IF security measures are way over the top. Am trying to pay a credit card (not If) bill online and need to change the card number as I have been issued a new card but you cannot do it 'on line' without giving them your mobile number so that they can text you for security reasons. You cannot just enter your mobile either, you have to phone them to set it up. So spent an hour collating the numerous codes you need to just speak to them only to find they close at 8pm. AHHH! If I had 3 weeks to spare I would love to change bank accounts. Why does the advancement of technology make everything so complicated?

It was a few years ago that I was with IF, but I thought id tell you my experience. (it wasn't good in the end!)Everything ran fine for a while then suddenly my debit card kept bouncing payments. There were enough funds in the account but if I wanted to buy petrol at a petrol station say, the payemnt would be rejected. Also direct debits stopped working and the automatic payment that went from the current account to the loan account (loan repayment - the loan was with IF so this was internal to ...

I've banked online with IF for about 4 years. Great site, really good facilities, and apart from the hassle of the loads of numbers and codes you need to remember if you ever want to do anything not online which seems a bit over the top (jar, personal number, etc etc) its a really reliable service that does what it says on the tin.

Very frustrating to deal with in general. Not only does one has to contend with bank account no, sort code but also you will be required to memorise 10-digit no, a plan security code, username, password, jar number not to mention personal security questions like father's first name, mother's name etc etc. It is all unnecessary and extremely aggravating! All of which is required for online banking!

My wife and I have been with IF for over a year now and so far we've been impressed with the level of service we've had from IF. Our mortgage, current and savings account is with IF, we currently have an interest only offset mortgage which we allows you to over pay. We don't earn interest on our savings or current account as these are offset against the mortgage.

For years I paid a small amount of money into a Cash ISA with IF. I would have interested credited once a year and everything was rosy in the garden. That was until I wanted to withdraw most of my money (£10,500) to pay a lump off my mortgage when remortgaging. I tried to transfer the amount from IF to my nominated current account with Lloyds. I was informed that this was not possible over the internet! Not bad for a web based account! I then called their customer services who informed tha ...

When I first signed up with IF Internet Banking, the site frequently blocked access. I was later told that my security questions, username and password were case sensitive. Probably a user error, but a pit fall all the same.

I like to list the direct debits which have yet to be payed this month, in order to get an accurate idea of how much I can spend / save. With cahoot, the best way was to list the direct debits, and it would show a table of DD names, dates and values all on one page. IF li ...

The only problem I have with IF Internet Banking is that sometimes you just can't access the site, but when it is up it's great.

IF's website shows all your transactions (not just the last few weeks).

Performance has been a bit slow recently ... I've had trouble signing-in on several occasions.

Very annoyingly, IF has moved their credit card to Halifax, so the sites are no longer integrated (they have also dropped some of the financial incentives to have all your products with them)

Well, I have been sitting reading the reviews here after being an IF customer since the start and am appalled by the reviews that I have read!

Overall I have had nothing but great service from the bank and I have to say I have not always had this service from my previous bank!!!!

I have my mortgage with them and so do my sister and parents and none of us have had any problems. All companies including banks will have problems and customers will be disatisfied, however it is all to common fo ...

OK, IF sent me a letter to say that my credit card would be cancelled on 10 July. What I didn't realise was that it would totally dissappear from my online banking page. So, I now have no way of knowing how much I owe, and how I can pay it off. I emailled them to ask how I can pay off the balance, and they said it was nothing to do with them and that I should phone some number (not freephone of course). They can whistle!

Needless to say, I'm moved to another bank (A+L). Should have checked th ...

After being dumped by IF regarding ending the credit card offset facility I notice that they have the cheek to offer 0% credit card facilities for 9 months to customers who do not have any money with IF. Absolutely disgusting service.

This should have been offered to existing customers. Wouldn't surprise me soon to see the IF Marque vanish and it all just called Halifax Bank. At least we can then pay in cheques and get them cleared quicker.

Well, we too were offered a mortgage in principle, we paid our £425 for the valuation and opening up the correct account but two months down the line they have been stringing us along because they couldn't comprehend that my husband was an IT contractor, they kept thinking he owned million pound corporations!! We went though a broker who probably knew how to deal with them better than us and if he had problems then the normal person on the street has no chance! We have now gone with C&G wh ...

Like others I received a letter in the post yesterday from Intelligent Finance stating that as from the 8th July 2005 all customers with Visa credit cards are going to be "dumped".

The reason given is because of their system not being able to cope with the new chip & pin system. It is proposed that all IF customers have to contact Halifax Bank or others and make their own arrangements for a credit card and re-arrange all of their direct debits. There is no mention why at least they are not ma ...

After having a mortgage and savings with IF for a couple of years last autumn I decided to move my current account to make it easier to move money between accounts and to take further advantage of offsetting.

IF cocked up my current account transfer and a standing order for over £600 was paid twice in the same month. Luckily I had the savings to get me through the month.

I then moved house in December and am still (end of April) waiting for the temporary mortgage to be moved into the ...

I see I'm not the only one to get incompetent service from if.com Intelligent Finance.
I should have known when my initial (substantial) deposit was credited to someone else's account. Since then several cheques have been lost or mis-posted.
I shan't be sorry to see the back of this 'bank'.

Very pleased with this service from Intelligent Finance, strongly recomended. I have attempted to do most of the functions on the Internet Banking web site with no problems at all and i'm no computer expert. Transfering money, setting up direct debits, paying lump sums of your mortgage, offsetting you name it no problem.

My mortgage was arranged through a broker who recommended IF. They seemed to offer a good deal with offset mortgage. A year down the line, I got married and wanted to change to a joint mortgage. They said we couldn't change to a joint morttgage, we would have to reapply, but they could only offer £35,000 LESS than I already had because of a "change in their lending requirements" despite now having joint earnings far in excess of that originally required. No, we couldn't make direct debt pa ...

We managed to get a mortgage with IF Intelligent Finance about 6 months ago. Last month we decided to get a fixed rate with Northern Rock, as it was cheaper. NR redeemed the mortgage with I.F. on the 8th June, however we'd already had June's payment come out on the 1st, about £450. A week later we also had to pay the 1st mortgage payment with NR for another £450.
So we phoned I.F. and asked if we were due a reimbursement for the extra paid. I was told we would get about £250 b ...

6 months ago we applied for a mortgage through Intelligent Finance. The fellow was very helpful, explained everything and then told us we could have the mortgage - everything was credit checked and agreed. They sent us all the paperwork, we filled it out and sent it off. We then had to pay £300 for a house valuation but were told not to worry because we get this back with the first mortgage payment. We were then sent a letter by First Title Legal who do all the Equity searches and told it ...
