Good Points: A 2004 model with 65,000 on the clock which is no distance at all for this deisel engine. Excellent torque. Pulls like a good 'un. Luxurious drive with plenty of toys. Courtesy lights underneath the wing mirrors. Smooth ride. Effortless motorway cruiser. The list is by no means exhaustive and I could go on. More poke than I have been used to in a car. Best all round car I have owned.

Bad Points: Radiator grille appears to look like a sieve for salads. Urban and rush hour, I only go as high as third gear. Computer seems to overestimate mileage remaining by 100 miles per tankful. The brakes are a tad spongy, but then I always find ABS a bit spooky so mebe it's just me.

General comments: I have owned generations of Fords, mainly Granadas Marks 1, 2 and 3. This far exceeds my expectations, and with the reliabiility and guts of the turbo deisel engine, I intend to keep this beauty for a long time.

Recently I used the Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130 Ghia X 4dr to move most of my aunt's possessions to a new address with a minimum amount of fuss. A wheelchair fits neatly into the boot without dropping the seats.

I don't think I can better this immacculate car at £4,600.

You should try, as I did, to get an ex-fleet car, mine had one previous owner, HSBC, who had everything and any little thing done by Ford with Ford parts. Full service history.

Don't think twice, go for it!

Diesel, why does anyone buy a diesel car? It costs more than unleaded and produces loads of soot when you put your foot down. Better fuel consumption must be the answer then. That's what I had in mind when I bought my Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130 Ghia X 4 dr Family car. I previously owned an Alfa Romeo 156 TS Lusso, which was great fun to drive but a tad thirsty giving between 22-24 MPG Urban. I hardly do any motorway driving so these consumption figures were getting a bit hard to swallow.
