had mondeo 2L tdci nearley 5yrs now.love car ,great tow car, very roomy and quite good on fuel.however had my share of problems with it.under warranty it had crank shaft pulley replaced twice, hand brake cables replaced,1 injector replaced, also encountered what looks like a very common fault of car cutting out at high speed and all lights on dash coming on.informed by ford dealer it was a common fault with a earth problem, which they rectifyed.my only remaining problem is that now and again when travelling at speed above 50mph,when changing from 4th to 5th,or 5th to 6th,and reapplying the throttle, the engine misses for a split second and no one seema to know why

Ford Mondeo 2.0 52 plate diesal ghia x. Had it now for 18months. So far replaced the clutch sensor and all of the injectors. Total cost to date £2k. Now got a fuel leak but do not know the cause or cost yet. Worst car ever for reliability. Was originally recalled for fuel pump under first owner. Stay well clear.
Friend just bought a 54 plate ford transit with TDCi engine. Just replaced fuel pump and injectors.

Never ever buy a ford mondeo !!!! I bought mine a year ago and i was told that if i replaced a few things it would run like a dream. My model is a 2002 with 152,000 miles on it. yes big miles i know. I have put all new parts in, a starter, clutch plate, clutch etc etc. my problems disappeared for about a MONTH. On thursday night i was on my way home on the motorway when the glow light came on and the car lost all power, lucky enough i got it onto the hard shoulder. The car started again and got ...- Read fordmac's review (265 words)

I love the way it delivers a relaxed and refined drive. The ride is beautifully smooth. There is plenty of pull from even the basic diesel engine. There is loads of space and it handles like a sports car. Mine is the estate and it is HUGE with the seats folded flat. It is definitely the best looking estate especially in SILVER and it is perfectly laid out inside. If this car was reliable (it isn't) it would definitely be better than others costing twice as much.- Read bobinda's review (233 words)

The Ford Mondeo is a very nice car but the engine cutting out does concern me, especially if it cuts out totally at speed, then what do you do. Ford main dealer cannot find anything which does not surprise me because of how frequent it happens.
Very good economy and reliability with great performance from 2.0 Tdci 130bhp.- Read Darren Leese's review (93 words)

Bought this Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi from new with delivery miles only. First 12 months absolutely without fault. Great spec on the Ghia - all the toys. Using this car as a towing vehicle upset a great relationship. On the road, this motor is more than capable of towing a suitably matched caravan - fifth gear on a steady climb without breaking a sweat - once on site, the clutch is not up to the job (not on mine anyway - anyone else suffered?). A few trips left the clutch/flywheel completely destroye ...- Read hillpaul's review (151 words and 3 comments)

I bought my Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130 Ghia with 7k miles from 'Ford Direct' and I'm over the moon with it. It feels like a BMW to drive with a well built interior and solid feel when driving. Around town i'm getting 46mpg and between 58-66mpg on the motorway. The 'Sony' stereo is very good with finger tip controls within easy reach by the steering wheel but not intrusive like the Peugeot 406. The midrange pull from the 130bhp diesel is remarkable, a vast difference from old. Mine is an estate and has ...- Read Johnny130's review (192 words)

Has anyone else experienced the engine cutting out while travelling at motorway speeds?
At present mine does this approx once a week (every 1000 miles) for approx 1-2 secs and then fires back up again. It's a bit disconcerting as the brakes and power steering go as well.
Ford dealer doesn't seem to understand or fix it (What's new !!)- Read Geoffbull's review (94 words and 49 comments)

Only had the car one week, but enjoy using it. Looking forward to a long journey. Very quiet engine for a diesel. Equipment level good, but is a Ghia. Ergonomics excellent. Really love the 5-tronic auto gearbox.- Read Philip Bunker's review (46 words)
