Practical and fun, not many around. Looks unusual - timeless looks that don't date, attracts attention & comments (all good!). We've had this car from new, 38k on clock and no bills except servicing. Air conditioning is efficient - super cool straightaway. Handles well, steering is responsive, braking excellent (nobody is in any doubt that you're stopping with the bright high level led brake lights!). Before I made this purchase I would have liked to have known why they stopped making them because I would love to have a new one!!

The Honda HRV 1.6i 4WD is a great car to have and to look at. It stands out from the crowd and there's never a danger of pulling up next to your twin at the traffic lights. Enjoyable and smooth ride on road (or mild 4WD offroading), spacious layout inside for 4 and a small-medium dog, easy to park, and reliable. Not a hatchback, not a 4x4, but a Crossover for all occasions. The only downfall is it isn't very economical for a 1.6L, although the vtec engine provides plenty of power for a 1.6L. Sha ...

if you want reliability, the Honda HRV 1.6i 4WD is the car, i bought this HRV with 12,000 miles on it, now 8 years, and with 91,000 miles on the clock, it has never let me down, nothing has ever gone wrong.
just normal servicing. and it really is a unique looking car, and classless. I just love it. I wish i had the money too buy a new one, in black.

There is a fault with the CVT start clutch that instead of recalling Honda extended the warranty to 7 or 10 years (depending on the model). You then have to fight with them to get it replaced.

Reliable. Eye catching looks. not many on the road. Responsive. Good cornering roll and grip. Good fuel economy. Good engineering and manufacturing standards.
A car I would highly recommend. Like all cars it is not perfect. It has strenghs and limitations.

Judders when moving off. Lost transmission on motorway, possibly due to gearbox overheating? Started to pull away normally once it had cooled down. Took approx 3 hours.
I would like to know if anyone has come across the above mentioned problem.

Get the facelift model from around 2001/2002 for a nice black suede interior and smarter dash. Also go for 3 door 4WD Vtec, for decent performance. Electric windows, ABS, air con as standard. Seats 4 comfortably, with a large boot. Reliable, solid car and rather unique as not many about!

I broke my back and was disabled badly but my Honda HRV has become my lifeline. I now work and visit friends everywhere and love to drive. I didn't want a granny car which was automatic and my hrv has given me street cred. I love it.

I bought my Honda HRV Sport Manual 3 door in 2001 with about 20,000km on it. Now, seven years later it has gone 140,000km without a single problem. I service it regularly, according to service recommendations. I have used my HRV in all conditions, from light snow to hot dry dirt roads. No problems ever. It has plenty of zip up most hills, but if they are really steep, 1st is always required. I also use my HRV as a mobile office on the job, letting it idle for long periods with the air conditione ...

My girlfriend has got a Honda HRV which she has had just over a year. We have replaced the back tyres twice and we find it skips in bumps. We have replaced the stabilisers at the rear and a brush which was worn, we have now spotted that the rear passanger wheel is slightly pointing to the drivers side and is wearing the tyre from the outside. Has anyone experienced this or knows what could be causing this. Please add a comment.

I bought my Honda HRV in 1999 and we reached 130'000 km without the slightest problem and very low maintenance cost. I am very impressed and satisfied with this car and hope I can drive for much longer. This car has climbed many mountains and never let me down. I am disappointed that this great vehicle is not produced any longer. I would buy the same model again.

I have had my Honda HR-V VTEC since 2003 from new, and have done nearly 114,000 miles, all over Europe. Outstanding vehicle, very reliable, and if kept serviced regularly needs no additional maintenace. Do not buy the Honda recommended (Yokohama) tyres, as they wander all over the place. Buy Kumho (from Korea). I got 66,000 miles out of the first set I used and have now done 40,00 on the current tyre, with little sign of ware!

I have owned my Honda HR-V from new (2001) it has done 43,000 miles I am a careful driver, have never abused the car (i.e. driven it off-road or thrashed the guts out of it). It has been regularly serviced but alas, I have just been informed that the noise it has started to make when the engine is hot is the power steering. It now needs replacing and Honda have informed me that it will cost nearly £700! Has anyone else had this problem or am I the only unlucky Honda owner with this problem ...

I have a 2003 Honda HRV with a CVT transmission. I love the vehicle. Even though there are a few points which could be criticized, over all the vehicle is more than satisfactory. I guess it is one of those love it or hate it deals. By the way, Aykan has mentioned that his car doesn't climb hills with a 20% ascent. Well, I climb hills of any sort in Istanbul and so far haven't had a single problem as such.

When I first saw my HRV I knew this was the car for me! It looked amazing with it's 4x4 cuts yet it was a reliable Honda, affordable to buy and run, mine is a 2 wheel drive so I pay same car tax as car users, economical on fuel (I have a petrol model), best ever 3rd brake light roof spoiler I have seen on any vehicle, starts first time every time.

The Honda HRV 1.6i 4WD has great road handling, especially in wet conditions, easy to park,we found the manual gearbox very responsive, but my wife needed the automatic, extremely reliable, dealer service was also exceptional. Very happy with the car, we have the 3-door hatch, plenty of space for 2 people travelling, re-sale value very good, the front end could have had a sleeker upgrade on later models.

This car is the best car I've bought so far. I've had Suzuki and Ford as my previous models but I will definitely stick with Honda for a long time. I plan on keeping my HRV until its 10 yrs old and then upgrading to a new one.

My HRV has an upgraded black leather interior with blue suede panels which goes well with the blue in the dash and with its reclining rear seats the kids love it on a long journey ! It has a decent boot which can accomodate 4 medium size suitcases if put in the standing position which is more than can be said for the average hatchback. It has more than enough leg room and with its black coachwork and dark smoke tinted rear windows looks very smart and sleek ... in short ...I love it and the fa ...
