Good Points: easy to use, no skin irritation

Bad Points: when you need 3 new shaving heads is almost 50% of the price of a new shaver

General comments: Likewise my previous 3 Philips shavers, the Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec Men's Shaver again is a super piece of machinery. Easy to clean, and I prefer it over my Braun vibra shaver that needs new shaving coils every 8 months...

I have had it at least 6 or 7 years now and it has been faultless. I changed the heads about 18 months ago as the old ones were not as good as they had been and the new ones were great. A brilliant shaver well worth the money for me. I have used cheaper units but always got skin irritation and/or a poor shave.

I'm very surprised at the other reviews here. I suspect it just because people have found somewhere to vent their anger at a faulty unit?!
I have had the Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec Men's Shaver now for over 3 years. I got it shortly after they came out. My previous model was a cheaper Philips, which was OK as long as the stubble was not too long.
This however is the best shaver I have ever had!! It cuts very well, and does not nip or pull even long hairs. I have had it for its enti ...

I will not be buying a Philips shaver again. The television I bought was problematic too, and when they changed it, the new one was the same.

After 20 years of using Philishaves I have decided that all their more expensive models are an overpriced con designed to take away your cash, but with an expected lifetime of no more than the 2 years for which they are guaranteed, and often in fact the lifespan is much less.

All the alleged more clever shaving systems of the more expensive Philishave models are in fact marketing hype, and you will get just as good a shave on their latest 2 head battery powered model that costs £10. Th ...

Considering the expense I have gone to so as to fix the two mentioned problems I will not be buying another Philips Shaver as Philips have obviously reduced manufacturing costs by making the head out of plastic and their design improvement seems to be exactly the opposite. Such a pity as Philips used to be a good brand.

I have used the Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec shaver for a few months now, and it has proven to be a comfortable close shave. I recently dropped it and the plastic swivel head has broken, which means it is now unusable. I would buy another, but it has one very annoying feature. and that is it drops cut hair from the head unit as you are shaving - I believe this is a design fault. I will be trying a Braun next.

Philips HQ8894 Aquagenic 8000 Sensotec Men's Shaver: I last used a philishave about 8 years ago. My main reasons for stopping was the skin irritation and the dead skin and hair that needs cleaning out. Things have moved on and this shaver is brilliant. Smaller and quieter than the one I used to have and the sensitivity control is excellent.
Being able to rinse it under the tap is great and it drys nicely in its clock stand. A typical shave is 4 mins so a 100 min charge will last several wee ...
