This is the first alfa i have owend due to ther past reputation as, shall we say atractors of rust & not being to reliable. Anyway pleased to say purchased of ebay for £1200 & apart from oil & filter & areplacement rad, had no problems even drove to satu mare in romania in may this year. I know sounds crazy but she never missed a beat. All in all chuffed to bits, will stick with alfa from now on. P.S. she,s 156 ts 2.0 .- Read Guest's review (80 words)

Great Italian designed car considering everything you get from it.
I'f you are like me, and service the car yourself, giving it the love and care it truly deserves, you will not be disappointed.
If you nurse an Alfa, it will reward you.- Read dews's review (112 words)

Modern Alfas are able to compete in terms of perforance and quality, with most other comparable marques. Certainly, there is little risk of them rusting to bits like the cars of old, which were not built for our variable climate.
Perhaps I am less than objective, but I still think they represent good value for money, given their pedigree and cachet.- Read Guest's review (198 words)

The Alfa Romeo 156 was amazing value or money at £1700 (April 2007) and has been very reliable, probably because it has been properly serviced and covered only 65k miles. The car is well put together and nothing like older Alfas I've owned. Everything works perfectly, not so much as a blown bulb.
Interior comfort is good and the car is comfy for medium range journeys - I take my Citroen C5 if I'm driving to Bordeaux, the Alfa for a 100 mile sprint around North Wales. Even though she's a ...- Read Rick Hough's review (523 words and 1 comment)

On the whole I've loved owning this car however some pointers for potential buyers
a) I bought the car with 23K on it with service history
b) It's always had main dealer servicing at recommended intervals (min £300 - max £2500 [this excluding heater matrix below])
c) It has had additional works at main dealer as required
d) I've tipped in the litre of Selenia per month that it likes to drink
In this time it has consumed

I have had 3 Alfa Romeo's, a 145 1.8 TS,a 156 2.0 ts and now on a 156 1.8 TS. I agree with other reviews about customer services at dealerships. If you worry about the cost of running one do not bother to buy one.- Read 48414841's review (50 words)

I owned a 156 2.0 TS Veloce from new for nearly four years, and from start to finish it was an amazing car. I'm guessing that anyone reading this already knows that it's a great car to drive - the only questions people have over Alfas are reliability/build quality. So...The only mechanical fault it ever developed was one of the rear electric windows sticking closed, when the car was nearly three years old, but this was fixed under warranty. I went overseas for seven weeks in mid-winter, when ...- Read hoisttocrew's review (155 words)

I just bought a Alfa Romeo 156. Silver 1999 with only 16,400 genuine miles on clock. My previous car was a Rover 216 so you can imagine the buzz I'm getting from driving this! The Rover did me proud though.- Read ikalonji's review (52 words)

I bought my Alfa Romeo 1561999 2.0 TS 2 years ago with 57k on it from probably the best Arnold Clark Alfa Branch in Scotland [Perth]. I've just sold it to replace it with a 156 GTA. I should get it in 4 days 3hours and 12 minutes approx, not that I'm counting or anything. I've done a lot of miles in it in a short space of time [108k now] and have had very little problems with the car. However about 4 months ago it had an MOT and failed it. The work cost me £1200! The guy looking after me i ...- Read serioussam's review (380 words and 2 comments)

The Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark sports car is everything I expected it to be and more, I have owned all types of cars from ford to BMW, and they can't touch this car for drivability, the immense downside is the dealers... the previous owner payed an Alfa Specialist to repair an exhaust mounting bracket, and they fixed it back to the exhaust with 2 x Inlet manifold hose clips!!, then did a service and while replacing the air filter element sheared one of the three bolts holding the assy togethe ...- Read korkytcat's review (166 words)

This Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark is a beautifull car. Great to drive, a real thouroughbred. All cars have their faults and if you read a list of other makes you'll find them.
However, in saying that I have personally had no problem in two years of ownership. One thing though, don't try jumpstarting th car as it may damage the electrics and if you change the battery you may need the computer re-set to switch off the airbag light.
One area of concern is how well it holds it's value. It's certa ...- Read neil12's review (161 words and 1 comment)

I bought my Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark sports car 2 and a half years ago with 11,000 on the clock. It now has 55,000 miles up and it hasn't missed a beat. Aside from a set of tyres the most drastic thing has been a set of spark plugs. It does everything I want it to and is much more fun than my previous Golf GTI and BMW 3 series before that. Forza Alfa!- Read rperry75's review (94 words)

It's a shame such a great looking car like the Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark is constantly let down by poor servicing and build quality.
Alfa will only compete with their German rivals once they get their act together - looks like a long hard road.
With residuals low a used 3 year model with FSH would make a great buy.- Read Simon Tomkins's review (82 words)

I bought my Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark W-reg 2000 sports car from a private seller. it had only travelled 55,000miles with full alfa service history. But @ 60k the cam belt snapped (12000 miles before it needed changing) causing so much damage it needed a new engine @ a cost of £3200.00 from a main dealer.
I called Alfa customer services and I have to admit they where excellent! They offered to pay half the costs for the engine, and I got another £400 in vochers. so i paid £ ...- Read sarbk's review (119 words and 1 comment)

I have owned this Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin Spark sports car for 4 years and loved every minute of driving it. The car is equally at home pootling around town, or howling down twisty country roads on the wrong side of the speed limit.
When hustling the car, the suspension squats down and hugs the road, the steering is quick and precise, and as the needle climbs rapidly above 3500rpm, the engine snarls it's enjoyment.
On the downside, the relationship with my local dealer has been less than rewa ...- Read simes69's review (250 words)

The Alfa 156 2.0 twin spark GTA is a special engineering version of the 156 saloon upon which the European Touring Cars that race is based. You can tell as soon as you move off in first gear. The accelleration is fantastic, no torque steer, plenty of grip. The change through all six gears is perfect, far better than an M3 I had. The ride is firm but not as bone shaking as the M3. The steering at only 1.75 turns lock to lock is better than a 1980's Porsche I owned until it fell apart due to poor ...- Read edgington's review (161 words and 1 comment)

I Purchased my Alfa 156 2.0 twin spark new as a parallel import for £15k almost 3 years ago, my 156 has worked for its living, having now covered 45k with nothing serious to report. Cambelt and tensioners needed replacing as a precaution at 40k as there was no tension left. Only uses 3/4 ltr of oil between services. I took the front of the dash apart and remonted the CD player after getting fed up with it rattling. Nothing has dropped off otherwise and the car is a joy to drive hard, espe ...- Read marzipan's review (172 words)
