These guys cannot be trusted. They change the rules on you without warning, and without even the courtesy of informing you.

Don't believe the lies they tell about "flexible" equity release or "borrow back" as they have started calling it. And be especially careful of any fixed rate or capped rate tie in period, as you will not be able to exit without paying a substantial penalty when they do change the rules.

I would have rated Northern Rock zero across the board, but apparently 1 is the minimum you can give them, so 1 it is.

Reading other reviews regarding other internet bank accounts, I am sticking with these people. I have had the account for several years, and I have had no problems.
The other reason I'm staying though is that it can be a pain to set up another internet account, as there is too much to fill in, read and check and double check.

Their rates are almost as good as the best, so I'm happy to stay.

Northern Rock Tracker Internet Banking are happy to deal with you on the phone. I get an excellent response from emails and a good interest rate. The website is slow, but you can always use it late at night, then it seems a little quicker.

I have been with them for several years and I have had excellent service.

The Northern Rock tracker account is a very good account for interest etc., but actually accessing the online account is a pain. Especially if you are an Apple Mac user, as it is impossible when using old an operating system and you have to find a PC. I am not sure about using OSX as I have no access to this now.

I have logged on to Northern Rock twice today without being able to penetrate: at one point one is asked to insert `preferred' date and `preferred time' - unfortunatly the blocks haave remained blank

I have never come across such a slow site as Northern Rock, having operated an account for several months in 2002 - each page took ages to get to and some actions had to be double clicked several times.

If you have broadband then it is probably OK to use - if not, be prepared for a lot of frustration!
