Good Points: Awesome scenery. Absolute adventure of a lifetime.
Bad Points: Very cold. Hard work.
General comments: (2001) Iceland is just the coolest place in the world to go - I was gobsmacked by the vast natural wonders on show there. They love tourists and I was invited in to have a meal with more than one families who's land I was camping on. If you've ever wanted to go somewhere where no one else is at the same time to get away from it all - Iceland is the place. They have excellent camping facilities everywhere and pretty excellent hotels. I recommend the home made lamb stew. It tastes so much better freshly made on the farms especially after you've raced down a mountain after a trip to a glacier on the top on a mountain bike, or raced the local rapids or even just soaked in one of the many thermal pools.
its a bit of an expensive place so take plenty of dosh ,eg. beer £5 a pint.
