Over the period 1997-2007 I invested £6000 in a Scottish Widows so-called Versatile Endowment Plan. It was a disaster, promising much but delivering little. This week I received a cheque for £6214, a miserable return over such an extended period. An identical policy I took out at the same time with Liverpool Victoria paid just under £8000. So, the message is, shop around, there are many much better companies around. I just hope anyone reading this will be able to avoid making the poor investment I did. I am just glad the amount involved was not any larger.
