Bad Points: Uncomfortable seats if youre taller than 5'6". Rear visibility. Repair costs for suspension failures extortionate. Tyre costs. Rolly, wallowy handling. Plastic dash and interior.

General comments: My old man has got a Ford Cougar 24v X and really impresses me. I've got a BMW 325 and it keeps up no probs until you get onto B roads. Good points are performance and economy, cheap to buy, insure. Quite unique. good reliability.

Great value for anyone who wants a bit more oomph than standard saloons.

Saw a modded Cougar in London the otherday with gold paint job and rear wing - looked absolutely amazing and I had no idea what it was until I saw the 24v 3.0 badge - like a Japanese rocketship.

Excellent choice if you are looking for a cheap (ish) sports coupe with very good power.
Good points far outweigh the limited bad points and I would recommend this car.
Might want to opt for the X-pack if you can afford it, to have extras such as leather interior and a CD Autochanger.

The Ford Cougar 24v X is for you if you want a car that is sporty, fast good looking, practical, individual and not common as muck but manufactured by a mass producer this car ticks all the boxes. I believe this car will achieve a modern classic status in the next few years. I just love this package, though there are some minor shortcomings they should be judged no worse than other sports cars as they also experience these shortcomings and in many cases much more. The truth is if you want fiv ...

If you want a fast car that looks great, then the Cougar is for you.
If you don't want to waste money in petrol, the Cougar is not for you. The insurance is quite expensive too.

Unique and stylish design (lights, Fords 'edge design'), well thought out cruiser, the Ford Cougar is too big and heavy to be a true sports car - but that's not a criticsm. Comfortable for long journeys without suffering bodily failure (cramp, deep vein thrombosis) and you can hear yourself talk, even at 115mph (sorry officer). For a 2.5 V6, the fuel consumption is exceptional - 35mpg at 80 mph. Insurance costs arnt too terrible and the initial cost of the car is very reasonable (I have one of ...

I have had my Cougar for nearly 3 years and it's just clocked 100k but still going strong - changing car soon and it's going to be a hard act to follow. Will be very sorry to see it go.

The Ford Cougar 24v X sports car is an excellent car for the money - Mileage per gallon, good looks - real head turner, and top end performance (like being in a lightning jet) There has been some fed up boy racers in their fiestas and citroens they have been left standing at the lights! Speck of dust in the rear view mirror springs to mind ha ha.

Ford Cougar 24v X Sports Car Review
When deciding which car to buy the first thing that I had in mind was power and looks. When faced with my budget I was dissapointed because although I could afford a supra or a skyline there would be 10 to 15 years old with endless miles on the clock. So I thought to add some water to my wine and go for something newer but less powerfull but by no means uglier. So thats how the cat came to me. Since then I had enjoyed it to the max. From street racing to crui ...

Fords,a good car for good money enough said. Now a Ford Cougar 24vX, an excellent car for very good money. I have driven many cars in my time including the Mitzi GTO and the Honda R type (both good cars). The Cougar is a car for the man who wants to have speed and still be a dad at the weekend (No love its a family car no a sports car ;o) ). Dont moan at the price of fuel or mpg or even the running costs because if you have any V6 then they cost money. When Henery Ford made cars he made men equ ...

Almost 3 years and 96,000 miles and I'll be sorry to see my Ford Cougar 24v X car go. The replacement is a 330d Touring and I will miss the looks and the 3-door style of the Cougar but gain little in space or power.

I've had my Ford Cougar 24v for 3 years now...done 60,00 miles and never been let down. Cruises really well with little or no effort. Suspension could do with tightening up and seats could be improved.....but I still love the car.

Wish it had a V8...that would be nice.

The Ford Cougar 24v X is a nice fast fun car with room for 4 (just make sure the guys in the back duck whenever you close the boot).

Great all-rouder. Striking looks and style with practicality, unlike it's competitors the Cougar is a hatchback, so with rear seats down the boot is cavernous.

Effortless power delivery and great noise from the V6 make the Cougar a pleasure to drive. Even after living with the it for nearly 2 years I still get a buzz from driving this car. Just a shame about those poorly designed seats.

Excellent compromise between full on performance and long distance GT comfort - excels at fast A-road cornering
Suspension a bit clunky around town. Fuel economy could be better than 29mpg! Wide & long - tight spaces a problem for the faint hearted !
