    The Ford Escort and its twin, the Mercury Tracer, were both very reliable and durable vehichles. They performed well, though the later models left something to be desired accerleration wise. The 2-door hatchback had a greater "cool factor" than the sedan.

    The 1.8l Ford Escort (Zetec) car is an excellent machine.
    The motor is excellent, it can be very very fast. 0 - 100 in 9 sec. for a family car it is so good. And has a top speed of 200 km/h. The design is very nice, and it can be a good racer car. The equipment is normal...

    Very large rev range. Nice cruising with big gear and when it's time to go just take it above 4500 revs!

    Lovely engine with good low down torque that pulls quickly and cleanly throughtout the rev range, I was very surprised when I first drove this car (1992 1.8 zetec engine). The handling is also very good altough mine has the alloy wheels (Ghia spec) so I don't know if this is true throughout the range.

    On the down side there are a few 'specs' of rust coming through.
