensive to fix.
It's a big car for the money, cheap to run (except anything done by a main dealer), lots of kit. Mine has been extremely reliable, not a single day off the road in 73,000 miles.- Read richardw's review (100 words)

Some people have liked the Renault Laguna Sport Tourer, but I haven't found one Laguna driver who would buy another, or is satisfied with it. It will be a long time ,if ever, before I buy another Renault. What people forget about when listing such problems is the time wasted in regular trips to the dealer to get problems sorted out and arranging to get time off work and lifts home. One of the selling points of this car was the 18,000 mile service intervals, not much use when you are there every ...- Read Noel Elkin's review (188 words)

My Renault Laguna Sport Tourer is 3.5 years old - just out of warranty. It's done 25,000 mostly motorway miles. Over the course of a weekend the car developed a gear/clutch problem - could not select any gear with the engine running. Clutch pedal still had pressure. Start the engine with a gear already selected and the vehicle would move off, even though the clutch pedal was fully depressed. The local Renault agent wanted £750+vat to assess what the problem was, and a further £450+va ...- Read gordonavenue's review (172 words)

Purchased my Renault Laguna in November 2005 with 83K on the clock, bit on the high side but for a diesel only just run in! Clutch master cylinder sticking after 2K miles under my ownership, replaced by garage under warranty, whilst the clutch repaired car came back with an ABS problem again repaired by garage a wiring loom fault.
Once my warranty with the garage had run out the turbo blew, took the vehicle to Rapid Renault at Upchurch, (who are not Renault approved), turbo, intercooler and cat ...- Read Kennett's review (312 words and 3 comments)

This vehicle is a great looking car with loads of small touches which make it obvious it is French. However my love for the car has gone due to the reliability of the car bearings collapsing requiring new gearbox. Car does not even start on occasions due to the electrics being very temperamental.
There is clearly something wrong with this model as many owners are having the same problems but with a complete lack of help from Renault, all they have been interested in is taking the money for the ...- Read postle's review (212 words)

This is an update on my review by: jacb
Date: 20th Jan 2005 Renault Laguna Privilege Estate.
Yesterday I have since had to take the car back to the garage with a slipping clutch problem during fast acceleration. The engineer road tested it and concluded that it needs a new clutch kit and possibly a new clutch slave cylinder. Fortunately to be done under warranty. The car has done just over 23500 miles. The engineer also said that when they had it stripped down they would check the serviceabili ...- Read jacb's review (111 words)
