I bought this 1980 Ford Escort Mk2 rs2000 custom in 1982 with c.22,000 miles. It was/is used infrequently during the summer months, and has never been used in the other 9 months during my ownership. In 1985, I modified it in order to keep performance on a par with mk3 rs turbos; fitting genuine 'X' pack accessories; ie german 'big valve' head, 44 idf downdraughts, steel crank, balanced & lightened rods, quick rack, single piece prop shaft, bilsteins, stiffer springs etc. It now has covered some 34k (genuine) miles, and has covered around 1,000 miles in 10 years. It is a 'practical classic', reliable, fun and highly recommended to novice and older! enthusiest alike, and easy to maintain. ***** star. Offers...? NO WAY !!

I bought my car back in 1999 over 2000/2001 totally rebuilt it to a standard factory condition.I only drive it in the summer as its always raining in the UK but its worth the wait. Great handling car, great to drive(no computers or crap like that to get in the way). If you are thinking of getting one my advice- GET IT.

    My first car and favourite.
They are increasing greatly in price due to the classic factor.
Raced at Bathurst and have won a heap of rallies.
SOHC 2.0 Litre Pinto packs a punch.

I owned mine for 12 years, and I bought what I thought was a good car, but it turned into a monster, so I spent the next 4 years rebuilding and modifying it up to a much better condition. With the modified engine I spent many happy hours blasting up and down the autobahn's scaring much more powerful cars, or so they thought, and generally wearing a big grin.

It was a reliable motor driving back to Scotland from Germany on numerous occasions, without a hiccup. The only real problem being the l ...

The Ford mk2 Escort RS2000 is great! We used our RS2000 to remove a stump within our yard. The car did not really like this mainly due to the fact that we happened to drive the radiator through the fan. Ihe one good thing which I must commend Ford on is the easy straightening of their front ends. Also I must commend ford on their interchangeable radiators eg. ford laser, Holden RED radiators.

I owned a Ford mk2 escort RS2000 a few years ago and i must say it was the best car i have owned or driven.
exetremely good on performance considering the age of these cars is up to 27 years old now.
110 mph top speed and a 0-60 8.5 secs in standard spec( 2.0 OHC pinto 110 bhp)is pretty respectable even by todays standards.
the parts availability is very good because these old beasts are still being used in rallying and i did hear of a vauxhall XE powered group 4 spec mk2 escort beating a wrc ...
